Back to the graphite drawings. This guy may be older, but he’s tougher than nails, hence “Strong Guy”

This set of color illustrations were drawn with a #01 round brush and India ink, then colored with Photoshop, which I am still trying to get a handle on. Personally, I think the coloring came out pretty well.

For the next several posts I’m diverting my attention from story characters to characters that I developed for a recent illustration project. I’ve chosen no names since that wasn’t the nature of the project.

David is part of a series of stories within a story. With these characters, I am reworking and fleshing out a story that I illustrated for a 24 hour comic challenge.

Though most humans are born without a cranium in this post apocalyptic world, Ron’s mutation goes a step further. His eyes are located on the palms of his hands. This requires his life support suit to have special encapsulating domes to maintain and protect his vision.

#1 Rudy

Rudy is a character in a hypothetical story set in a post apocalyptic universe.  Earth is still inhabited by survivors, but humans search beyond the planet for other habitable planets. Rudy is human, however, all surviving humans, due to consequences of the Final War, must be sustained by life support suits which keeps them alive in the absence of a fully developed body, which usually means they have no skull to protect their brain.

2012 Challenger: David R. Vallejo

Hello! I’m David, AKA graphiteman. I enjoy illustration, fine arts and all things creative. I participated in the 30 Characters Challenge last year and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Last year I created a bunch of characters for my graphic novel which is still in the works. This year I will create more characters for yet another story. My medium will simply be pencil.

On with the challenge!
