#25 – Auntie Jem

| November 25, 2011 | 0 Comments

Auntie Jem is possibly an ally, but really is a threshold guardian. She keeps a person from entering the “grown-up” world too early, and tells you that there is no return once you’ve taken that juncture. As well, she gives certain tests to ensure you’re ready. Of course, there is all that good cooking she dishes out meanwhile – but is that a test to see if you will just stay around her place instead of going out into the world and making your way?!?

#24 – Patrick

| November 25, 2011 | 0 Comments

Patrick is Stanley’s older brother.  After training hand to hand combat with a combat master, he returns to his home to find out that his brother has found a sword out in the middle of nowhere.  Not surprised by this, Pat thought his brother would simply use it to fight against evil monsters and wizards that would try to take sword for their own goals.

…To his own shock, Stanley plans on returning the sword to its original owner, whoever it may be, and he believes that the only way to do so is to wander around and ask people of importance who the sword belongs to.  Pat fears that this may lead to his little brother’s death, so he enlists the aid of his two closest friends, Danny and Linda, to supervise Stanley and protect him from any harm if necessary.

Due to his methods of supervision and defense, Patrick may come off as a bit overprotective.  However, he values the safety of his little brother.

Patrick is approximately 25 years old.

Mint is a very quiet girl. She comes off as very cold, but she is really just ridiculously shy. Mint really doesn’t know her own strength.

G. Brett Williams #25 – Stephen Strickland (Rumspringa)

| November 25, 2011 | 0 Comments
The first villain the group encounters is energy tycoon and COO of Jupiter Power, Stephen Strickland.  Strickland is a Texas businessman and all around shark of a man.  He has climbed to second in command of the Jupiter Power company, a subsidiary of the global corporate/military group, Obsidian.  Obsidian is a centuries old secret society that has hidden itself inside the structure of a global corporation with its fingers in many pies, similar to Blackwater in our own world.  Stephen Strickland is aware, to a certain extent, of the secret society behind Obsidian, but he doesn’t know the full extent of that society’s scope or structure.  He does want to be a part of the society and uses his position at the top of Jupiter, an Obsidian company, to impress them.  Strickland’s ability to govern and produce results has been called into question though, as an increase in public support for alternative energy sources and more environmental oversight have thrown a monkeywrench into the Jupiter Power works.  Strickland is seen as a hardline supporter of fossil fuel, mainly because he made millions as a Texas oil baron.  Obsidian begins to see Strickland as something of a dinosaur, a man not capable of adapting to the future.  Strickland, desperate to retain his relevancy, gets a gift when he discovers Sarah and her abilities.  He believes that if he can somehow capture the girl, he can spirit her away and use her to launch a renaissance of cheap, renewable energy.  Strickland becomes the villain of the first arc.  He aggressively pursues Sarah, using everything in his power to do so.  He even goes so far as to kidnap and kill Sarah’s brother to try and influence the girl.  Strickland is defeated by Sarah.  This defeat leads Obsidian to cut their losses with Strickland.  For his service to the cause, they allow him to live, but they bankrupt him and completely erase his identity.  Strickland is left homeless and broken.

#25 – J. Robert Oppenheimer – Black Mage

| November 25, 2011 | 0 Comments

Physicist, political activist, and father of the atomic bomb, J. Robert Oppenheimer has become a kind of modern Faust figure. Though he participated in the construction of the most destructive weapon ever used in war, Mr. Oppenheimer felt that the proliferation of nuclear weapons could be prevented by the United Nations; in fact, he believed that he could control where his invention went next, and who used it. As many inventors have found, there simply is no way to put the genie back in the bottle.

Black Mages tend to be the go-to damage class in RPGs, using elemental affinities and raw strength of stats to nuke enemies from afar. In general, the Black Mage can be seen as an equivalent to the Sorceror or Wizard, but much more straightforward in its approach to dealing damage. Given the way Mr. Oppenheimer’s research was applied, and his own ecclectic and often unsubtle means of expressing himself, I felt a Black Mage would be appropriate for him.

#22 Super Eric

| November 25, 2011 | 0 Comments

#22 Super Eric (fantasy humor/superhero) Pajama Dragon (post #21) was inspired by my grand daughter Kim; #22 post is inspired by grandson Eric.  Eric’s magic phrase right now is “Mac and Cheese!” So when I heard this I imagined thunder and lightening and Eric turning into a super hero (ala Captain Marvel/Shazam).

“Is there an “R” on your shirt?” Another big thing with Eric is the letter “R”. First off, Eric and his twin sister Kim turned three years old last week. Also, big brother Ethan (who will turn five years old in a couple months) isgoing to pre-school. And with pre-school, Ethan is learning his ABCs. For some reason Eric ( who likes to imitate big brother in most things) looks at the alphbet and thinks the letter “R” is important. If you ask Eric how old he is, he’ll say…”R”.

SavoitChancellor of the reptilian parliament, Savoit is an example of the sometimes rocky relations between mammalian and Reptilids since the cold blood war. On one hand Savoit is very much the progressive, working for a more ecumenical relationship between the peoples. But Savoit has his own agenda, himself.

#21 Farmer Cax

| November 25, 2011 | 0 Comments

cax is a chuian farmer. you wouldn’t think such a technologically advanced species living in highly urban areas has much call for a farmer, but you’d be wrong. chuians and conturians build enormous bubble-dome rooftop gardens which produce the majority of the food and parks for their cities.

working in one of these parks isn’t an easy job, and cax had to get special cybernetic implants in hs ears to do his best work. the implants enable him to actually “hear” the plants’ progress and lets him have an early warning if any are sick.

#20 Abby the nearsighted cockatrice

| November 25, 2011 | 0 Comments

abby is a cockatrice which is an ENORMOUS vicious uh. cock. with a lizard tail. if i remember my mythology correctly it was something insane like they hatch from the egg of a 10 year old cock (not hen) that lies in the sun for 30 days or something rediculous. they live in barren areas and, like a medusa, can turn things to stone with a glare.

they are not small. they are not cute. ponies are stupid. if you disagree well, that’s just like. your opinion, man.

abby suffers from nearsightedness which means that most of the time she just sets the desert around her on fire in a blind rage. anyone who gets close enough for abby to turn them to stone usually regrets thinking she’s harmless…

this and the manticore (which has a human face and no mane, bronies.) were two of my favourite monsters as a kid. so i’m rather miffed to see what’s become of them due to pop culture.

#19 Arlo

| November 25, 2011 | 0 Comments

arlo’s a mogma (one of the new races in skyward sword) and mogma are known to be treasure hunters. but what good is hunting for treasure if you can’t carry it all, or can’t break it down into sellable amounts? that’s where arlo comes in.

arlo takes the role of a bookkeeper, tracking every mogma’s discovery and worth of that treasure. of course his services come with a small fee. what mogma would give away such skills freely?

#24 Famous Ray

Famous Ray

Famous Ray

You’ve seen him around, on red carpet premieres, in the VIP section of exclusive clubs wearing an open shirt and shoes with no socks. Occasionally he shows up on television to offer a semi-informed opinion. Who is he? What the hell does he do?

The best way to explain it is, Famous Ray emits a low-level celebrity field, which makes the world treat him as though he is a minor celebrity, no questions asked. Some of the perks of his power include:

-gets free food, clothes, discounts in general
-people listen to his opinion
-VIP/backstage entry to clubs/shows
-people just always assume he’s important, or with the band, or that actor’s assistant, or a producer, heir to some fortune, etc.

When you get him high as hell, or when he’s in his cups, he’ll tell you that his power is because way way back on his mother’s side, he’s part vampire. Dude’s just crazy, right? Witch-One‘s not so sure, and so keeps a close eye on him.

# 25 – the Purple and Yellow Alligator

| November 25, 2011 | 0 Comments

The purple and yellow alligator is one of the most fearsome creatures.  He is swift and merciless.

<Creator comments:  this character was the first of the Creatures I created, and he came from a nightmare I had where he was actually chasing me through a swamp.  You know, those dreams where you try to run, but can’t seem to move?>

[In 1974, at the age of 12, I drew a series of “comic books” detailing the adventures of Merrill, a 15-year-old human boy, in the Other Land, an invisible dimension which co-exists with our own.  The characters I am submitting throughout the 30 Days are the inhabitants of the Other Land.]
