#2 – Leg-Day

Day-2-Leg-Day

Another villain – sentenced to 10 years in jail after being out-muscled by a cop during an armed robbery, he decided to spend the time getting bigger!

He spent the first five years working on his top half, but then was released on good behavior (he spent all his time in the gym!) – which caused him to miss out on five years work on his legs! – Hence, some excellent upper body strength, but skinny, weak legs!

This is Cheese Puff, named after one of my old flat mate’s hamster. He has the ability to stand on his hind legs and can understand humans. He isn’t that bright though as he doesn’t realise there is no advantage to standing on his hind legs. He is loyal and helps out where he can, but there is something troubling about his vacant stare.

#2 – The Goblin Slayer

The Goblin Slayer

Historically, Goblins have been a menace to various out of the way communities around the world, and in many cases out of the way communities were only saved by members of the Ancient mystical order of Goblin Slayers known as the Trowguard.  Unfortunately the Trowguard have not modernized with the rest of society and in 1974 the leaders of the Goblin Communities petitioned the UN for protection from the Trowguard.  After attempted negotiations with the organisation were rebuffed,  a series of raids and arrests followed.

At this point, only a single member of the Trowguard remains free – a Filipino woman named Charito Tomas, who was initiated into the order at a young age, and escaped the arrests, and subsequently went on to step up her campaign, killing both Goblins and those who defended them, police, army or civilians.  She has proven herself adept with numerous weapons, but mainly seems to favour battleaxes, a traditional magical gauntlet and pistols.

Looking to abandon ship, he grabs his bag of charts and maps when a cursed bone-carved medallion falls in his bag. The medallion is made of narwal horn, and on contact with the water, the cartographer is turned into a narwal creature who takes advantage of his new form to become a privateer, raiding the pirates who plundered his people and returning the treasures.

Day 2 – Canoness Angela of the Order of the Valorous Heart.

The young leader of the chapter of Sisters of Battle known as the Violet Wings. Angela considers everything about her leadership position in the Adepta Sororitas a blessing by his holy emperor that she cannot begin to understand. Gaining the position directly from within the ranks of the Repentia, for surviving and driving back a powerful Eldar psyker. She is commonly lacking in etiquette and protocol and very much prefers when the answer to a situation is smash it.

Although she leads with fervor, she has no head for tactics, and leaves the burden of commanding troops to the more capable sisters, often wandering the battlefield alone in a nearly blind fury. But the ex-repentia is an uplifting sight to her sisters in arms as she rushes headlong into enemy lines.

What Angela doesn’t yet know, is the Eldar Warlock who she triumphed against saw deep within her and discovered that she is not blessed with powerful muscles by the God-Emperor, but is cursed with mutation that has so far been undetected by the ecclesiarchy, and luckily been useful in the destruction of heretics and the foes of mankind.

But until that day that her shameful secret is revealed, she will march forth against the mutant, the witch, and the heretic. Wielding her Anointed Evicerator, a massive chainsword who’s teeth were ground flat against the force shield of the Warlock. But in her hands, it is no less deadly.

Day 1- Ishtar

| November 2, 2013 | 0 Comments

30Characters-1-Ishtar So here is monster girl number 1!  Ishtar the Lammasu.  To me, when researching this creature, I just kept seeing sphinxes.  And since sphinxes are one of my fav creatures, and they’re on the list too, I opted to go with the bull body instead of the lion.  She’s loosely based on a musk ox.

* Edit: gosh darnit… I typo’d my characters species on like every post and cross post. I’ll fix it in the morning…

Day 1Gel-7, One in a series of many Interdimensional Immigration Enforcement Automatons.  Created by the Rygal Corporation for use in monitoring and apprehending subspace drifters. Highly durable and extremely task oriented, these units are sent between dimensions in place of delicate ‘soft-tissued’ organic agents who may not survive the stress of interdimensional jumping.

Today’s entry is a giant dinosaur-like beast suitable for riding… If you can tame it. But few can.

01: Sonho

| November 2, 2013 | 2 Comments

Character Name:
Sonho

Brief Bio/Description:
Sonho is a gender-less but male-identifying amorphous, amphibious being. His appendages, and the majority of his body, are comprised almost exclusively of muscular tissue. Lacking a proper skeleton, his body contains flexible cartilage which can be manipulated into different shapes and locations with enough muscular control. Sonho prefers to keep the majority of his cartilage in his head and torso. You could compare his abilities to a cross between those of a jelly fish and an octopus. He finds humans fascinating and loves human humor and sarcasm. He stumbled onto the website known as 4chan, and now he makes tentacle jokes all the time. His human friends often draw comparisons between Sonho and average teenage boys, despite Sonho claiming to have lived over a century already. He loves to eat sushi; not for the taste, but for the irony and reactions he gets.

Style Commentary:
In the past, I’ve had a very difficult time bogging myself down in the details. I resolved today to sit down, rough out a decent pose, and lay the character out with simple details. I’m determined to avoid plain human characters (though I may “cop out” and do a few at some point this month, if the whim strikes) so I can start broadening my skills and get some new research done. Like, for this guy! I wanted Sonho to be technically genderless, and when the tentacle appendages started happening, I wanted to keep in mind some semblance of a factual basis, so I looked up the muscular system of an octopus! Very cool! Back to technical style: I laid down a simple black outline over the pose sketch, then filled a base color, which I copied and changed to the shadow color so I could mask it away for a simple cell-shaded effect. Not my usual approach, but I had fun and didn’t bury myself in immense detail or color work, so: mission accomplished!

Kept it fairly safe for me today. Originally I had planned on colouring this but no scheme I was coming up with was working (I was trying to avoid making her armour red)! I’ll colour this eventually though once I figure out what I want to go with.
