Jesse Kiefer – 30 Characters in 30 Days

| November 30, 2012 | 0 Comments

It was fun folks! My goals for the project were much looser this year. A few of these characters will get some use soon, some I already started using before the month was even over. (Pofigs from Day 9 and Leobertin from Day 2 were both featured in this video from the 19th and I can’t wait to use Tony G. Block from “day 20” soon) I had to ditch the color towards the end but still got some fun stuff done.

It’s been a riot seeing what everyone has posted. The challenge was at times harder than I thought and at others easier. I really dug seeing all of the different styles and approaches to this challenge. There were SOOOOO many! I didn’t keep up with everyone’s submissions as much as I would have liked to… but wow! I definitely found some very cool new artists and creators to follow.

If you want to see how many of these characters will be used, I invite you to check my site as I put these crazy cats to work in my comic. 🙂 tankmonkeycomic.com

Thanks to anyone who commented on or retweeted my characters, and huge thanks to Tyler James for putting this all together, what a great project this has been to work on. An honor to be a part of it.

30 Characters 2010… I had a great time, glad I could be a part of this while seeing all of you go through it and make cool stuff all month. Congratulations to all those who participated and to those that were able to finish all 30!

In the latest episode of my art journal podcast, I shared my thoughts on the 2010 30 Characters Challenge…

And finally, here’s a slideshow where I share the above images set to music along with some process images (in rapid time-lapse style) to see how some were made:

Looking forward to using these characters in various projects throughout 2011 and checking in with the 30 Characters site to see what evolves throughout the year for the 30 Characters community as well. Thanks for all the inspiration and encouragement!
