| November 13, 2010 | 0 Comments

Face to Face with the Italian, Russian and Triad mobs the Zodiac pulls out his Arsenal when the Tibetan Zodiac sorcerer brings the Asian Astrological monsters into play!

Not really happy with this concept, I’ll play around some more until i get it right.

Smart Phone Goblin

| November 13, 2010 | 0 Comments

I wanted to make a “Kirby-style” monster along the lines of the sci-fi / horror comics of the ’50s, but something current. Atomic energy and space travel were the big themes of their day, so the big deal today is smart phones. I wanted to make a “haunted / possessed phone.”

#12 – Chalybs

| November 13, 2010 | 0 Comments

Chalybs from the planet Xenon is the ultimate hero. Chairman of the “Alliance of the Just”, savior of planet Earth not once, but a hundred times. Superhumanly strong, impervious to physical force – like the steel he’s named himself after (in Latin) – with the ability to teleport and imbued with lots of other secondary powers he derives from Earth’s core, this hero is a living example of ridiculous overpowering. And while Chalybs is one of the good guys, he is also arrogant and as self-righteous as a law-abiding citizen can be.
He’s the leader of the team that rejected Blindsight in the first place, and continues to make a laughing stock out of all “lowly powereds”.

#11 – Imprint

| November 13, 2010 | 0 Comments

Imprint has the power of fast reading. Filing through a book in a second or so gives her enough time to absorb all the information in that book. However, she does not have a super-memory.
Moreover, having read lots of books, Imprint is bored with reading completely, since she takes no enjoyment from books at all.
She works as cinema operator Lucy Allred, enjoying movies far more than literature.
She gets to know Glitch in a chatroom, and he convinces her to use her powers for good as well. This proves to be harder than imagined, because her powers grant her little actual advantage. Imprint develops a crush on Simulacrum, whom she supports by supplying ideas for further transformations.

#10 – Glitch

| November 13, 2010 | 0 Comments

Glitch is Herb Monroe, a small-time crook who appears to have marginal electrical powers. He makes a living from manipulating electrical devices from a distance and then “repairing” them in his shop.
Actually, Herb has telekinetic powers, which are however very, VERY small. Herb can only move objects no larger than the size of atomic particles. He usually uses this power to stop a handful of electrons from moving or redirecting them, causing “glitches” in electronic devices.

Due to the nature of his powers, Herb can influence many particles at once, as long as they are not connected to structures lager than a single atom of hydrogen.

Glitch is recruited by Nevermind, who falls victim to one of his schemes, but uncovers the truth about the malfunction of his computer once he meets Herb and picks up a thought about “fraud”. Herb is offered a different life as a hero, and gladly accepts, although he refuses to wear a costume.

#9 – Calendar

| November 13, 2010 | 0 Comments

Calendar is a late replacement member of the “Marginal Men”.
She’s a kind of shapeshifter, with the limitation that she can only assume forms of herself at different ages.
While changed into another age, she retains her memories, but is limited by her mental capacities. Thus, she never dared turn into a baby (because she fears she will be unable to return to her original age), and she finds out that she will be suffering from Alzheimer some day, so she doesn’t turn herself too old, either.
Mysteriously, if she turns her age to just over approximately 40 years, a strange scar appears across her chest, leading to the question wether Calendar is not actually more of a timeshifter.

Calendar does not give her real name or age. She aids the team by blending in with the crowd, looking totally unsuspicious, collecting information for the team.

#11: Baron Hawke

| November 13, 2010 | 0 Comments

Better late than never! I’m about a day behind, but hopefully I’ll be getting up to speed this weekend. This entry comes from the same world as Sir Gustavus and Reebooshalictivus. Enjoy!

All of the Hawkes were noble, but Baron Hawke was the noblest. All of them flew in formation behind him, ducking when he ducked and weaving when he weaved. North, south, east, or west, Baron Hawke was the epitome of their species and looked upon as the overseer of the entire land.

Baron Hawke flew over the carnage swiftly. He was always present for the misdoings of the land creatures but was never dull enough to sink to their level of childish meanderings, striking at one another through the cover of darkness. The Hawkes were watchers; Baron had trained his people to become the Lords of the Sky, watching over the lands below with objectivity and sincerity. From their point of view, distinction between Feral, Feline and Kane was irrelevant; all creatures were but a small blotch on their keen radar as they pierced the atmosphere.

Baron Hawke was  the eldest of his kind. Of any kind, really. He had seen war, plenty of it. More than he’d care to reflect upon. But flying over the wreckage of the destroyed Kingdom was nearly enough to bring tears to his eye. As a symbol of the ancients, the old world, Baron found it difficult to drudge up much emotion about anything in this day and age. He had seen the world rise, fall, lay stagnant, and rebuild… twice. There was a cycle to their seemingly random existence and the world was immeasurably old. As far as Baron knew, he was the oldest living creature on the Earth.

And that’s why his sudden emotion surprised him to the fullest.

At first, he flew slowly over the Kingdom, observing the destruction. Kane bodies were spread about, maimed and broken. The villages had burned, houses razed and the castle overrun with Ferals. The Kingdom had become a wasteland. Unity of the underprivileged, spurred on by a thirst for revolution, had finally won out.

Baron Hawke and his kin certainly had the means for intervention, but they were merely observers. Some of the younger members pleaded with Baron for a retooling of their longstanding rules, but he held true to his forefathers. He had held the tradition for innumerable generations and there was no reason he was about to stop now.

In secret, he wondered if his younger kin was right. Perhaps he was out of touch? Maybe it was his unwillingness to evolve their role in the ecosystem of their society that had caused the ground to act with such despair and violence. The thought weighed heavily on his proud mind, causing heaving flap of his wings to feel ten times heavier. Every breathe was deeper, every call tired.

Before this moment, Baron Hawke had never felt old.

#11 Apo & Ako Sylvamus

So I was trying to work on my 30characters and I got a sick. But I was looking through some older projects and ran across my “Space Marines” story that I was working on for an anthology. and I remembered a quick sketch of two comedic characters… A pair of brothers that kinda look like huge mice.

All I had was that they would launch the Space Marines away ships  at the beginning of the story with a AC-DC style “Fiiiiiiiiiire.” And suddenly it was Veteran’s Day and a story came to me that I had to finish. #30characters be damned… Ha. So here is my #11 characters and a comic to accompany the characters.

#11 – Helena

| November 13, 2010 | 2 Comments

One of the younger members of Ms. Daiyu’s group, Helena is a force to be reckoned with. Despite her slight frame and adorable eyes, Helena mastered her own unique form of Muay Thai and Jiu Jitsu by the ripe age of 14. This of course is what first drew Ms. Daiyu’s attention. This and her mastery of 4 separate languages by the age of 13. Helena is one of the more outgoing of the team, often chosen as the leader of diplomatic missions, however, her strong personality, and stunning cuteness makes her less than perfect for undercover work.

#16 Ladyhawke

| November 13, 2010 | 0 Comments

This is another Michelle Delsante co-creation, but I like where she went with the design (created, almost, immediately after I did Spacehawk). She did the design, I came up with the name and character background. Who says marriage is like creating comics? Me, that’s who!

Concept: Ladyhawke (Lizzy Scott) was a superhero in her own right (formerly known as #4, from the Siren 6), defending the innocent and fighting evil on the streets of Boston. And then she met Spacehawk. A (literal) whirlwind romance ensued and the two married. Ladyhawke changed her costume to match that of her husband’s. And even though they spend most of their time apart (due to his condition), their marriage is as strong as ever.

Design: I should really ask Michelle what she was thinking with the design, since it was her idea, but I can tell that it’s a feminine version of Spacehawk. She doesn’t have any powers (except for her gauntlet/gloves, which doubles the kinetic energy of her punches).  Her outfit is made of an alien chain-mail that absorbs energy.

#12 Boonie

| November 13, 2010 | 0 Comments

Boonie is a former First Sergeant for the US Marine Corps, brought into the same government experiment that Crosswire was. The difference is that Boonie knows the true purpose of The Elite, and he helps keep the secret. He rules the team with a firm hand, despite his rather flacid appearance.

Boonie has control over water, becoming one with it at will, but his powers don’t stop there. True to his chosen branch, he is a dominant force on land, sea and air. His body has transmutable properties allowing him to change his density as well as his form.

===============================

So I’m now officially referring to this as a twisted G.I. Joe with super powers. lol
