Returning Challenger 2013: Jesse Kiefer

2013-creator

Jesse Kiefer’s back again doin’ a lil’ East Coast Swing!… wait… East Coast? Whoops that’s the lyrics to MotownPhilly… Hey everybody! I’m back for a third year of 30characters! I’ve been surprisingly successful with this challenge having completed it two years in a row! 2011 year I cut my teeth on this project thinking that I’d create characters for my webcomic Tank-Monkey), and while last year I stated that I hadn’t used many of them?… two years later SEVERAL have slowly trickled into the strip from that first year (even ones like the Wixits which I honestly never thought I would use…) Despite starting with an intent or a theme my characters in past years?… they usually devolve into randomness… either decided by a dice roll or inspired by the Elementary children I am lucky enough to teach.

Since last year I continued  vlogging on YouTube where I developed many of the puppet characters from last year and continued my role as a green screened Hologram Head.

I had my first public convention appearance with my partner in crime Axton Kahler of zombieoaks.com.

I co-created a #hastag game sorta inspired by the 30Characters challenge called #5thpanelguest which encourages creators to take any given comic strip to take it one step further in the form of a guest panel. I wrote a lengthy blog about it if you’d like to peruse that you can read it here.

And I finally published the Just For Kicks book I’ve been sitting on for almost 5 years! (Ironically one of the characters from 2011’s #30characters challenge will be indirectly responsible for the end of that webcomic… who knew… newbies? Be careful what you create! it might END your webcomic… just sayin…)

This year I have no plan… Whew… that’s probably not a good way to start… but let’s see what I come up with without constraints… let’s just see shall we?!

Hey everyone,

The name’s Tim! I’m 23 years old, currently occupying myself with everything art. I’ve been lucky enough to be able to fully engulf myself in art in hopes of one day making a comfortable living off of it.

Last years pieces were all done using the iPad. In fact, nearly 50% of all the work I’ve done throughout the year was created with the iPad because of ease of use, lugging my work with me wherever I go.  I’m not sure what will come of this years challenge, but I’m definitely looking forward to it. Can’t wait to see everyone’s entries, best of luck to all!

2012 Character Challenge

Peak any interest? Come find me! Luckily (or unluckily), I’m sprinkled all over the first few pages of Google. See, I did it for you so just click! Collab? Talk? Play? I’m down!

2013: Returning Challenger Approaches

| October 29, 2013 | 0 Comments

Returning Challenger Hey Y’all!  I’m back for another month long round of character designs!!!

I’m Chrystle Roth aka theJabberwokk. I am currently 26 years old and going to school now for business administration. I still like drawing sexy women and designing costume. BUT! This past year I join a goofy DeviantArt group that does nothing but draw Sailor Moon characters traditionally.  They offer art challenge s and I have found my new fav thing to do: Design and color the most un-traditional Sailor Scouts ever.  I drew fricken Daft Punk inspired Scouts that had pasties.  PASTIES!  Albeit they were technically bad guys but whatever.

This year, like last year, I am going to use one of those theme challenges for my entries.  This years is the secondary/modified monster list. I am, however, going to do strictly females of various body shapes, sizes and ages.  As much as i know i need to improve on my male forms, with working retail (still), I know i need to be able to get off work and draw a form that I KNOW I can modify to be unique, without worrying about whether or not the downstairs anatomy even makes sense.

Here’s wishing everyone luck!!!

2012 Returning Challenger: Natalia M (Ozzie Scribbler)

First off, I participated last year and never finished the challenge. Having a major art block and struggling to keep my pace I eventually didn’t publish past my first two characters, although having a few more, even if mostly rushed designs.

My name is Natalia MaÅ‚achowska, I’m 22 and a recent art school graduate from Szczecin, Poland. On the Internet I’m consistent with nick Ozzie Scribbler, so if you stumbled upon such username, it was most certainly me.
I’m a huge cartoon and comic geek, though pretty lazy when it comes to my own art. That’s why I’m hoping to use this month as an opportunity for some self-growth.

For all interested, I post some of my art on deviantArt and share my thoughts on various matters on Tumblr. Feel free to check them out.

Good luck for all the challengers this year!

Sincerely yours, Ozzie

Hello everyone! It’s your favorite contestant-

Wait, what?

You don’t remember me?

Well, that’s to be expected. Last year, while I technically mostly completed the challenge (I got up to twenty-eight characters), I also uploaded none of it here. While I got some great creations out of it, such as secret agent Harley Kawasaki (Race car driver by day, guy who turns into a motorcycle by night), ruffian inventor Ashton Maple (Musclebound ungentlemanly steampunk inventor), and a woman who uses a ghost made out of cigarette smoke to punch people, the only thing I got close to uploading was a rough text description of The Jailer in my drafts. It’s a little embarrassing.

But, hopefully, that’s a thing of the past!

This year, I’m planning on coming back with a vengance. Or at least with a moderately large chip on my shoulder. I’ve recently been working on a superhero universe of my own, filled with notable groups like the Heroes Council, the Allstars, the dynamic duo of Bishop and Rook, etc. But the problem is, aside from these people and a few loosely related to their group, I’ve got jack diddly. So, my plan for this year is to make a superperson a day, or at least someone related to the superheroes. Natrually, I reserve the right to not do this and to post something or someone that isn’t a superhero, but I’m going to try and keep with the theme. I may or may not draw everything, depends on whether I bring out my tablet or not.

(We are still supposed to post these, right?)
