Before Death: Moyama Nuko

E’nu brandishing a parasol

Moyama Nuko was once a shy and beautiful town girl who loved the view of Xiaimasa from the hills. Unfortunately, one day, she was peering at her beloved city when the rains were too much for her. The rain made her ill, and she passed away. People who see her spirit say she now travels everywhere with a parasol to keep from getting wet.

Day 26-Forever

| November 26, 2012 | 0 Comments

Forever is an immortal warrior who has battled evil in all it’s many forms for centuries. Nothing is known about his past as he never shares anything about it. He continues to fight against evil today using the weapons he has for centuries, but adding the outfit so many of today’s heroes seem to favor because he thinks it is fun the way modern heroes like to play dress up all the time.

#7 – Lee DeLoreo

| November 26, 2012 | 0 Comments

This is my last one.

Name: Lee DeLoreo
Hair Color: Ash-blond (with red dyed stripes)
Eye Color: Grey
Skin tone: Pale

Lee DeLoreo is the events organizer for several charities, including the Friends of the Greyhound. He has the annoying tendency to name drop, usually unnecessarily, but all the publicity he gathers is for charity.

DeLoreo is a minor character for my comic series, The White Knight, but may show up more than I planned since the main character does a lot of charity work.

#6 – Gimmick

| November 26, 2012 | 0 Comments

Name: Aaron McKay, aka Gimmick
Hair Color: Reddish-brown
Eye Color: Grey
Skin Tone: Reddish-Brown

Gimmick is one of the more subtle Name Criminals and a great deal of his fame is self-promotion and bragging. He’s a classic bully and narcissist, and somewhat of a loner, choosing to spend time with very few people. He has no real friends, but the people he spends the most time with are those that can compete with him intellectually, like Techrat, or that will flatter him, like Jill. He’s intimidated by many of the other more dangerous Name Criminals and tries not to show it by upping his bragging.

He’s usually hired by another criminal to plan jobs for them, and uses a different gimmick for each client. He’s liable to spend more money to do the crime than it brings in, but since it’s all for show for him he doesn’t care.

He has profound hearing loss from childhood and wears very discreet hearing aids of his own design. He makes a fair amount of money off the patents for them. He also wears glasses for reading. He has multiple sclerosis and finds the flare-ups very frustrating, and smokes both tobacco and marijuana. He won’t admit how badly he’s addicted to cigarettes, but he comes close to chain-smoking when frustrated, nervous, or bored.

Gimmick is a villain for my comic series, The White Knight.

#5 – Swordcat

| November 26, 2012 | 0 Comments

Name: Leon Smith / Lenxoli, aka Swordcat
Hair Color: Red
Eye Color: Yellow
Skin Tone (fur): Gold

Leon Smith was a fairly ordinary man. Divorced with shared custody of his daughter, Melinda. He preferred to spend his time camping, hiking, and fishing, well away from people. It was on a camping trip that he found a strange sword in the debris from a recent landslide. He made the mistake of picking it up and found it had a personality of its own, Lenxoli.

Lenxoli had gone somewhat mad after the destruction of its home planet, floating in space for countless eons, and laying buried on Earth for millions of years. It wants nothing more in the universe than to recreate the civilization it came from. The first two steps, in whatever order necessary, are to destroy the hairless beasts and uplift the felines, the creatures that are most like its makers.

It meant to completely overwrite Leon’s mind, but didn’t quite succeed. An unexpected side effect was for Leon to change from a grumpy misanthropist to someone who wanted nothing more than back scratches, good food, and a nap in a sunny space. Lenxoli’s mind is connected to the sword which is usually kept in the mental institution freezer, which helps quiet Lenxoli. The staff otherwise find Leon quite pleasant to deal with, especially compared to many of the other inmates.

Swordcat is a villain for my comic series, The White Knight.

#4 – Thud Cutliff

| November 26, 2012 | 0 Comments

I’m not going to finish, so I’m uploading my final ones today. I had fun anyway, but I have too many things I do in November.

Name: Thaddeus “Thud” Cutliff
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Medium Brown
Skin tone: African American

Thaddeus Cutliff runs the Dirty Business Gang. He wishes very much to be as successful as the Black Angels lead by Shaitan, but doesn’t have the business savvy, people sense, or cruelty to get to that point. That may change when his son, Ferguson, aka Big Frog, currently 11 and running the dog fighting, takes over.

The Dirty Business Gang will hire anyone from the other gangs and have contacts and business in every area they can. This lack of specialization means they are one of the most widespread gangs, but that thin spread also makes them one of the slowest to respond. The members are predominantly black and can be told by yellow plaid or bloody gloves.

Thud is a secondary villain for my comic series, The White Knight. Technically, the world it’s set on doesn’t have either Africa or America, but it’s a good shorthand.

This construction Worker was just doing his job when he uncovered an iron strongbox buried deep in the ground. The box was old and rusty and he could see some bones inside.  Unknown to him, he released a great evil upon the world when the bones reform into the horror from which they came.

#26 – Captain Michelle Cortez of the R.F.I.

| November 26, 2012 | 0 Comments

She wasn’t around in 1947 when it started but she plans to be there when it ends. Captain Cortez is out on the frontline fighting the silent war everyday, the war that started back in Roswell.

All those rumors about Roswell have some fact to them, but none know the whole truth. One night in June of 1947 a spacecraft of unknown origin did indeed crash land in the desert just outside of Roswell New Mexico. The creatures on board did no survive the impact, luckily for the human race most of the vast alien ship did. The incident was covered up and the R.F.I. (Roswell Fallout Initiative.) was started.

Within six months of the R.F.I being set up it was working full time out of a top secret government base in New Mexico. With a staff of five hundred, made up of the leading minds in all the highest level scientific research areas and with a platoon of specially trained marines on hand. The aim of the Initiative was to reverse engineer the alien technology, to find out their purpose on Earth. The results did not come back with good news.

Decrypting the logs onboard the central ships computer confirmed the worst thoughts. This ship was just the first, a scout. It had sent a long-range message before impact. If the translation was correct, and it best be, the government had shelled out a million dollars for the best linguist and code breaker that could be found to work on the files, the message read ‘Third planet from the Sun. Harvest.’

Sixty-five years later and the silent war continues. The second ship came in 1948 and the R.F.I was barely ready. They are always one step behind the invaders but hold them back. Using the captured alien tech against them has proven to be the only way to stop them.

Captain Michelle Cortez is the current leader of the first division of the Roswell Elite, the toughest marines in the R.F.I. They have the most cutting edge weapons, armor and vehicles at their disposal and are the frontline that holds back the tide. Cortez has been with the unit for twelve years and has seen a lot. She is hardened, yet courageous, feared and respected in equal measure amongst her fellow soldiers. She is the best person for the worst job ever.

Locked and loaded Michelle Cortez will never go down without a fight.

#2 The Askari Sisters

| November 26, 2012 | 0 Comments

One uses magic.  The other uses sharpened steel.  One dresses in the traditional garb of her ancestors, while the other prefers short skirts and boots.  There are other differences, but what counts is that Mia Askari and her younger sister Teira form an effective team.  Many have sought their services, whether to deal with a troublesome dragon or negotiate with a stubborn bandit leader.

The most recent job for both was to escort a rather ordinary, unassuming young man to the capital city.  The trip was far from ordinary as they faced increasing attacks from a vicious cult.  As it turned out, the young man was actually the prince, who had been placed into hiding to protect him.  Still, he was also skilled with the sword, and now, he has hired both sisters as his personal guard.  Where things go from here….no one truly knows, yet.

#1 Deanna and Scott

| November 26, 2012 | 0 Comments

Deanna was once one of the most vicious vampires around.  Scott Haldeman was one of the best vampire hunters around.  Their paths crossed in the country of Romania, of all places, and in the midst of a vicious fight, something bizarre happened….

…they fell madly in love.  So much so that Deanna gave up her ways and decided it was better to ally herself with humans (although she is still tormented by her past), and Scott realized that yes, a vampire and a human can have a relationship.  Trouble is, they’re also targets–but these two are not going to let that get in the way of their new occupation–investigators of strange and supernatural incidents.

DAY 26: 21st Century Sandshark Studios Presents- THE NEXT KIND’S JARDEEN

| November 26, 2012 | 0 Comments

On the distant world of Jorol seven offshoots of mankind.  Three million years later, we account the future we account the tales of THE NEXT KIND.

In the Jungles and grassland plains of  the central continent lies the Grand Chiefdom of Jumbai: A warrior society that have centered their civilization along an honor code and religious devotion centered around the hunt.  One of its most decorated hunters is the warrior maiden, Jardeen.  By the time she was  10 she had already brought down a Bramabeast single handedly.  When she had reached the age of majority she was made the youngest head of the Monga or honor pride.

Then the Frahl Wraiths returned, and all changed in their wake…

First the Frahl Wraiths laid waste to much of the nearby land of Korath.  Those who were not killed were taken as slaves.  One who did manage to escape, was fame noble and general Doule.  Jardeen had known Doule as a child when his family spent some time on a diplomatic envoy in her land.  Doule had once saved her life, and as such Jardeen owed him an honor debt.  Doule collected that debt, and as such Jardeen reluctantly joined his ranks, and swayed the Jumbai to pledge alliance and aid to the cause of turning back the Frahl Wraiths.

Jardeen is an expert warrior, hand to hand expert, and master hunter.  Her claws are as strong as steel, and she has super human strength and dexterity.  Which has come in to be invaluable in Doule’s quest to liberate Jorol from the Frahl Wraith threat…

#25 & 26 – Angela and Wendigo

| November 26, 2012 | 0 Comments

We’ve seen some of the highest-ranking hackers and agents, and as Cynthia and Gordon represent the pinnacle of their trainer classes, Angela is at the top of her class. A senior in high school and major rival of Helen and her Pitrap, Angela uses a blob monster named Wendigo that can quickly and easily shift between different forms, in order to hunt ooze wherever it occurs. The form we see here is Wendigo’s standard offensive form. A compromise between bulk and mobility, this form uses its high speed and heavy weight to shove opponents out of the way while the exposed core on its underside quickly absorbs slime. Wendigo’s other forms include a slender, deer-like shape for high speed, a blocky, spiked shape used for heavy combat against other blob monsters, and a tall, tower-like shape used to scan the city for ooze. In very serious situations, Wendigo can actually shift between forms during combat. It’s a dangerous tactic, given how vulnerable Wendigo is while shifting, but the sheer shock value can end battles very quickly.

As a trainer, Angela comes from a family of slime hunters, and became obsessed with the competition at a young age. Having been around ooze monsters her whole life, she sees the betterment of these creatures as being her only real job, regardless of the scholarships and other rewards that come from the hunt. As a middling to average student, Angela is acutely aware of her academic shortcomings, and has been known to use ooze hunting as an excuse to avoid school. In general, however, and despite a rather prickly exterior, Angela is an empathetic, intelligent young lady with a great deal of drive.

The keywords for Wendigo were Animal, Bulky, Four Legs, Branches, Storage, and Tail. Obnoxiously enough, the first thing these phrases brought to mind was an evolved form of Alice’s Minotaur, so I had to do some shuffling to make sure Wendigo didn’t come off as a clone of Minotaur. And actually, that sounds like a pretty interesting fight. 😀
