#12 – The Kid

| November 22, 2010 | 0 Comments

I’m very hapoy to be included in a project called Ten pages. The other day I was handed a ten page script about cowboys, and I’m so excited to be doing this. Here’s my first design for the short comic. None of the characters have names, but I’m hoping to give them plenty of character.

#20 Back Alley Miracle Man

| November 22, 2010 | 1 Comment

This old man comes from an era where the snake oil salesman could command a crowd — selling enough of his cures to make more money in a day than the average man would make in a month. Sadly, those days are now gone for him. He can only sell his dubious cures to the poor and the desperate, sharing the street with drug dealers and panhandlers. But if he can only save up enough money for a cheap infommercial…

#25 Black Cobra (1)

| November 22, 2010 | 3 Comments

Didn’t plan on revealing these guys, mostly because I wasn’t so keen on the way they originally came out. But, to be perfectly honest, in trying to think up new characters, I kept coming back to the Black Cobra family (you’ll understand in the coming days). Up until now, these have been character descriptions in a document. Today, the characters come to life.

Concept: The Black Cobra/John Saunders (Cowboy) – An expatriate Brit who fought in the Indian Revolution and then moved to the US West to escape the Crown (the Royal British Army will be a thorn in his side) and became a gunslinger/lawman.  His revolvers (called “Venom” and “Fang”) had black cobra design embossed in the handle.

Design: The cobra design is that circle to the right of his head. This character has ties to both Tex Leonis and King Snakeroot. The blue and orange colors will be a recurring motif as we go forward.

#18 Cassandra Shimizu aka Nightclub

| November 22, 2010 | 2 Comments

Cassandra’s mother, Aki Shimizu, was a influential spirit medium that worked for some of the most shadiest characters in Japan. When Cassie’s mother died under strange circumstances Cassie went to live in a boarding school in England. Since her mother’s death she can feel her mother has not left this plane of existence, But she has anchored herself to Cassie and is trying to take control of her body. She can feel her mother summoning increasingly more spirits into her soul…packing it full.

In reaction Cassie doesn’t take care of herself and abuses her own body to retaliation.
But every night she can hear more voices, thousands at a time, gathering… They have taken to calling her “Nightclub” in disrespect and and they grow. She’s not sure how much longer she can last, But blaring Heavy Metal and Punk music as she sleeps seems to help.

#22 Amy

Amy is a little older than the rest of the gang, but she and Lena are really close. She’s smart and fun, but sometimes she does feel like she should be with older kids.

#20 – The Picture of David Harrison

The picture of David Harrison has hung in the lobby of the hotel for nearly 50 years. The painting of the hotel founder comes to life every evening at midnight and answers a single question.

#15 Jake Boneswarm

| November 22, 2010 | 2 Comments

Jake Boneswarm is a new character in the world and story of Art Geek Zoo: The Way of Sound.

Jake Boneswarm is known to Musica’s gholhems and mystical instruments as a roaming undead musician. Initially seen as a threat, now Jake is well respected among the instruments as they appreciate his considerable talent. He’s also seen as a cursed artist to have respect and pity over as he’s bound to his skeletal form, cursed to perform once per day for as large of a crowd as he can find or gather at a moments notice when the curse takes effect.

What the unsuspecting instruments and gholhems don’t know is that Jake became cursed when he stole the spirits of a few famous musicians some years ago. The musician’s spirits all cursed Jake so if he didn’t perform for as big of an audience as he can find every single day – Jake would turn to dust.

After the curse Jake Boneswarm swore he’d never steal a spirit again. However, such a promise could prove hard to keep if he crossed paths with a bunch of talented musicians all at once – such as the bunch of talented musicians in that have joined Professor Razorclaw’s class at Polytechnica.
