#6 P.D.Q.

| November 7, 2012 | 0 Comments

“Catch me if you can… oh wait no one can!”— spoken right before his first arrest by a superhero…

Name: Patrick Desmond Quimby

Unlike the previous characters I’ve posted P.D.Q. was not manipulated, lied to, or forced into doing evil, he’s just a thug with powers.  In his case super-speed.  He can run faster than the speed of sound, run straight up wall, run across water, cause mini tornadoes by running in circles, the usual.  He can also swip his arm at super sonic speeds, releasing a focused sonic boom he can direct as a blast of concussive force.  He specialized in robbery.  He had already been engaged in criminal behavior when the evil politician (and I will be getting to this guy, still working on specifics) came to him in prison to offer him a taste of real power.  He jumped at the chance and never looked back.

Trying to save his life… he lost his soul…

A geneticist working on cancer research, Dr. Eduard Bradley came down with a particularly aggressive form of skin cancer.  Using alien genetic samples taken from Riza provided by government contacts Dr.  Bradley tested his new cure on himself.  While it did halt the spread of his cancer, his skin thickened and harden.  Left unchecked this condition would have resulted in his eventual petrification.  The evil politician who provided him with Riza’s DNA comes forth with a serum that keeps his body at least partial mobile, but as he requires regular doses of the serum he now finds himself in virtual slavery, beholden to the mysterious dictates of a truly evil and ambitious man.

Pat has fought side by side with Indy in the Playmobil war but after that, came the Civil War, where the Octan Movement defeated the Royal Army after a lot of casualties! And Pat since then re-lives stuck in his past, when he was a heroic captain and not the shadow of Indiana. And being stuck in the past is dangerous…

DAY 7-21st Century Sandshark Studios Presents: MISS NOCTURNAL

21st CENTURY SANDSHARK STUDIOS PRESENTS

A DAN NOKES HAPPENING…

THE 30 CHARACTERS IN 30 DAYS

DAY 7

MISS NOCTURNAL:

Maya Alvarez was born in Havana Cuba in September of 1940.  When she was four, her father was killed by the local organized crime ring for not paying his protection fee for his small business.  Her mother did her best to try and raise her, but at the age of 10 her mother died of breast cancer.  From the age of 10 on, Maya lived on the streets, fending for herself as a petty thief, and sometime street performer.  Over time she came to the notice of a group of revolutionaries, who slowly indoctrinated her into their group.  When the Cuban revolution broke out, Maya acted as a spy and saboteur.  When Castro came to power in 1959, Maya joined the Cuban Army and earned a commission.  In 1960 her life was changed forever when she, along with four others across the globe were abducted by a unknown alien entity, and had experiments performed upon her, before being returned along with the others.

At first, things seemed normal; all she could recall was in a fractal dream state.  But within 48 hours, she began to mutate, her skin turning purple, growing bat like wings, and developing a form of echolocation that could be used as a weapon like a sonic scream.  She also developed a strange connection to try and find the other abductees.  Through a set of unusual circumstances the group all met up and over time formed a team of costumed adventurers called THE PHANTOM FIVE.  Maya was dubbed Miss Nocturnal by the media.  At first she was considered a loose cannon due to her aversion to her western world team mates, and general temperament to her other members.  But over time she became a trusted and fiercely protective member of the group, going so far as to develop a strange romance with fellow team member Construct.

Then in 1975, the team joined other super heroes, villains, and world armies, to do battle with a space conqueror known as GHOR THE AHNILALATOR.  Ghor was defeated but at a high price.  Many soldiers and supers were killed including Miss Nocturnal and all but one of The Phantom Five.

#7 Bodil Lockhart.

| November 7, 2012 | 0 Comments

At the tender age of six Bodil Lockhart witnessed the murder of both her parents. They had not exactly been pillars of the community but they had loved Bodil more than anything. Her father, Danny was a small time player in the mob, a thug, a bodyguard but a loving dad. Her mother, Danny’s childhood sweetheart, loved him despite what everyone said about him.

Times were tough and Danny had been skimming some cash from his boss, Carver, who quickly found out. Carver was a small fish in a big pond, and so he wanted to make an example out of Danny, make a name for himself. He hired the best hitman around, the man only spoken about in whispers.

He hired Wolf Down.

On a warm autumn evening when everyone was asleep, Wolf Down broke in to the Lockhart home. Bodil woke up to hear the last cry of her mother. She snuck from her bed and crept towards her parents’ room; the door was ajar and the carpet was covered in blood. As she looked into the room, the large red eyes of a skeleton thin, albino white man in a suit met hers. His blood smeared mouth curled into a smile as he tilted his head to one side. He spoke to her once.

“I was only paid to kill two. And I am full now.”

That was all Bodil remembered of the man she later learnt to be Wolf Down. The police had never found him, or her parent’s bodies, and the case had gone cold years ago. Bodil hadn’t given up, just grown up. She spent the next twelve years of her life tracking this hitman. She learnt self-defense mixed martial arts, she learnt to fence and shoot. She trained for revenge.

During this time, Boss Carver had risen through the mob ranks and was now running the town. Word on the street said that Wolf Down was Carver’s right hand man, never seen with him publically but always taking care of the dirty work. Bodil decided she needed to become that dirty work. Causing trouble for Carver in any way that she could soon meant that she was the top of Wolf Down’s list.

He broke into her home like he had her parents’ – but this time, she was waiting for him. The gaunt white figure entered her room. Bodil shot him clear in the chest, clear through the heart. Wolf Down screamed as his face twisted and distorted. His eyes bulged and turned red as his jaw unlatched and dropped, his mouth growing and ripping, opening like a Venus fly trap.

He crumpled to the floor as a sickening screeching sound escaped his lips, accompanied by a cloud of billowing black smoke. His face turned human again.

Bodil approached him. His eyes looked sad now; all the red had drained from them. He opened his mouth and spoke.

“Pishacha. Run child!”

His warning was far too late. The black smoke poured over Bodil, into her mouth, ears and nostrils. The evil, demonic spirit of the Pishacha had a new host now. It had Bodil. The Pishacha needed human flesh and organs to survive, and Bodil needed to finish what she had started. She needed to kill Carver.

It was time to eat.

Never EVER stick your face into anything on distant alien planets.  No good will come if it.  Just ask this unlucky space traveler.  He got the Sickness.

#7 – Thirdy

| November 7, 2012 | 0 Comments

Thirdy insists on being called Thirdy. Not because his real name is weird-sounding, but it spares him from having to distinguish himself from his dad and grandpa whenever someone calls their house. Thirdy loves hanging around HMA for two reasons: girls and better street food selections.

Specter of Malice

| November 7, 2012 | 2 Comments

.There is an old saying passed between hushed lips that only the blackest souls of the deceased never cross over, because the very sins they committed while they still draw breathe in the mortal world, bind them  as an obstruction to the salvation they crave.

Wraiths of these lost souls – sinners of the greatest evil in their life, reside in the darkest of crypts, where they prey on the souls of the recent dead, and sometimes even those of a wandering traveller. As eons pass, these apparations grow more attuned to the realm of mortals, and their forms evolve in deadlier manners to fit their vile and wicked obsessions.

The Specter of Malice, is one such phenomenon. A grostesque manifestation of the wicked atrocities these beings commited in their life and afterlife, its sole purpose is to wrought eternal terror and despair onto any being- living or dead.

“Let us feast on your  flesh, your sins and your soul, And be reborn as part of us”.

Day 8. Pokemon Type – Plant. Species – Forest

Not too sure who these guys are as I set out to draw something different. Like how this happened though.

Day 7-NonPerson

| November 7, 2012 | 0 Comments

NonPerson is the hero you think might have been there, but you can never be sure. Wearing a special suit they designed NonPerson can make the save while leaving the person they rescued and any witnesses unsure what they saw. The suit makes them appear to be something there in your peripheral vision, but if you turn to look directly all you see is air. So next time it feels like you just missed out on getting into trouble, NonPerson was probably there saving the day.

#6 – Fiddenmar & #7 – Kolag

| November 7, 2012 | 0 Comments

This is Fiddenmar & Kolag, a couple of notable NPC’s in a campaign some friends of mine play in.

Fiddenmar is a halfling (hobbit) merchant while Kolag is a goliath (similar to giant) barbarian.

They were your typical entry-game npcs; playful merchant that grants an initial quest, and her stone-faced bodyguard. But as the party’s adventures centralized in Fiddenmar’s city of service, she and Kolag continued having run-ins with the party.

Through the players’ exploits, the two have grown substantially wealthy and continue to provide the party access to higher level goods (at a price) and opportunities for further adventure.

Fun fact: Kolag got inspiration for his name from Jared‘s first D&D character, a goliath barbarian named Lokag.

edit: my bad about missing a day, tuesdays are my long days at class/work.

Jean is a sophisticated creature born out of an experiment that was successfully completed. Mixed with part
monkey, part Gorilla, part prime minister, Part Mad Scientist, and Part British Noble Man, Jean is the only
experiment Dr. Leandros has been able to create right.

Jean is ultra-intelligent calculating faster than most computers  and coming up with many solutions
to complex problems, sometimes maniacal (part of his nature). Jean can control his instincts most of the time
even when he is annoyed by Leandro’s constant examination and questions. Jean is self-conscious about his
appearance because he realized how hideous he looks, but then he remembers how he is the only creature
smart enough for planet earth. Jean hates bananas, loves go-carts for some reason, loves puzzles, grape juice,
the smell or newsprint in the morning, chamomile Tea, Pipe smoking, Leandro’s library collection, Chemistry
sets, Blue pens, and guacamole among other things. He does not like pancakes, and certain humans like his
creator. Jean has just begun exploring his new life, we will find out how good or evil he will be
