#3 Matt Mason

| November 4, 2011 | 6 Comments

This is part 2 to a post i made yesterday, can be viewed –> http://www.30characters.com/2011/11/03/2-major-mason/

——————————————————–

In  1966 Major Matt Mason was the Mattel organizations “First man in space!” .  He was a shining example of American pride and ingenuity.  Whilst exploring the vast unknown the Majors ship was  bombarded with “Gamma Light”, all communications were lost.  Now, almost fifty years later the Major has returned… but something’s different about him…

Day # 4 Candice “Bar-Star” McKenzie

| November 4, 2011 | 0 Comments

Candice is by definition a party girl. She always knows when and where the next big bash is going to be, and has been dubbed bar-star by all of her friends. She’s not nessisarily shallow, but she doesn’t understand why some people judge her lifestyles. She figures as long as she’s having fun and nothing catches up with her she’ll be fine. She’s actually very familiar with the local super-hero league because she is constantly being victimized by the local villians; who she is also on a first name basis with. Why she’s so prone to kidnapping, robbery, hostage situations, and just general mayhem no one acutally knows, but she takes it in stride. Nothing every stops this party girl, although the superhero’s guild has fitted most of her favourite party outfits with GPS trackers, just in case.

#4 Chad Sharphorn Unicorn Prom Date

| November 4, 2011 | 2 Comments

Chad here…your sexy date for prom circa 1974.  It’s only a bonus that I’m also a unicorn…which means I’m magical…that’s right maaaagiiiic.  Let’s dance baby.

Day 4: Celeste

| November 4, 2011 | 0 Comments

Celeste is a witch who is especially good with plants. She enjoys making large beanstalk-esque plants that she can sit on. She mostly talks to vegetables and trees (flowers are much too snooty), and doesn’t have very many human friends.

#04 The Derelict

| November 4, 2011 | 2 Comments

A scout from the tribe has found a derelict mech, remarkably intact and still upright after a sudden failure. In the great salt flats, rampant mechs wander, hunt, and stalk each other and the post-humans, in search of materials. The mechs use a system of ancillary drone units who work repairs on a main body frame. These repair drones use sophisticated 3D printing technology to manufacture specialized parts, which are installed, sometimes without even affecting performance.

This particular unit was unable to find materials to repair itself with, and eventually wore crucial components out, slowly becoming crippled, finally just stopping in it’s tracks, unable to move. The once-great machine was thus but a cache of minerals for whomever  -or whatever to find.

All right, no more of this story, I’ll just switch over to some other sub-genre, and come back later.

This is a mischevious little girl who likes to cut her hair when noone’s looking.

#4 “Shade Maiden” Amelia Baxter

| November 4, 2011 | 0 Comments

Universe/Storyline: The Band

Universe details: In the isolated city of Crescent where these characters live, superpowers spring from close encounters with death. Only people born in the city can gain these powers, and since this is a relatively new settlement, the first generation of people born there are just starting to show signs of super-fication. This means mostly kids and teens. Of the teens, Camille, Max, Amelia, Walter, and Rin decide to team up and form a band. They take it upon themselves to help other kids who are just getting powers/dealing with death. Eventually, when The Band realizes that everyone deserves to be informed about the city’s unique predicament, they try to reach every kid in the city at once by putting on a live concert.

Height: 5’ 4”

Body Type: Average

Hair: Black, with very subtle hints of gray. Length is choppy, the longest bits are chin length and the shorter parts are about ½ inch above the chin. Straight. Some bangs, also choppy.

Eyes: Gray, dark circles underneath

Race: White (skin very pale)

Age: 15

Appearance detail: Always has at least part of her face hidden in shadow. Sometimes the shadow stretches across her eyes like a mask.

Attire: A long, worn out dress in faded gray, black, and purple. Accessorized with a skull pendant choker and, sometimes, thin arm warmers or fingerless gloves that extend to the elbow and black and white pearl bracelets.  (Subject to change, but always in the same theme.)

Superpowers: Illusionary Projection, Conscious and Subconscious (primary)- Amelia can alter the appearance of anything within her range of vision, making objects seem to appear and disappear or change in shape, size, color, etc. However, the objects (or lack thereof) do not physically change in reality, for they are only an illusion, and these illusions can be discovered to be so when someone tries to interact with or physically touch them. Amelia is constantly using her power to hide her identity by casting shadows over parts of her face. She never looks exactly the same twice. No one can ever really be sure what she actually looks like. The subconscious consequence of her power is that Amelia sometimes ‘receives’ illusions in the form of visions from people around her with highly active subconscious minds. This means that if she is sleeping near someone sleeping, she participates in their dreams (and nightmares) as if they were real. Sometimes these visions cause her to feel real pain, and compel her to do things she wouldn’t normally do. She has some conscious control of this power when she is awake, allowing her to see the dreams of people sleeping nearby.

Necromancy, Subconscious- When Amelia becomes extremely upset, the dead rise from beneath her feet to punish the living until she is calmed. She has little control over them, but they do not attack her.

Personality: She is the opposite of Camille when it comes to trust. Any newcomer is a threat until proven innocent. But, once you earn her trust, she will do anything for you. She is defensive emotionally and doesn’t often tell people how she is feeling. She keeps secrets, especially about her past. She is not totally dreary, however. Once she finds love with Walter Chen (below) she becomes quite pleasant, even fun, and lets her more quirky side show through. She is still distrusting of outsiders, but works well with her teammates.

Power Source/Backstory:

a.      Projecting Illusion (wide range, primarily visual, some sound esp. silence)- mysterious background…? Something to do with the foster home she was raised in. She was young, she saw someone die randomly in an accident or from a stroke, etc. She wished she hadn’t seen it and made the body disappear.

b.      Necromancy- Watching Walter’s grandfather dying in a hospital bed, she begins to feel his pain and uncontrollably pulls the plug, hiding the fact with illusion. She instinctively touches the metal filament of the plug. Later, at Walter’s grandfather’s funeral, she raises the dead.

Professor Brain Head

Nobody knows where he came from or if he really is a professor. He has unlimited potential, however he barely utilizes it and mainly surfs the internet learning useless information. Mostly spends his time editing and correcting Wikipedia entries.

#4 A Devilish Backup Tape

| November 4, 2011 | 0 Comments

Yesterday I was stuck at work late, trying to figure out why our stupid tape backup system wasn’t working correctly. It was very annoying, mostly because it took away from my time for drawing my character of the day.  I scribbled this guy while I was waiting for a tape drive to respond.

I’m not proud of it…but here it is.

#3 Turtle Neck Guy

| November 4, 2011 | 0 Comments

Originally this started out as another geek, who got a turtle neck like his hero Steve Jobs.   I’m not sure if he’s really ‘geeky’ anymore, but Im still pleased with it.

quasilucid zombieG’s doesn’t like the term zombie. He doesn’t feed on human brains… exclusively. His master resurrected him from the dead to help with routine chores like, doing the laundry, baking peanut-butter cookies, or procuring human sacrifices.

#4 Joesph Erikson

| November 4, 2011 | 0 Comments

Joesph Erikson was a good cop responsible for the arrest of hundreds of New York’s worse, but that changed when the heroes came around. Apparently the common person prefers a costumed rookie, to a well trained official. In the wake of being fired from his job, he became a private detective, hoping to dig up secrets on those who cost him his job.

#4 – Amnesius

| November 4, 2011 | 5 Comments

Most spirits take on the appearance of their living form when they pass over.  Unfortunately for this guy he was snuffed out by an axe blow to the cranium, resulting in a case of amnesia so severe it crossed over with him.  Because he can’t remember what he actually looked like, he’s now stuck with the default ghost body until his memory returns.

| November 4, 2011 | 0 Comments

The Reacher is a being from ancient times. Being so old, the form was taken long ago. The Reacher replaced his physical from with a mask formed from a large river rock and a cloak of the deepest waters. Being neither good nor evil the Reacher lives simply to be with no goals other then to observe. The Reacher gets his name from his ability to reach into the minds of other, drawing them in to themselves so they may speak.

Tarou of Undercity from my Novel “Mentor”.

| November 4, 2011 | 1 Comment

2011 Day 04 -Tarou by Gibbi from my novel "Mentor"

A rock painting of the hunter, Tarou, attributed to Gibbi the Seer painted in her youth.

Tarou: A young man of burning intensity. Wary, incredibly strong and yet still fast and agile in spite of his size and bulging muscles. Sometimes huge slabs of grey stone would fall from high above. Once, Tarou lifted one of these slabs to rescue the contents of the storage hut that had been crushed beneath it. He was very strong. The strongest in the tribe. But he was also smart. He could quickly size up any situation and then act upon his conclusions. Sometimes the conclusions were wrong, as where Marnal was concerned, but where danger threatened, or when new tactics were needed on a hunt, he was more often right. The packs that he led on hunts always returned, to a man or woman, not always whole or with all their limbs, but alive to hunt another day. And always returned with that for which they had gone out to hunt. And as he grew in stature and aged into his first manhood, there were fewer and fewer casualties. In this he had more and more of the awe and respect of the tribe.

Tarou was considered the best hunter the tribe had ever had and was therefore in line for the leadership. That was something he wasn’t sure he wanted. But the present leader was still young and had all his digits, so that decision could be put away for now. That being the case he couldn’t help being a little full of himself. A little arrogant, though always respectful to the elders. This showed mostly in his pursuit of the woman of his choice. Marnal. She was perfect for him. She matched him in every way and one day she would realise it and stop this silly holding him at bay, putting him off. Pretending that she had no interest in bedding with him. No matter. He was patience itself. Though he wasn’t adverse to pushing her a little. She always gave as good as she got. He’d love to experience that passion under the skins of their own hut someday.

He smiled inwardly at the thought. He rarely let others know his inner feelings, though his actions usually spoke louder than his expressions. Yes, he was pleased with the way things were going, with Marnal as his constant companion, even though she never sought him out. She sought the company of no man. Likely this was to reduce the jealousies that her kind could induce in a well balanced hunting team. He was aware that there was no other man in the tribe who could stand up to him in either appearance, strength, or wit. And Marnal. She was all business all the time. She was focused and quick witted and though not as strong as he (how could she be? She was a female!) But she used her wit to advantages that strength alone couldn’t match.

Then there was the rock painting that  little Gibbi had made of him. She had mixed ash and ichor and had stroked it deftly onto a piece of the black rock that lay under  every part of his world.  It was a special honour to be chosen as subject for one of her paintings. She had done something unusual with the eyes. Not unpleasant, but strange, that made the subject look both determined and intense. Was that how he looked to others? Still it pleased him like so many things did. He was pleased and yet there were stirrings of unease in him, as if a change were coming, bringing the unknown hurtling down upon them like a falling slab of grey rock.

#4 Didrik Kirdin

| November 4, 2011 | 1 Comment

Didrik Kirdin

Age: 38
Place of Origin: Continent of Osniriah, Darmakh region
Height: 6′ 3″
Weight: Never cared
Eye color: dark green

In the region of Darmakh, there is a village with people of green hair called Amassia, descendants of the
forbidden tribe, a tribe with history of skilled and ruthless assassins transcending time. Didrik is an unmatched
swords man from this tribe, that is until he met Zohar. Didrik is calm and calculates every single one of his
moves, strategy is his strength besides the physical one he possesses. He is kind hearted to those in need and
ruthless to those who deserve punishment.. Didrik has been spotted carrying two barrels full of whine at the same time.
He is the biggest muscle from Zohar’s crew, and crossing swords with him means a low chance for survival.
Didrik has been double crossed in the past by his old first mate and best friend, which made his decision to join Zohar’s crew
difficult, but after Zohar helped the people from the village of Amassia from a golem invasion, Didrik trusted
Zohar’s leadership and skill, since has was the only one who crossed swords with Didrik and lives to tell about it.

Less a “character”, more a caricature… this is a testing out of a little avatar character of my friend for his band… I’m just doing lots of tests for imagery for them, and I quite liked this style but don’t think it really suits their music.

But I did an animated version too!

#4 Maj. Gen. Arthur Remo’s White Whale

| November 4, 2011 | 4 Comments

“The origins of the Shoggoth are still unknown.  Those who survived witnessing the creature’s arrival would say that it came from the sky, but its approach was never detected in space.  It just seemed to materialize as it descended over Buffalo.

What is known is that on December twenty-first of twenty twelve, the Shoggoth hovered over the city for three minutes and twenty-two seconds before releasing a steady energy beam into the earth. The creature then drifted northwest. It’s plasma discharge cut a trench from Buffalo, New York to Moose Lake, Manitoba.

USAF hammered the creature for more than seventy hours as the Shoggoth made its slow trek across North America. Finally a nuclear missile was launched at the creature. Sure it survived, but it was also driven away. It de-materialized during its’ ascent into space.

I know many pilots, myself included, hoped for its return. It’s been twenty years, but it still feels like unfinished business to me. I wanted to chase it into the stars. I wanted revenge for the seventy-three thousand people it killed.”

#4 Addae

| November 4, 2011 | 0 Comments

I’m slow and late and now I don’t have time to write out the entire story, so I’ll just tell you who the character is and edit this post with the full story later. Addae is shy, always indecisive and insecure. He is the guy who just nods and agrees with everything everyone says because he doesn’t want to start any arguments (and if he does accidentally start an argument, he can’t apologize often enough for having an opinion). He is also very kind, sensitive and understanding, and often funny in an extremely unintentional way. Also a fire mage. And being a fire mage was kind of a problem back in the days when earth mages were dominating the entire continent and when slave-trade was a very profitable business.

When he was thirteen years old he was captured by slavers and sold to Atash‘s father (then king of one part of the earth mage kingdoms), who gave Addae to his son as a present for his sixteenth birthday (yeah, this is a world where dads give their sons a slave for their birthday, how nice). They ended up befriending each other and grew very, very close. When Atash’s father died seven years later en Addae fully became Atash’s “property”, Atash decided to set him free. Despite being so close to Atash, Addae saw that as his duty to return to his family. But when he got back to the land of the fire mages and was reunited with his family, he realized that he didn’t feel at home among his own family anymore. Though he had missed his family seven years ago, he now missed the place where he spend his teenage years and, more than that, he missed Atash. After spending a few weeks with his family, his homesickness got so bad that he just packed his stuff and walked away one night (without informing his family that he was going back, probably to avoid confrontation. The chicken :U). He eventually found his way back to Atash, who was overjoyed to have him back. A couple of years later the two got married, and Addae received the title of High Prince.

As happy as that part of the story ended, the full story is actually pretty tragic :c I will type out the rest of it tomorrow!

I don’t know, really. This was an outfit I generated during Sociology class today. I’ll name her Vixen. She looks like she fights crime as a

vigilante. I probably should have drawn a mask. Lol at the lame action pose. Hey, I tried.

#4 Mistress of the four-color deck

| November 4, 2011 | 0 Comments

Oh crap, how to trump a joker?”  -“Just leave it to me. I’ve been waiting for this!” (Elin and the ace of spades)

Day four and another RPG-Character. This time it’s Elin, the sister of Ankour, as mistress of the four-color deck.  Elin used to be an airily girl, not carring about tomorrow or her future. Everything has changed since a creepy woman has given a misterious pack of cards to her. The young girl became the mistress of the four-color deck, able to summon the people of the cards and to use their special abilitys. Elin was overwhelmed by this new power and responsibilty, so she is very glad that the ace of spades became her mentor. Because there is a lot to learn

Everyone expected the master of the cards to be a man, this is one reason for Elins clothes. At first I wanted to add a lot more details to the croupier outfit, but I had to notice that this would have been an overkill, so I stayed with buttons in card shape and the four-color symbols. I like it
