#9 – The Neb

| November 9, 2011 | 2 Comments

This is probably one of the only characters that won’t have a design to accompany it (I say that now, 9 characters in, so we’ll see).

This is the fourth character I’ve created that is based on my wife, so it’s grouped with the Michelles. Michelle has a nosy side, one that you wouldn’t really know unless you were with her 24/7 and lived with her. She hates surprises, and Christmas and birthdays are the most annoying holidays because of this. Whenever she’s being nosy, she calls it being “nebby,” which I guess is a Western Pennsylvania way of putting it. When I told her I was going to do create five characters based on her, she said, “Well, you have to do one that spotlights my annoying traits, too,” and this is that character. I’d apologize, but she kinda had this coming.

The Neb (Christine Schumaker) is ostensibly a detective, key word being “ostensibly.” She works for a private investigations firm…in the records department. Meaning she has access to a lot of files…files she shouldn’t be looking through during her lunch hour. However, Christine’s nosiness has actually been an asset to the company. Due to her nebbiness, she has actually saved a few lives from Death Row, and overturned a few “open-shut” cases. It’s a good thing she’s such a yenta…

Design wise, I see her looking like my wife, with a raincoat and some kind of fashionable shoes. She carries a magnifying glass, but it’s mostly for show. She’s the Jessica Fletcher of the mid-thirties set.

#30 Chris Brightstar

| November 30, 2010 | 0 Comments

Chris Brightstar is a Native American indie wrestler who currently holds the GWC heavyweight championship. He’s a bit of an anti-hero, playing the part of a face (good guy), but never getting along with other faces. He does what he wants when he wants it and so far no one has been able to stop him. He claims to be the “Bright star that wrestling needs and will turn to in the present and future.”

29.5 El The Demon

| November 29, 2010 | 0 Comments

El The Demon is an indie wrestler claimed to have come up from Lucha Libre (Mexican wrestling focused on larger than vibrant personalities with masks and high flying, fast paced wrestling). Unfortunately, he doesn’t realize that “El” and “The” mean the same thing, and the bookers don’t seem to notice or care, so he looks like and idiot. He’s a heel (bad guy to you non-wrestling fans out there), but try as he may he just can’t seem to get any heat (boos, hatred, the like). Mostly it’s just laughs…

#29 Jacob

Jacob is the odd ball of the group. He’s not a total smark, he enjoys being a mark. He gets into the stories and loves the action. He also tends to sneak off and reenact the events with his dol… um, action figures. He also lacks some social common sense, attending wrestling shows wearing button down shirts and khakis. May be fine at bigger shows, but in little indie shows in someone’s barn in Eastern Kentucky… not so much.

#28 Dee

Dee (short for Destine) is a casual wrestling fan who tends to criticize the absurdity of angles and storylines and so forth. But he totally marks out at times for wrestlers than none of the others can understand the appeal of.

#27 Becca

| November 27, 2010 | 0 Comments

Becca is the only girl in the group (for now), but she hangs with the boys knowledge wise. Though she does watch it largely because of the cute, muscle bound guys, she does get into the stories as well.

#26 Drew

| November 26, 2010 | 0 Comments

Drew is a HUGE John Cena fan/mark. He rallies against the norm and supports Cena, even though most grown men hate the guy. When the women and children shout for Cena, Drew is right there along with them.  He’s got a temper, this one, but in general he roots for the faces, the good guys. He’s a bit of a know-it-all too, claiming to be a bigger and more knowledgeable fan than his contemporaries.

#25 Goobley Gawker

| November 25, 2010 | 0 Comments

The Goobley Gawker is an indie wrestler saddled with one of the lamest gimmicks in wrestling history. He gobble gobbles and struts down to the ring, does the Funky Turkey, and then proceeds to bumble around the ring while his opponents usually pummel him into gravy.

===========================

Long time wrestling fans will no doubt see this for what it is, which is a parody of an old Survivor Series mascot from the late 80s or early 90s, the Goobledy Gooker. If you don’t have a clue what I’m talking about, Google it. 🙂

I wanted to do a Thanksgiving themed character for today, and this idea came to me that tied into the new thread of characters I’m doing now, starting with “yesterday’s” (quotes since I posted it just minutes before this one) “Joey” character.

So there you have it, a wrestling turkey… now there’s an oxymoron, right, right? lol

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

#24 Joey

| November 25, 2010 | 0 Comments

Joey is a wrestling fan, a smark (smart mark), and he usually roots for the indie guys or heels. He and his buddies get together after every televised wrestling show and dish on the previous night’s events.

========================

This is from a new idea about a bunch of wrestling fan buddies that talk about, well, wrestling, in comedic fashion. Some spoofage, some hi-jinks, and some good old fashioned strip humor.

The tentative name for this was “Smarks”, but I discovered that name is already in use for something similar. So it’s no an unnamed idea that I will explore further on down the line. 🙂
