#30 Lucky

| November 30, 2011 | 0 Comments

Like her name implies, Lucky is good at getting out of sticky situations with no thanks to her intelligence or strength. She is trying to work on the bond with her stubborn dragon, Jack.

#29 Mika Petsen Talven

| November 30, 2011 | 0 Comments

Stuck both in his winter coat and in an infatuation with an ex-girlfriend, Mika is terrible at accepting change in his life. He is a bit of a bumbling idiot, but he means well, even as he sheds on everything you own.

#28 Jolanka

| November 30, 2011 | 0 Comments

Before being rescued from her tribal homeworld, Jolanka was living in hiding with an adoptive son—also an exile. She violated strict gender roles and her long horns were docked as punishment. Despite this, she is optimistic and friendly, becoming a mother-figure from many of the other exiles and orphans on Captain’s ship, no matter the species.

#27 “Boots”

| November 30, 2011 | 0 Comments

Assistant mechanic, Boots takes his name from the specialty shoes he must wear while working on the ship. His race comes from an extremely mountainous world, in which all the buildings and floors for that matter are at an incline. He is slow-moving and slow-thinking, but by no means stupid. Calling him “male” is an approximation, as his race has three sexes, all necessary for reproduction.

#26 Aurig

| November 30, 2011 | 0 Comments

Aurig comes from an aquatic warmongering race, which found his show of mercy to one enemy to be quite distasteful and worthy of death. Disgraced, he fled his home and lives as an exiled general, in charge of weapons on Captain’s ship.

#25 Tamzen Heidrun Ingvar

| November 30, 2011 | 0 Comments

Tamzen is a human-alien hybrid, far up her family tree, as the only effects on her body involve increased flexibility and color-blindness, which explains her horrendous fashion decisions. She works as a language instructor at a large metropolitan university.

#24 Kinna Nananea

| November 30, 2011 | 0 Comments

Serving as the ship’s doctor, Nananea has trouble keeping it in her pants, so to speak. Despite her lack of understanding of personal boundaries, she is deeply caring for her comrades. She has little respect for cultural standards, especially her own race’s restriction on interspecies relationships and gender roles.

#23 Demos & Ko

| November 30, 2011 | 0 Comments

While evolutionarily related, Demos and Ko’s species—the Kalliphon and Kallikin—are enemies. Ko (the big guy), grew up in a colony of Kalliphon, learning to obey and fear them, while Demos was raised by Kalliphon exiles, and knows nothing of the prejudice. He just knows he wants to make friends with Ko.

Demos works as one of the ship’s mechanics, while Ko handles matters involving clothes, including tailoring, repairing and creating. Ko still hides every time Demos comes to his studio to chat, which is quite a feat, considering Ko is 13 feet tall.

#22 Rrnrha

| November 30, 2011 | 0 Comments

Coming from a species known for their technological mastery, this guy works the rather unfabulous job of tech support for a university. He is naive by nature, and content with his life—that is until he starts falling for an adjunct professor. His species emotionally and chemically bonds to only one mate their entire life, so he is in the process of deciding if she could really be the literal “one.”

#21 Oxa

| November 30, 2011 | 0 Comments

One of the few surviving members of her species, and a former guardian of their queen, Oxa’s life is riddled with rage and guilt. She feels like the arm she sacrificed will never be enough to atone for the downfall of her race. Standoffish, blunt and too serious, she seems to only be close to the Captain, to whom she serves as first mate. Only time will tell if she manages to get her revenge.

#20 Captain

| November 24, 2011 | 0 Comments

Captain is the very definition of exile. Her race is currently aligned as an exclusionary, militant, and abusive empire, wiping out worlds and civilizations on its campaign through the galaxy. Captain is originally from a low caste, slave turned refugee, turned infamous resistance leader. She is mysterious and cold, and even many of her friends suspect she never advanced past her species’ perceived evilness. Captain runs a large cruise ship that effectively acts as a refuge for outcasts of various races, hand-picked as worthy by Captain herself. This practice where some of her deeply hidden compassion is evident, though she appears to be creating something beyond just a sanctum.

#19 Samira

| November 23, 2011 | 0 Comments

Samira is a science and logic minded gal who is studying biology against her family’s wishes. This tension only escalates when she becomes accidentally pregnant, not to mention being abducted by aliens along with her boyfriend. While a steadfast atheist, she starts to realize the importance of her cultural roots, especially after meeting and befriending a plethora of alien life, and learning of their own family and cultural tensions. She wears her hijab as a symbol of Earth.

#18 Kendall Ramsey

| November 23, 2011 | 0 Comments

Ramsey is football player and an English major at a Southern Californian university, which are the only normal things about him. He was born female, and is equally comfortable in that skin—as his physical sex is something he can alter due to powers obtained from an alien visitation when he was younger. This contact made him a target, and he was abducted along with his pregnant girlfriend to a rag-tag group of misfit aliens from all over the galaxy. Ramsey’s DNA may hold the key to bringing back an extinct power and stopping a military crusade from completely crushing life in the galaxy.

Starting on a large batch of alien characters, which I’ve barely illustrated before now.

#17 Noble Saurians

| November 23, 2011 | 0 Comments

Another fantasy species. Gotta have dragons.

#16 Jungle Elves

| November 20, 2011 | 0 Comments

Another fantasy species, playing with established ideas.

We’re behind but not out!

#15 Winter Orcs

| November 17, 2011 | 0 Comments

Not a character, but a fantasy species. I’m doing a handful of these for a class project. I am examining and recreating fantasy staples, trying to reinvent them at the same time as keeping them recognizable. Playing with tropes, stereotypes and cliches as much as I can get away with!

#14 Wildflower

| November 16, 2011 | 1 Comment

A regional sheriff, renowned for being incorruptible and a total hardass. She favors her fists over pistols, and her big dumb dragon over any human.

#13 Primrose

| November 13, 2011 | 1 Comment

Primrose is a courier, a sharpshooter and a coward. Also a main character!

Did a little bit more with this one! Still unsure on her hair color.

#12 “Moss”

| November 12, 2011 | 0 Comments

A man who left his old name behind for freedom and self-exploration. While his new life promises adventure, his past is haunting and hard to ignore, despite his cheery and optimistic nature. He is studying to be a doctor.

Changing gears again, Moss exists in a fantasy wild west setting. Cowboys, gunfights, magic and dragons!

#11 Talidirian

| November 11, 2011 | 1 Comment

Another Warcraft-based character, bear with us.

Tali is a goofy young night elf who ran away from his country town not out of rebellion, but for ADVENTURE. Major case of big fish in a little pond syndrome, as it takes a much more experienced adventurer to teach him how to live out on his own

#10 Dragonpinch

| November 11, 2011 | 0 Comments

A nerdy little warrior gnome, she turned to combat when she realized she was utterly incapable of learning magic. Her knowledge of physics and anatomy make her a formidable opponent, basing her strength on skill rather than raw power.

A character that exists in the Warcraft universe (lol wow). I didn’t see any rules against fandom OCs so… there you go!

#09 Annalisa Silva

| November 9, 2011 | 0 Comments

She grew up the spoiled only child in a sheltered, upper middle class family, but left it all behind when she turned eighteen and moved into a major metropolitan city. She makes a living as a writer for a fashion magazine and thinks body modifications are the next big step in self-expression.

#08 Richard Fallow

| November 8, 2011 | 0 Comments

A young man in a large religious family, Richard has always been overlooked. While sheltered and naive, he is not close-minded. As he starts to learn about the world outside his sect, he bumps up against his family’s expectations and a growing crush on a certain tattooed gal.

#07 Joan “Wildebeest” Whittaker

| November 7, 2011 | 0 Comments

Being over seven feet tall with impressive strength and dangerous natural weapons, Joan serves as one of Mizuki’s personal body guards. However, she is shy and hesitant. Finding herself tangled up in crime due to her brother, Joan left secretary school prematurely, but luckily was soon taken under Mizuki’s wing.

#06 Robin “Rhino” Groves

| November 6, 2011 | 0 Comments

Another one of Mizuki’s elites, Robin is charming, social and level-headed. She handles the diplomacy issues and generally boosts the morale. She hides her involvement with the gang very well, belonging to a group of socialites on the side.

#05 Laxmi “Hyena” Thompson

| November 5, 2011 | 0 Comments

The eight elite members of Mizuki’s criminal organization win animal titles based on their abilities and appearance. Laxmi earned her title from never talking to men. Her role in the group is technological—she handles cybercrime of all sorts. Her introverted nature makes her quite hard to engage with, but she is loyal to those she respects. There is alien blood in her lineage.

#04 Vera David

| November 4, 2011 | 2 Comments

A fashionable and progressive young woman who has ended up as a secretary for a successful business. She finds herself growing quite attached to her boss, and eventually falls into a relationship with her. She has a group of close friends who are all a little strange and non-mainstream. Her horns come from a little bit of subterranean dinosaur-person blood in her lineage.

#03 Roberta Smith

| November 4, 2011 | 0 Comments

A simple businessman, except she’s a woman. She doesn’t care much for her own femininity, and tries her best to blend in with her coworkers and be “one of the guys.” She starts seeing her secretary, and feelings develop beyond the casual powerplay office fling she was expecting, as she tries to puzzle out how to “be the man” in this situation. This future-retro setting sees all sorts of strange new humans and interspecies relationships. Former social roles are breaking and rearranging faster than anyone can keep up with.

#02 Alexandra Wu

| November 3, 2011 | 2 Comments

A corrupt policeman with her own idea of justice. She’s from a middle-class family and became a cop because she wanted respect, but ended up taking bribes. She likes if people are a little afraid of her. Exists in the same world as #01 Mizuki, and is in a complicated power struggle of a relationship with her.

#01 Mizuki Delaney

| November 3, 2011 | 7 Comments

Nicknamed “The Devil,” she is a powerful piece in a drug cartel of a big metropolitan city, in a 1950s-America-with-scifi type setting. Her heritage includes black, white, Japanese and species of dinosaur-like people which were unearthed by a mining excavation. She has a child who she shelters from the dangers of her criminal life. She also is involved in an ongoing illicit affair with an important policeman, a tribute to her success in her line of work.

A little late posting here, but everything will continue to be crossposted at my art tumblr!
