11/18/2012: Specimen 16, Olimyoo Legionnaire

| November 19, 2012 | 0 Comments

NAME: Specimen 16  SPECIES: Olimyoo  ORIGIN: Pakinare

A member of the infamous “Centurion” program, Specimen 16 has sown destruction throughout the Multiverse in the name of the Children of Tartarus. Plucked from his peaceful home world as a youth, his great size and strength catching the interest of a Tartaran overlord, Specimen 16 took to the indoctrination quickly, his will broken and body transformed into a nigh-unstoppable war machine. Over the years, as his body became damaged, the Tartarans saw to its reconstruction. When the Tartaran Empire fell, with no master to control him, Specimen 16 went ronin. Though his skills of death-dealing are now for hire, he holds tightly to his final orders, vowing some day to murder the Lost Agency and their allies in the name of Tartarus.

#17 Skyclad

| November 17, 2012 | 0 Comments

The pod containing abstract creation material (we would probably refer to it as “genetic”) shot off into space, its planet of launch destroyed as per the Protocols of Ta’aru. Rather than a midwestern farm, however, the pod landed at the annual radical arts festival known as Burning Man. The material assembled itself into an infant and was found by a couple of Burners, who saw it as a magical occurrence they had manifested and adopted the infant as their own.

Champion of the Burning Lands, she was raised according to the Principles of Black Rock City. A fierce DIY warrior priestess, she is naked and unashamed, in control of her fiery spinning poi as her mother taught her, and wielding the Tesla blade made by her father. Radical self-sufficiency, radical self-expression, constant invention and radical inclusion are the watchwords of this nomadic adventurer.

She possesses the usual powers of a Champion of Ta’aru: flight, superhuman strength and durability, heightened senses, an inquisitive, activist nature, and the ability to focus her chi into energy that can be projected. Her ‘Special’ is the ability to heal physical, mental, and spiritual damage/trauma.

Day Eleven: Ardent Way

| November 15, 2012 | 0 Comments

It had all lead to this, she’d put in a hell of a lot of effort to get this far, the odds had been far out of her favor and yet she had triumphed. A cup of coffee, altogether too hot and sweet, was hers. Triumph.
The darting eyes of waiters under thick black hair and too much pressure from the obnoxious American canoe competition team on table four had not looked her way, the steaming pots of cheap coffee and weak tea poured by without ever diverting in their path to her table but still she had triumphed over the odds. With a cunning combination of feminine charm and obstinate determination that comes from paying a ludicrous fee for the breakfast buffet she had broken through the ranks of waiting staff to her goal: the coffee. Kind of a shame that it tasted so awful.

11/13/2012: Zenn Zaran, Last of the Celestial Artificers

| November 13, 2012 | 0 Comments

NAME: Zenn Zaran  SPECIES: Celestial Artificer  ORIGIN: Unknown

Brilliant scientist, war hero, trans-universally acclaimed opera singer. Zenn Zaran is all of these things and far, far more. Were his life a book, the stories of a thousand lesser beings would barely fill the prologue. The last of an otherwise extinct species, Zenn Zaran is considered by many to be the most intelligent corporeal being in the known Multiverse. A celebrity without peer, he has grown reclusive, holing up in his mansion in Nexus City. No one has met with Zenn Zaran and spoken about it for over one hundred years, though he is occasionally sighted in Nexus City, flying on the back of his Scintillating Star Dragon, Magnifithrax.

Day Nine: Space Piratex

| November 13, 2012 | 0 Comments

Space, that was the dream. Space — the place children (our future) all across her country had lived for, before they discovered reality TV in their teen years, the place though which ufological wonks of all ages had wanted to drift.
The actual place was less majestic than the men and women of science-based television programing had promised and closer to an afternoon floating with the refuse of a billion people in the waves of a Lama Island beach in a waning Summer.
The Space Piratex probe didn’t mind, for a start she’d never been to any of Lama Island’s waste-disposal beaches and so was unable to see the sad similarity. No, an enterprising class of public school over-achievers hadn’t built her to despair at the state of the space, Space Piratex had been built to win that class the finals of the “Sweep It Under the Rug: Environmental Solutions” competition. Her directives were clear: clean, clean that cosmos up long enough to get her masters a photo in three of their local papers. It was a task she probably could have completed too, if it weren’t for those attention lacking kids and their rudimentary android building skill sets.

11/12/2012: Jedel Parghoga, Zyntradi Gunslinger

| November 12, 2012 | 0 Comments

NAME: Jedel Parghoga  SPECIES:  Zyntradi  ORIGIN: Zyntradi Commonwealth

A renowned sharpshooter and notorious psychopath, Jedel’s guns are for hire to anyone with enough credits and moral lenience to meet their price. Little is known of Jedel’s past, though one can often tell where Jedel has been based on the “splatter art” left behind. Jedel considers itself a true artist, canvassing the walls with the its opponents’ ichors.

Escaping from a Tartaran slave mine when he was a youngling, Tahun Lahtu grew up on the streets of Nexus City as a pickpocket. Not without honor, Tahun uses his good looks and talent for black magic to steal only from the very wealthy and the irrevocably corrupt. NAME: Mohk-Sha  SPECIES: Xitalcit  ORIGIN: The Black Hellscapes of Yorn

Once a simple refugee from the Hellscapes, Mohk-Sha learned to survive in the shadowy tunnels of the Undercity. #09 – Ekthuul The Raiser

| November 9, 2012 | 0 Comments

Ekthuul is a female Achodut — her cool green skin and beautiful dorsal spines are a dead giveaway, very distinct from the giant sailfins and blue skin of the males. The name ‘Ekthuul’ most closely corresponds with a symbol set humans would call alchemical, complemented with a set of the heavier elements from our Periodic Table. She holds the most honored title of ‘Raiser’ because she is the best at raising energy levels – not only of individuals, but increasing the capacity of devices, and vehicles. She is ‘The’ Raiser, the one who discovered the gateway to the Transit System, including the line which, by all indications, leads to a source of unlimited energy, enough to raise all the Achodut to what we would call godhood, but what they refer to as the ‘Steady State’. Ekthuul is currently exploring the Transit System armed with the finest Harmonic Detractor, a weapon which draws upon the bearer’s willpower to siphon off underlying energy patterns from other creatures.

A point of etiquette: don’t call her cold-blooded. In fact, she believes human notions of ‘warm’ and ‘cold’ blood to be metaphor at best, and backwards ignorance leading to lowered energy levels at worst. It is, as they say, “un-raised”.

11/08/2012: Molg, Ginza Hive Soldier

| November 9, 2012 | 0 Comments

The primitive warrior race known as the Ginza are from a lonely star system on the farthest ring of Esrah’s Belt. Uplifted from a stone-age civilization to work as bodyguards and hired killers, many Ginza have found their way to Nexus city as part of a merchant or noble’s retinue. Though compact and relatively clumsy, the Ginza are incredibly strong, their deadly beaks able to cut through flesh, bone, and carapace with ease. Ginza bites have even been purported to bypass power armor on more than one occasion. If there is one downside to the utilizing the Ginza as retainers, it is their willful stubbornness. Matched with a level of intelligence bordering on non-sapience, the Ginza can become easily confused and, once a notion is in their head, there’s no dissuading them from it.

| November 1, 2012 | 0 Comments

Doctor Karl Heinz Apokalypz was a brilliant Bavarian scientist who became obsessed with the Thule Society, a German occultist group that was rumored to have had the likes of Rudolf Hess among it’s members. While attempting to make contact with the mythical city the group is named for, Apokalypz instead contacted an off-planet being that possessed his body and spirit giving him unnatural strength and turning his skin into a rocky metallic substance. Presently he is plotting to destroy the Awesome 5! and was last seen watching them on a monitor in his lair as they received  mad props from the president for defeating the evil Ramses (as seen in Awesome 5! #1).

#28 Elvis-714

| November 30, 2011 | 0 Comments

Elvis-714

The 714th clone of his gene sequence, this alien was the only survivor of the craft that crashed in Roswell, New Mexico in 1947. After being released from Air Force observation in 1962, he joined U.N.S.C.E.N.E. and appended his name to Agent Elvis-714.

Elvis-714’s motivation for joining U.N.S.C.E.N.E. is to help clean up the mess his crash made. It was leaking fuel from his craft that cause the mutations leading to most of the world’s superly-abled.

After decades of policing the heroes and villains of the world, Elvis-714 takes a stern approach when dealing with the superly-abled.

#14 Daphne #15 Serena

| November 30, 2011 | 0 Comments

Daphne is a wonderful dancer who has just ended her scholarship at a dance school and is now looking for work. Her teachers say she is skilled in most dance styles and is a very good potential choreographer as well. She finds a very small ad in the paper that seems promising, but when she shows up at the place, she’s somehow transported onto an alien mothership.
The aliens, sort of giant lumps of flesh and goo, deeply admire human culture and art. They tell her they have stolen her for her dancing talent and that she must dance for them every day. They have serums that prevent her from aging and she cannot escape. If she refuses to dance or if they get bored wth her, they will kill her. She is dismayed that she’ll be stuck forever until they murder her, but tries not to complain. This is partly because she sees no point and partly because she tries to tread carefully around the aliens.
The aliens give her an accompanyist (who they have also recently stolen) named Serena. Serena is as good a musician as Daphne is a dancer. The aliens supply her with pilfered instruments. Serena had a string of fame for a while. She was known as a child prodigy, playing instruments with ease at 7, but now that she’s an adult, people’s interest has petered out. She refused to attempt playing in an orchestra because she wants to be the center of attention. She was also desperate for work and also answered the ad. Serena is irritable and snappish, angry at the aliens for taking her away when she feels she could have become a star again. She passive agressively antagonizes them and complains loudly to Daphne behind their backs. She’s also irritated at being the dancer’s accompanist rather than playing solo. She tries to escape at any chance into the aliens’ escape pods even though Daphne tells her there’s no use.

Both Daphne and Serena are worshiped by the aliens as gods of a sort because they can do these things and the aliens can’t. Daphne feels uncomfortable about it and Serena is mostly disgusted.

Daphne and Serena constantly collaborate and try to come up with radical new material to keep the aliens appeased.

# 30 The Chimaera

| November 30, 2011 | 0 Comments

While the phenomenon known as Chimaerism is rare, the incidence of un-diagnosed cases is in fact much greater then those that are discovered.  The fraternal twin, absorbed during gestation, maintains a presence inside the body and mind, a living link to other dimensions in which he or she was the dominant, consuming fetus.  The individual with the Chimaera may then be endowed with unusual powers of perception.  They may posses the ability to step outside oneself, figuratively, being more self aware- or even literally, through astral projection. Some might even posses the ability to see through time, or into alien worlds, or into others minds.  Automatic or spirit writing is a common practice, as is doodling;  Also morbidity, an obsession with death and the afterlife, as well as spiritualism and channeling   They may be found commonly among artists, composers, and writers.

#18 Quozark the Unflinching

| November 28, 2011 | 0 Comments

Bow down to Quozark, for he is the Unflinching One.

Nothing shocks Quozark for he sees all & knows most. He comes from the 43rd dimension. How is that even possible you ask? Quozark’s only response will probably involve him commanding you to pleasure him in a lewd & untoward way. And if you knew anything about his physiology, the very idea of the mechanics involved would mortify you.

—-

Drawn entirely on a whim in about twenty minutes. Proud of the outcome, though not entirely sure as of why. He wasn’t made with the intention of being a part of it, but a while ago I had this kind of comedy idea involving aliens from different races disguising themselves as humans while scouting out for their respective invasion forces. Problem is they were each so equally unaware of what actual humans were like, they had no idea & ended up all roommating together. Hijinks ensue. While Quozark is clearly not people-shaped, I think I could pretty easily incorporate him into that somehow.

cax is a chuian farmer. you wouldn’t think such a technologically advanced species living in highly urban areas has much call for a farmer, but you’d be wrong. chuians and conturians build enormous bubble-dome rooftop gardens which produce the majority of the food and parks for their cities.

working in one of these parks isn’t an easy job, and cax had to get special cybernetic implants in hs ears to do his best work. the implants enable him to actually “hear” the plants’ progress and lets him have an early warning if any are sick.

#19 – Starsmith

| November 22, 2011 | 0 Comments

The Big Bang.

Contrary to popular believe, the Big Bang was not an immediate event. Instead of a sudden flash of heat, matter and energy, the Big Bang took almost 3 million years to fully form, with the “creation wave” as super-scientists with level 57 minds or higher call it, the reach of the Big Bang’s promethean fire as it spread in the vacuum, giving birth to our universe, still believed to be expanding upon the unending blackness, creating even more life.

Within the span of those 3 million years, when the pregnant mass of the Big Bang was the only titanic sun in our universe, many civilizations rose and fell, nothing like them ever to be seen again, as if the light of creation had given them a divine spark missing from creatures the universe would later produce. Out of these, the Starsmiths were without a doubt the most advanced and respected of all.

The Starsmiths were not even a race, per se. They were a gathering of all the different races and cultures that had been born around the Big Bang that united into a single people. They worshipped the Blast, the Light and the Fire. But they also studied it and researched it and it is through their work that they learned to weld stars out of the raw material of the Big Bang. They learned to harness the white liquid fire and give it shape in their giant black matter anvils with all sorts of different tools. Instead of sparks, rare atoms and particles would fly with each strike of the dwarf-hammer and from the completed star; cosmic residue and dust could sometime form miniature solar systems around them, the most delicate craftsmen even able to do so at will, creating sequences of stars and planets until they’d confectioned a pocket-size galaxy.

And though this masterfully crafter stars, solar systems and galaxies were tiny in comparison to the Universe being birthed by the creation wave, the power they were able to produce was not, in fact being able to produce more raw energy than a regular star due to their unique design. These became the base for all Starsmith technology, enabling all of their creations to work almost eternally on the power of the stars.

The Starsmiths were a peaceful people. They believed in creating just for creations sake, only to discover more of the mysteries of the Universe and deepen their bonds with the Blast, the Light and the Fire. However, they were certainly a selective people, only letting a few carefully chosen to join their ranks and always guarding the secrets of their trade with the utmost zeal.

The rest of the then expanding Universe fell on the Starsmith’s home planet fast and hard, making as much display of their brutality and their mercilessness, trying to shock the peaceful crafters into handing over their secrets and their technology, each race eager to use it in order to slave and subjugate the others. But what the J’Ungians, the Firrodyians, the Pthaegoraeans, the Mrxsti and many others did not count on was the means the Starsmiths would be willing to adopt in order to protect themselves and their sacred teachings.

To the most orthodox Starsmith anvil-meisters, the Furnaces were an abomination of everything they believed in: They were weapons. They were very powerful weapons, powered by their microcosm technology and using the same principle as the Big Bang’s creation wave effect to produce a weapon so effective that it immediately adapted to the wielder’s size, age, fighting style, atmospheric conditions, the adversaries numbers, their age, their size, the weapons they were using, their fighting patterns in order to come up with the optimal attack and defense solutions for any and all situations.

A single Starsmith wielding a single Furnace had enough power to stop the advance of the various alien armies marching against their planet in a matter of seconds. An entire army of Starsmiths was capable of completely decimating them and leaving no trace of the defeated. So terrified were the allied races of the destructive power they’d just been witness to that they lost all interest in ever wielding it and afraid of any creature that could do so willingly and with the same abandon as the Starsmiths. The 7 original races scattered to the seven corners of the Universe, bowing an unbreakable oath to never again come together as one as they’d done that day for fear of history repeating itself.

And so, the Starsmiths were left alone, in the center of the Universe, amongst the wreckage of their home planet and the unending debris of their recent struggle. All of these they saw and realized they had lost their way and given in to the temptation of power. The Furnaces, once their greatest achievement had now become the symbol of their hubris.

And so it was decided that the Starsmiths could not continue. All of their tools, their technology and their discoveries was taken to the core of the Big Bang and was destroyed there in the burning crib of existence, every single Starsmith making a sacred oath never to craft again for as long as they lived. But this was not enough to make up for their great sin. Not to them, or to the Universe, or to the Blast, the Light and the Fire.

From within their ranks a single one would be chosen. He with the purest heart, the noblest disposition and the bravest spirit. He alone would have to carry the collective weight of their shame. He would have to carry on living, feeding on the power of the Furnaces grafted to each of his arms, an eternal reminder of their sins now repurposed as a tool to spread peace and understanding through the Universe, as the Starsmiths had always intended.

And so was Ahn Lu chosen. Chosen to forever roam the Universe in penitence.

The Last Starsmith.
