Stone Butch

| November 2, 2012 | 0 Comments

Alias: Stone Butch
Name: Morda
Powers: Body made of organic stone granting heightened strength, invulnerability, and mass. Stone Butch can also glide through magical means.

Background: Morda is a living legend. The last of a mythical race of stone guardians, the Gargoyles, she broke free from the shackles her people had endured at the hands of mages throughout history, to be a protector of the innocent and servant of good. However, monster hunters throughout the ages have misunderstood her. One such monster hunter cursed her with a spell of immobility, trapping her as a living statue for all eternity. But at some point during the 1970s, Morda was freed when an enterprising crypto-paleontologist, Anna Nyugen, inadvertently lifted the curse by translating the magical inscription carved into the base of Morda’s outcropping which had been transported to a museum with her. Morda returned to her lifelong mission of upholding justice and protecting the innocent, but relied on Anna to explain the new world she found herself in. Eventually this blossomed into a romance. Morda took Stone Butch as her superhero alias after Anna used it as a nickname for her.

#2 – Cielo

Cielo Go hates you. Probably. Or you could just be a pet peeve, and goodness knows she has an entire list. It’s hard to know what makes her crack a smile, but she’s been known to enjoy putting weird (but delicious) things in her baking and will never miss an opportunity to put curse words in the icing. She also enjoys reading out bad poetry submissions at school paper staff meetings.

#2 Lonesome-Jones

| November 2, 2012 | 0 Comments

This is Lonesome-Jones , he doesn’t say much and not much is known about this eerie traveler, his clothing suggests that he must be from a distant past almost “western” including the mask made from a burlap sack he wears on his face. Yet, the strange thing is his left arm is replaced with an almost futuristic canon that shoots out laser beams from his arm.

The mask he wears is sewn in such a fashion it almost looks like he wears a permanent smile, though he is no nice guy. He wonders into town robs the nearest bank, burns down the nearest library he can find (he can’t read, guess makes him a little bitter) and then disappears as quickly as he appeared.
Lonesome-Jones, a nickname given to him over the course of time by people who have seen him. Mainly due to the fact he always travels alone it seems and some people have said “if you must sew a smile into a mask to wear, you must be a lonesome fella.”

Day 2: Maxximilian Timebuster

| November 2, 2012 | 0 Comments

Enter the arch-nemesis of Indiana: Maxximilian or Max, Timebuster. He is the most vicious, dangerous and insane villain in Lego City! He has even murdered the prime minister of the city in the tube by throwing him “accidently” to the lines a μsec before the train arrives!

His weapons: insanity, 4.5-digits IQ and it is rumored that his surname is a nick, given by an ancient timemachine he has discovered along with his two brothers. Ah, right, I missed this out: There are 3 Timebusters and no, none of them is a clone or a future self. We are talking about 3 evil triplet brothers. Max, Joe & Tony. But Tony is dead and his place has taken a cousin from outer space, Tim Timebuster. Talkin’ about a close family…

The colonization of Mars happened decades ago, but Mars is showing up the news once again as a burgeoning new scene in the art world and the man leading this artistic revolution is Carl Redmonde. He is the hottest trend setter of the moment in art, fashion, architecture…you name it, he has a very strong opinion of it. He can also boast a 5 year streak as the winner of the haughtiest raised eyebrow award.

#1 – Hashan

| November 2, 2012 | 1 Comment

This is Hashan.  She is a young half-dragon thief who lives in a desert town.  She often steals from the local bazaar in order to feed herself and the Cocoals that follow her.  She is quiet and tends to herself.  She also is ashamed of her dragon heritage, as she feels because that her father was a dragon that temporarily became a human, the people came to starve her family to near death.  She hides her sawed off horns and dragon ears.  She also attempted to wear gloves and thick shoes, but Hashan’s feet grew too fast for any normal shoe to fit and her claws are starting to tear her gloves off.  At the moment, she is homeless and living in the alleyways.

As for the Cocoals, they are an endangered species of duck that used to build nests near dragons, which helped deter predators as nothing is worth being burnt to a crisp by a huge lizard.  Due to human prejudice, though, dragons were hunted to near extinction.  With so few dragons in the world, Cocoals were helpless against the many predators, and now they’re endangered.  A few young Cocoals happened upon Hashan and were naturally wired to follow her around.   Desperate for survival, they stay near Hashan and will do anything she says (aside from leaving her).

11/02/2012: Frank Marcello, Agano Private Eye

| November 2, 2012 | 0 Comments

NAME: Frank Marcello  ORIGIN: Zuras  OCCUPATION: Private Detective

As a young initiate in the order of Ga’uum, Frank, then known by his birth name, Makaro, came to Nexus City on pilgrimige, a ceremony undertaken by all Agano peoples beholden to the “Wanderer God.” During a trip to the Undercity, he and his fellow initiates were assaulted by gangers. Left for dead, Frank climbed out of the Undercity, vowing to take his revenge on the criminal scum that ruled the labyrinthine tunnels below. After changing his name and serving seven years as an officer of  Nexus Security, Frank went into business for himself, opening a small detective firm specializing in gang-related cases. Several gangs have tried to assassinate Frank over the years and, though all attempts have failed, he has sustained numerous injuries and mutilations including a missing finger and a hoarse, raspy voice as a result having his throat cut by a vibro-machete.

#2 – Ralgar

| November 2, 2012 | 2 Comments

This is Ralgar, a dragonborn fighter played by my buddy Thom.

The team brute, if he can’t intimidate people into doing what he wants, chances are he’ll axe them apart. His short-temper has gotten the party into a couple scraps that could’ve been avoided with a little finesse.

Ralgar has none.

I wasn’t sure how to go about drawing his feet (arches back or straight legged, boots or paws??) ended up getting hit with the Liefeld Effect.

I think Thom uses Ralgar as a means to vent some real-life rage, but I ain’t really sayin’ that though. Okay, I am saying that.

2012 Challenger: Dalmonite

| November 2, 2012 | 0 Comments

Hello.  My name is Dalmonite.  Don’t mind the silly face up there, it’s just that I am a bit short on time.  :U

Right, so I like drawing and writing.  I go to a community college and hope to transfer to a university where I hope to study writing or animation.

I love to write stories, as nothing pleases me more than to tell people fiction that I made and to express my ideas.  I pride myself in my writing skills, but I need to develop my drawing skills, as well as cement certain designs.  Therefore, I took the challenge so that I can draw out some of my ideas, as well as make new ones.

Day 2: Bog

| November 2, 2012 | 0 Comments

Day 2: Bog

the water leaper

Bog (or Bogthe before he decided that the “the” was too bothersome) is a water leaper. Bog is a very traveled and cultured being,  there being very few waters (magical, salt, fresh or otherwise) that he has not swam in.

When preparing for travel, he swells himself with water and expands. The expansion cause his bat-like appendages to widen out and allow him to leap incredible distances. Once he is airborne, he releases the water the from two gaps in his bottom which is usually covered by wing-like fins. Now light, he glides the last few miles before starting again.

I have heard that “Bog”, besides referencing to a swamp-like area, also means “lukewarm” in Irish Gaelic. This is very appropriate name for this flying amphibian because many feel lukewarm about Bog. Its not that he is not social or entertaining because he can ramble on for hours if inspired to. He is just the type of being that always has a second plot behind spending his time with you.

You see, being a water leaper, Bog is obsessed with eating and is ALWAYS hungry for some reason or another. Bog loves seafood (his favorite being crab and other crustaceans) and would do anything to get more. This has caused him to get into much trouble with local fisherman and others, one event even involving a poor foolish man who happened to fall into the wrong ocean wearing a lobster suit.

As of recently, Bog has become a good friend to a local seller.  In his pimple-like bumps, he carries salt samples of the  water- bodies that he has been (as a means of adaptation). He has began to trade his salts with the seller for crabs and other meals. He also gives the seller information about other “exotic” means of finding product and life advice…in exchange for more food of course.

His current goal is to learn hebrew so he may convince Mikhail to cough over some of his delectable crayfish friends.

2 – The Animus

| November 2, 2012 | 8 Comments

The stones there had once been a part of something great- the ring itself was enormous, more like tectonic plates than mere stones. And the “when” of it wasn’t even worth questioning- not when the stones were there before the first human eyes to fall on them. Even the Fae grew silent at the mention of the Old Ring.

Whatever they were, they must have liked being what they once were. Some of the stones were proud to just stand and remember their past. Some of the stones were content to sink into the earth, to forget and be forgotten.

But anyone, be they merchant, farmer or wanderer, approaching the Old Ring would have to contend with the Animus- the stones that remembered to guard.

Day 2: Man-Slab

| November 2, 2012 | 0 Comments

Barry Connors was an aspiring actor that also worked as one of the Chippendale dancers until his friend Oliver Black made him an offer he couldn’t refuse. Black had just joined and  been named the leader of a new supergroup called C.H.A.M.P.S. C.H.A.M.P.S, which stands for Corp of Humans  Androids & Mutants with Preternatural Skills, was assembled by Kristie Kelly, the public relations genius that assembled the Awesome 5! for military.

C.H.A.M.P.S unlike the A5 was assembled for a group in the private sector. A Haliburton of superheroes strictly for hire. When Barry came to the group he had no super powers, but the companies scientists soon took care of that. They had a full roster of mercenaries but something was missing. Barry was to be the face of the group. Already handsome and buff, he was given an  experimental growth hormone that enabled him to grow to a height of 50 feet tall. The public can’t get enough of the new team, but there is a hidden secret.

21st CENTURY SANDSHARK STUDIOS PRESENTS

A DAN NOKES HAPPENING…

THE 30 CHARACTERS IN 30 DAYS

DAY 2

THE NARWHAL

Character Background:  Rene DeBlanc was an oceanographer and marine biologist.  Born in Brittany in France, he had a lifelong passion for the sea and made it his career.  DeBlanc won a scholarship to University of Washington in the US.  DeBlanc earned a Doctorate in 1956 with a double major in Marine Biology and Oceanography and began a distinguished career in the field heading many scientific expeditions to remote parts of the globe.

It was on one of those expeditions that DeBlanc was abducted by some unknown alien species along with 4 other persons from across the planet.  All five members had their DNA tampered with and augmented before being returned to Earth.  All abductees were gone less than a night, were apparently unaltered, and aside of vague dream like, fractal memories, unaware of the abduction.

But within 24 hours of their return the five individuals began manifesting strange powers and mutations.  DeBlanc began transforming into a humanoid creature with characteristics similar to that of a narwhal.  His strength increased 20 fold, could take extended periods underwater without oxygen, and had a tough skin that could resist extreme heat and cold.  He also had a psychic connection to the other 4 members of the abduction party.

DeBlanc then sought out those other members and over the course of several months began to develop a bond with those persons.  So to the point that they formed a team of adventurers called THE PHANTOM FIVE.

The Phantom Five over the next decade and a half became one of the preminent super hero teams of the 1960’s and 70’s along with THE DIVISION and THE ALLIANCE.  Then on a fateful day in 1975 the heroes, villains and people of Earth came up against a world conquering tyrant known as GHOR THE AHNILILATOR.  The combined forces and metas of Earth managed to turn back Ghor and his forces, but at a terrible cost.  All the Phantom Five but Narwhal were killed in the battle.  Afterwards Rene withdrew from public life and returned to his scientific exploration.  He currently works for the National Institute of Marine Study in Paris.  He occasionally lends aid to other members of today’s super hero community in an advisory capacity.  But has not donned his old Phantom Five costume since…
