#18 Noodles

Unfortunately not a very creative piece-this is really a tribute to my cat-Noodles. Fun and quick piece though! (I need to catch up still!)

#17 Penguino

| November 19, 2011 | 1 Comment

Penguino is a fat penguin that got way too comfortable in last year’s halloween costume, so he hasn’t taken it off since.

*I really just wanted to draw a penguin in a caterpillar costume. Best combo ever!

#16 nJoo (art-rage mode)

| November 19, 2011 | 2 Comments

nJoo was born an anomaly to his peers…lacking the natural artistic ability to complete any pieces worth looking at. As he grows impatient and frustrated, he loses control and transform into a beast-raging through art galleries and destroying precious artwork. Ironically, in his art-rage mode, sometimes he creates  interesting sculptures and paintings  without intention. His only goal in this mode is to destroy all art and eliminate the one thing he lacks the ability to do in his life.

**continuation from my last piece-15!

The Joo’s are a working class of creatures that are extremely talented at the arts. They are born extremely diverse in their skills and can create masterpieces with just about any medium..within minutes. Njoo was an anomaly-born with a strange birth defect , he can barely manage to put together a painting resembling chicken scratches even with hours of work. That is until he starts to get frustrated–as he slowly loses his patience, he physically transforms into something else all together. Perhaps then he may finally produce something worthy of attention.

*This was inspired by a fellow artist friend (Andrew Hou, aka nJoo)…he told me to design a character based on him…so this is what I came up with!

**yet to be designed-nJoo Rage mode!

#14 Fangs Fowler

| November 16, 2011 | 4 Comments

Brandon (aka Fangs) Fowler has always a bit of a standout…For one, he always arrives to school before dawn and leaves after sunset…his recess/lunch breaks are spent in the janitors closet (he enjoys his privacy) and the only lunch he brings to school are bottles of a red drink which seem awfully thick to be “cranberry juice”. Kids like to tease his odd white hair and and the 2 front teeth that stick out of his mouth…hence they call him Fangs. Nobody really knows much about this boy other than that hes also extremely allergic to garlic. Other than that, he is just another eighth grader in his ordinary school.

*Going to admit shamefully that I watched the 2nd twilight over the weekend and thats really how I got inspired for this piece..3rd movie out this weekend also…darnit I think I’m going to see it.*

#13 Continual waiting…

| November 15, 2011 | 1 Comment

Loretta has been waiting years for the man of her dreams to return…each month that passes without him, a strange spider-like creature grows and lives on her..drowning her into darkness.  At 4 pm every day you will see her at her window looking towards the spot where she last saw the man.  People tend to mistake her as a spirit, but it is really the scurrying of the creatures around her that create the illusion of a misty silhouette.

#12 Waiting

| November 14, 2011 | 4 Comments

Loretta was 9 years old when she first met the man of her dreams while playing outside her house…although years older than her, she swore she would marry him one day. Since the first brief meeting, she has sat at her window waiting for this man to return…believing he will eventually to whisk her away into a happy ending. However as each month passes, Loretta grows more and more bitter and her thoughts grow darker….leading her mind to produce 1 strange spider-like creature for every month that the man does not arrive.

*** Can’t wait to design the older, aged Loretta…stay tuned!

Cona the Crisperian-Savior of all ice-cream lovers and protects them from soggy/chewy cones.

#10 Evergreen corp: #17

| November 11, 2011 | 3 Comments

So they say that the world revolves around the seasons…winter comes and all greenery goes…but to where? Sure they want you to think it merely dies and grows back the following spring…but the truth lie behinds the Evergreen corp:  An organized group of dwarfs living underground, managing our greenery and hold yearly marathons to migrate away our foliage in the late hours of our first winter nights. # 17 is the oldest marathon runner: at 300 years old, hes the prized runner of the four leaf-clover..and hes still the quickest and best at finding the most secluded and secretive spots.   Fauja Singh has nothing on this little guy.

#9 Darebear

| November 10, 2011 | 10 Comments

Darren is just a normal kid ..until you try to get in his way. The seemingly inconspicuous bear backpack he carries everywhere is  more than meets the eye. Bullies? Homework? unable to reach that last bag of chips on the top shelf? Dare-bear can eliminate all those obstacles. As with any great power comes great responsibility…Darren has to guard his bear backpack greatly to prevent it from falling into the wrong hands!

#8 Demon Samurai

Demon Samurai

This was definitely a very experimental piece. I just felt like drawing a samurai–and got fascinated by the different types of mask styles. The eerie designs made me wonder if something even more evil could be hidden behind these masks. I definitely wanted to push colours of this piece…felt like i could have done more, but at this point I just wanted to drop the pen or else it would have gotten too tight. Definitely a very different piece from anything I’ve done. A very good learning experience indeed.

#7 Donna Dago

| November 7, 2011 | 5 Comments

Donna Dago is an odd girl in Mr.Gillies grade 2 class. Her fascination with toilet paper has caused inconveniences with her peers and they have taken action to ban her from the school washrooms. Perhaps her strange obsession will be detoured by the new boy in class, Axol, who oddly reminds her favorite animal, the Axolotl.

G.P (aka Gangsta -P)

“You don’t have to run and confess,

Hes looking for you,

He gon’ find you, he gon’ find you,

So you can run and tell that, run and tell that, run and tell that,

Home boy home home home boy.”

#5 Axol

| November 6, 2011 | 4 Comments

Axol (the axolotl) was sent on earth to blend in with his human peers. Naively thinking that it would be a simple task, he not only ends up picking an outfit that was made more for misfits, he also decided that his fins and tail were not dead giveaways to his true identity. He may also have to get use to covering his toes as well as making sure he rinses off completely after his daily swim, in order to draw less suspicion to his peculiar look.  Chinese is his favorite language to learn as it oddly resembles his own mother tongue.

#4 March

| November 5, 2011 | 2 Comments

March is a constant seeker. Traveling day and night on his motorbike seemingly motivated by a force that gives a strength to persist through all barriers or conditions. His purpose is unknown, but some say hes searching for his runaway love.

Artist note: Its been a long while since I’ve done a more serious character. Definitely difficult to do as it definitely broke me out of my comfort zone. This character has been brewing in my mind for a while-he’s a stereotypical bad boy-but has been softened out of meeting this one girl. I wanted small subtle signs that indicate his soft side-the plush keychain (perhaps given to him by his gf) and a puzzle piece necklace. He is every girl’s dream character-the man that’s tough and will do everything to fight for you…yet deep down a sensitive soul. Can’t help but feel so attached this character-If I have more time I would have loved to render the image better, but I actually don’t mind the rough painterly feeling and tried to keep that feeling throughout.

#3 F.

| November 3, 2011 | 6 Comments

Felicia , aka “F” is bad to the bone. Not only is her goal in life to achieve an ‘F’ in all her grade 7 classes, but also to beat the record for the most F-bombs dropped in a day.  She is every parents worse nightmare- tell her to do chores and you’ll get her favorite response to “f – off” . Whatever you do, just don’t tell her shes cute. Shes everything but.

#1 Golddigger

| November 2, 2011 | 7 Comments

She is the ultimate gold-digger. Straight out of the school of vanity-shes got a sense of style no one can beat! Using her (ex)boyfriend’s head as a stylish clutch and a sedated fox as her neck warmer, you will never find any of her accessories anywhere except at the “GD” store (which only 1 % of the world may be allowed to step foot in).

Artist note: Wish i had more time to do a couple more doodles of her in other poses-I would love for the fox to animate with the girl’s expressions. The fox ultimately becomes her slave and fully mimics her emotions. Perhaps when this challenge is over, I’ll get a chance to revisit her.

This is only the first post and I already feel attached! Must full away and begin new concept for # 2!!!

Hey there! First time entering this awesome challenge-I’m currently a concept artist based in toronto designing for online/mobile games! Type of things you will see me do will hopefully vary from day to day-depending on mood. I like to consider myself a versatile artist with lots of different styles. I’m mostly known for doing cutesy/funny drawings but I’d like to take this opportunity to venture into some darker/more serious designs! Good luck everyone! Looking forward to seeing some great work!
