I am ....hmmmm... married (13 years now), been an artist for, well, as long as i can remember. I published (self through Lulu.com) a graphic novel called Beautiful Tragedy last year/early this year, currently half way through volume 2. It's based on my life's experiences, and the types of things people like me go through every day.

#9 The Singularity

| November 9, 2011 | 0 Comments

At the center of a black hole as described by general relativity lies a gravitational singularity, a region where the spacetime curvature becomes infinite.

The Singularity is meant as a future time when societal, scientific and economic change is so fast we cannot even imagine what will happen from our present perspective, and when humanity will become posthumanity.

These ideas inspired this character.  She is the most powerful being in my universe, with unknown origins, and unknown lineage.  It is believed by some that she is the next step in evolution.

#6 Barbarian

| November 6, 2011 | 0 Comments

This is just a barbarian woman, sort of.  This is going to sound very strange, but i had a dream the other night i WAS a barbarian woman, using only axes (they called me Axe Mistress).  Wielding a huge 2 handed war axe, and small throwing axes, in my dream i fended off a small group of invaders to a village.  The interesting part was, after the raiders were driven off, i tried to help the local people, and discovered a small artist studio, and realized this huge muscular barbarian was also a lover of arts and an artist herself. (kinda like me ;D).  Anyway, there’s todays.

This is Manik Panik, she is nuts! and she can manipulate peoples minds, confusing them, making them believe they see things that aren’t there, and basically drive people nuts.  FUN huh?  This is all my wife’s doing.  Thanks Beverly for the inspiration (and assistance).

Studied Shamanism as a youth (as part of her native american heritage), and Wicca as the traditions her mother’s side of the family pursued.  Bored with the nature of both practices, she delved into forbidden knowledge and learned to tap into the shadowy dark side of both arts.  Now, her vast mystical power threatens to tear her apart, if she cannot learn to control the negative energies.

This is Grief.

Her power is to summon fear imps from the nightmare realm.  As her opponents fear level rises (or most any other strong emotion she is able to summon more powerful creatures.

Her powers emerged as she hid in a closet as a little girl and watch her parents get brutalized then tortured to death.  Her fear, anger and sorrow were so deep, she became a “beacon” for creatures of the nightmare realm.  Now she welcomes them to her as friends, allies and companions.

2011 Challenger: Melanie Dawn McGreevey

| October 19, 2011 | 0 Comments

Hello! My Name is Melanie Dawn McGreevey, and i am so excited to actually give another shot at the 30 in 30 challenge, I didn’t quite make it last year. 🙁  I did enjoy every minute of the creative process, and seeing what other people have come up with.  This promises to be (at least for for me a self exploration).

You see, since last year i have been creating and “publishing” my own webcomic; Beautiful Tragedy.  While not completely autobiographical, it has helped me as Tyler helped me grasp many moons ago, “The story i HAD to tell”.  In the interest of full disclosure, and the fact that i am an open book, you see, I am a male to female transsexual.  Two years in to transition,a nd have been living full time as the person i was supposed to be born as for well over a year.  The life i live, and the predjudices people like me face is not easy, and very few understand what it’s like.  I won’t get all preachy here, i do that enough on my FB page.

Anyway, I look forward to the 30 in 30 challenge, and can’t wait to get started!  Good luck to all of you.  And to anyone reading this who is not in the challenge… what wrong with you!? just try it!

#18 Alpha

| November 22, 2010 | 0 Comments

Alpha is a team commander within Project G.A.T.S., and one of the best members they have.  She is proud, compassionate, and understanding… also, constantly living in her brother’s shadow.  Flux (her brother) is team commander of the first team, and second in command to Attitude Adjuster.  Alpha has always played second to her brother growing up, he was always the standout; athlete, student, and extremely popular with his peers, and mentors.

Into adulthood, Flux was trained in the navy seals, and was the first selected to join the modern Project G.A.T.S. team.  Alpha was also very successful, but her parents devoted all their time and attention to her brother, and left little for her.  She used this “time in the shadows” to become a excellent field leader, and highly respected leader.

She was nearly thrown off the team when it was discovered she was carrying on a relationship with a fellow member, of her own field team!  That member was Justice, while this has happened from time to time, the administration almost made an exception to her relationship, because Justice is also a woman.  They thought it would be bad publicity, but Flux went to bat for his sister, and kept her as team leader of team 2.

# 17 Omega

| November 22, 2010 | 2 Comments

Omega is a egotystical villain bent on the destruction of one man.  Attitude Adjuster.  He was once a recruit for Project G.A.T.S. but was ultimately refused full membership due to his assistance that he lead a team, and that only he could do so.  He claims to be one of the most powerful genetants in the world, but again, his ego has gotten the best of him.

Omega as an identity is at the moment, unknown to AA, but will soon see what happens when a “student” turns on the “teacher”.

WAY behind, I am currently working on getting caught up over the next two days I have two more nearly ready to be posted..please stand by.

#16 Amethyst

| November 17, 2010 | 0 Comments

Amethyst, or as her armor used to be known as MASS (Mobile Armed Stealth Suit) was originally designed by the US government to be the new “face of the US military”.  The Prototype suit “The Amethyst” (thus named for it’s purple paint scheme), disappeared on it’s first trial run.  A few months later it reappeared, helping US troops in the middle east.  The original test pilot was Samantha Riggs, it is unknown if the current pilot if still Riggs or someone she trained.  Needless to say, Amethyst does indeed help the US in its war time endeavors, but also has it’s own agenda.

Shortly before the MASS suit reappeared, all of the plans, and blueprints for the suit disappeared, and the main development team “died” in a plane crash.  Time will tell if she/it is truly on the side of the US or her own side.

#15 Brotherfury

| November 15, 2010 | 2 Comments

The only name anyone has every known him as is Brotherfury, a name given to him by his sensei while he trained with monks in the far east.  The name granted him as Brother Fury for his ferocious fighting style, and unrelenting aggression.  After two decades of training he left the monks and ventured into the wilds, there he was attacked by a pack of wolves.  These were no ordinary wolves, they were Lupine, or werewolves.  He tried valiantly to fight them off, but after being bitten numerous times he passed out, and strangely left for dead, not eaten.  Awaking and soon discovering what they had made him into, he was horrified and immediately went to seek out a cure.  his first stop was to a famous (or infamous) “healer” name Herrick Hildebrand (later to e known as Herrick Soulreaver).  Interested in helping brother Fury, Herrick devised a potion that may either neutralize or destroy his lycanthropy all-together.  The potion was a mixture of poisons, herbs, and quick silver.

Herrick sent the young monk on his way with little hope, but curious interest.  Brother Fury traveled around the realms of Storm Wild taking his tincture once a day with food (as instructed).  Soon, he discovered that the lycanthropy did not go away, rather it afforded him complete and utter control over his shifting.  Changing his moniker to Brotherfury, the lone monk made many friends and many more enemies as he helped those who could not help themselves.  He was summoned to the kingdom of the Eastern Elves, they were curious about him, and wanted to “ally” with him, and utilize his unique talents.  After learning they wanted of him, he vanished and took to the road again.. alone

Not fond of this drawing, but no patience to redo it… this is getting difficult!

#14 Major Mahoney

| November 14, 2010 | 0 Comments

Major Melanie Mahoney is the group troop commander for the armed forces of the mega-corporation The Organization.  The Organization is a “evil” multinational corporation bent on world domination through finance, and military might.  Their unwritten manifesto is to either control or destroy all genetants on the planet.

Major Mahoney is a driven woman, driven by ambition to rise even higher in the ranks of The Organization.  She and he legion of ground troops called “Black Coats” (for their armored black trench coats they wear).  Her main focus/nemesis is the hit-woman “Crackshot”, whom she has a bit of a history with, which only drives her harder to find and enslave her.

#13 Jericho

| November 13, 2010 | 0 Comments

Aiden Jericho along with being a founding member and sub-commander of Project: G.A.T.S., he is also a Cruetelan (like Tarot).  Having lived only 834 year thus far.  Never loses his cool, almost cold, and uncaring at times, Jericho leads his team with perfect, and expects it from them.  He has seen many terrible things in his life, and it seems to have “shut off his emotions”.  Outwardly he seems stoic and steadfast, but when he is with his one love, Vanessa (aka Necra) his emotions come out and he seems just the opposite as on the field and with his squad.

Jericho has a very unique power, he can “turn off” a Genetants powers.  meaning, he can make them powerless for a period.  Obviously this power is immense and feared by many.  On the flip side to that, he can also “turn on” a latent genetants powers.  If they have no emerged yet, he can make them come out.  He helped many of the GATS members open up their reception to their powers untapped.

#12 Algorithm

Just a character design I drew up today.  I was thinking of a sort of cyberpunk hacker type.

yes, uninspired.

#11 Sevlow

| November 11, 2010 | 1 Comment

Sevlow, as a young girl was abandoned in the woods by her guardians for unknown reasons.  She was found by a pack of wolves who nursed her, and nurtured her as she grew.   When she reached young adult hood, the wolves revealed themselves to her as being a pack of Lupine, or werewolves.  To protect her, and grant her their gift, the turned her into a Lupine as well.

While she grew she became attached to two wolves in particular, whom she trained under and became very close to.  While she is still a member of the pack, she does come and go as she pleases.  She has become the pack’s unofficial protector from the outside world.  Something about her allowed her to become something “more” than a “typical” Lupine.

The pack call her “Gaia’s Chosen” as she seems to have better ‘shifting’ control, and just overall more powerful than the rest.

I went to bed early and missed yesterday so i got 10 and 11 today 🙁

#10 Attitude Adjuster

| November 11, 2010 | 1 Comment

Attitude Adjuster is the commander of a group of Genetants charged by the world’s governments to protect them from other “super-threats”.  This group is called Project: G.A.T.S. (Genetant Anti-Terrorism Squad).  They are broken down into 4 teams of 5 members and AA oversees all of them.

AA is a top tier genetant, a tactical genius, and a hard-nose ass kicker.  He is remarkably resilient, and seems to have an endless supply of energy to power his super-powered plasma blasts.  He is always cool, and even headed, even in the most stressful situations.  With all the different personalities that answer to him, he has a knack for knowing how each will react to hi, and he adjusts his leadership style accordingly.

He has a long and rather dark past, that he thus far has kept under wraps.  When asked of his past, he simply replies “My past is ‘dead’, and it will stay in the ground.”

Also, if anyone remembers Sir Mix-A-Lot, he had a member of his crew with this name…seemed to fit so much I had to “borrow it”.

#9 Gaia

| November 9, 2010 | 0 Comments

This is the human form the goddess, mother earth takes from time to time.  Gaia comes to the material plane of mortals to temper, and heal the planet.  Her anger is slow to surface, but when it does the entire planet quakes and trembles.

I basically am showing what i perceive to be mother earth in “human” form.  Definitely a “character” I’d like to peruse story wise someday.  At the moment I am working on another comic that may or may not see the light of day lol.

Anyway, that is all. 😛

#8 Steel Pulse

| November 8, 2010 | 0 Comments

Steel Pulse aka Shara Draken is a cybernetically enhanced hit-woman, who changes her allegiances as often as she changed her clothing.  Short tempered and very vindictive, this cyber-assassin is not to be crossed.  She is the niece of Marat Matthews aka Tarot (from yesterday), but rarely associates with him, unless she is hiding out or can “use” him to her advantage.  Marat plays along with her when she’s around, but will not help her be a criminal, and is always trying to change her.  As stubborn as she is, he usually doesn’t try too hard.

She is always on the run… from who?  The Organization- a multi-national “megacorporation” who have their hands in everything from cyber technology to alternative energy, to medicine.  The Organization is not to be crossed, and that’s exactly what Steel Pulse did.  She volunteered for a cyber enhancement program within The Organization, under the understanding that she would become the ‘property’ of said patron.  She soon grew tired of being told what to do and when to do it, and vanished.

Always running from from organization agents, Steel Pulse only comes out of hiding for a job.  Which in turn has made her even MORE enemies, namely Crackshot (post number 2).  Having had to compete with her in the past, the two of them have bumped head on more than one occasion.  Currently, Steelpulse is believed to be hiding out near where her uncle;e resides, but not with him.

Steelpulse’s abilities include cyber enhanced reflexes, strength, speed, and healing.  Making her one resilient marksman…woman.

#7 Tarot

| November 7, 2010 | 0 Comments

Tarot aka Marat Matthews is one of the most ancient Cruetalans on the planet, second only to Nightmare aka Dreamwalker.  Matthews was born over 2000 years ago, and has lived in virtually every corner of the world.  He is very knowledgeable about society, customs, and is fluent in over a dozen languages, and several now instinct ones.  Marat and his family hold a deep, dark secret.  An ancient evil, even more ancient than his own bloodline taints the Matthews clan.  He is one of only a handful of clansmen that have fended off this taint.  Most of his family was killed off over the centuries by his arch-nemesis Nightmare.

Marat has accumulated a huge fortune over time, and now lives on a large estate in the north west and mentors a team of Genetant heroes called The Centurians.  His niece “Steel Pulse” (to be highlighted soon) has been with him and his teammates, and against them over time.  Now she stays away from her uncle (for now).

Tarot and his fellow Genetants work against great odds to keep evil Cruetalans away from the rest of humanity, for the power a single Cruetalan is enough to level a large portion of a city, and easily kill ‘regular’ genetants.

Marat is a powerful sorcerer (as most Cruetalans are), but is peerless is his arcane knowledge, and only one other (Prophet) is even close to his vast knowledge.  He is also very quick, and physically fit, having trained for decades in various martials arts.  Tough he rarely relies on these skills, he has them to ‘fall back on’ if the need should arise.

#6 Annihilator

| November 6, 2010 | 0 Comments

Annihilator was chosen from humanity to replace Vagabond (yesterday’s post).  He was allowed to keep all of his memories, and opinion with he understanding that his mission was clear cut, and any time he strays too far from the mission that he’d have his powers stripped.  He was to uphold peace on an intergalactic level, and if he ever comes across Vagabond he is to bring him back to the fold or kill him.

As a human, Annihilator aka Rylan Corman was a police officer, so he was used to trying to keep the peace.  Now with the ability to travel through space, his ‘jurisdiction’ is a little bit larger.

One time, several years ago, Annihilator and Vagabond did meet.  It was not the outcome that was supposed to be.  They joined forces to fight off an attacking force of Sartents who were attempting to destroy a non-spacefaring race of primitive people.  After they drove them off, Annihilator tried to tell Vagabond what his masters had told him, but Vagabond wouldn’t listen and disappeared back into deep space.

Old feelings and connections keep Annihilator close to his home world in order to protect it, mush to the dismay of his masters.

Annihilator’s powers are almost the same as Vagabond’s.  While Annihilator does not have the same weakness of Vagabond’s.  Vagabond actually seems to wield power greater than Annihilator as his human form cannot hold the kind of power Vagabond has.

Also, Vagabond went up on the fifth but it was REALLY late.

#5 Vagabond

| November 6, 2010 | 1 Comment

A true Vagabond, he is an interstellar traveler.  Wielding immense power granted to him by a mysterious force in the universe, he is supposed to defend peace across the galaxies, but he has a bit of his own agenda.

He has vague memories of his life previous to gaining his powers, and they seem to involve the Azorn race decimating his people and planet.  Now, his main goal is to find and wipe out all Azornians.

Powers- survive in the vacuum and cold of space.  Light speed flight in space.  Light-based energy projection.  Super resilient, and strong.  He seems to thrive in space, but can only be in the atmosphere of a planet for short times.  He actually doesn’t know the extent of his powers, and only one person can reveal his true nature to him.  Who is that person?  You’ll see…tomorrow.

Not a ton of info again, but it’s super late and I got caught up playing World of Warcraft and forgot 😛

#4 Witch

| November 4, 2010 | 0 Comments

This is just a concept I came up with for a sort of modern witch (wiccan).

No special story (sorry).

#3 Gothic

| November 3, 2010 | 2 Comments

Daphne Carter aka Gothic was plagued by nightmares all her life.  Her visions of murder, terror and monsters caused her great emotional stress.  She barely ever slept, and grew to be a quiet, introverted girl who was looked upon by her peers as a freak, or a weirdo.  Her grades were never very good, but when they hit bottom, her parents pulled her out of school, and tried to home school her.

One morning, her mother didn’t wake her for “school” and she was suddenly awoken by screaming.  She ran down the hall to the living room, and there in the center of the room were both her parents, lying dead, and covered with blood!  Over them stood a menacing figure wielding a bloody knife.  He turned and glared at her, she stood frozen with sheer terror.  He smiled, and in a horse voice said; “Now girl, it’s YOUR turn girl.”  With that, he dropped the knife and fled from the house, laughing.

Soon she was moved from foster home to foster home until she finally ran away from home and disappeared.  One night, she was walking down a dark alley still thinking about that gruesome scene in her home, and began to cry.  She collapsed near some trash cans and sobbed.  A couple of thugs spotted her and approached her.  Before the could do anything she looked up at them with a soulless glare and screamed for them to go away.  The two men laughed, but soon were overcome by sheer terror, and visions of nightmarish creatures.  The men ran away, and Daphne smiles through her tears, discovering she CAN stand up for herself.  She soon began to discover the lengths of her new found powers, and it dawned on her what the killer had meant by “It’s your turn now.”

Not sure what happened with my picture editing here, but it’s late so it had to go up (tried a bit different style).

#2 Crackshot

| November 2, 2010 | 1 Comment

Bio- Arianna Fletcher aka Crackshot, is the daughter of another “famous” marksman Aswin Fletcher aka Bow.  Arianna was mostly raised in an eastern monestary where she did learn to be an excellent marksman with a bow, but after leaving at the age of 16 and moving back to the west she discovered guns.  Having little direction in life, she became a hit-woman, and an assassin for hire.  Taking the moniker “Crackshot” she became rather infamous, and sought after.

After years of assassin work, she was hired for the ultimate target, her father.  When she failed to kill him, and was caught by him (and one of his allies) he told her who and what she really is.  Aswin is a member of an immortal race of Genetants called Cruetalans, therefore she is half Cruetalan, and will live a VERY long time.  There people are born with unique abilities which for Arianna allowed her to excel at her profession.  He convinced her to stop taking of kill-for-hire work, and do something more “legitimate”.  So, she became a vigilante for justice, and helped the weak, and helpless from criminals of the world.

Before, Crackshot was sought after for her hit-woman abilities, now, when criminals hear the name Crackshot, they fill with dread, and know, she never gives up til her “job” is finished.

#1 Epic

| November 1, 2010 | 3 Comments

Not sure what all I am supposed to say here, but I’ll give it a little flavor.

No one knows Epic’s real name or if he’s even human, one thing is for sure, he is definitely a “super man”.  Virtually indestructible, super humanly strong, and can fly at great speeds.  He seems to have no weaknesses, BUT he does have one;  Oxygen.  That’s right, the air he “breathes” is very slowly weakening him, and will eventually kill him!  he doesn’t realize this, but if he spent more time away from our oxygen rich environment he might be MORE powerful, and live longer or possibly forever.

He feels all alone in the world, he feels no one can measure up to him, and this has made him aloof, cold, and seemingly uncaring for the troubles of mortals, and even “lesser” super-powered being (called Genetants).  While he does protect humanity (when the mood strikes him), he wants no fan fare or praise for it.  He seems to have little to no drive in life, other than just always being “epic”.
