30 Day Wrap-up

| November 30, 2011 | 0 Comments

This has been fun, for the most part. I’m proud of myself for sticking with it for the whole month, even though it might not have been the smartest choice. Still, I feel like I’ve grown as an artist, and have learned some valuable lessons both on how to use Photoshop and Artrage, and world and character building. I really want to use some of these characters in stories now! Now I can go work on projects for school, and draw lots and lots of fanart.

Day 30: Stella Droon

| November 30, 2011 | 0 Comments

Stella is a wind maker in Floom. She works near the water, as her specialty is in steering sail boats and creating the occasional hurricane. Day 28: The Moose Rider

| November 28, 2011 | 0 Comments

Not much is known about the Moose Rider. It is said that his moose is mechanical, but no one has gotten close enough to him to know for sure. One day he appeared in Floom, and within a year had begun riding around on the moose with his longbow. Where he is from, what is name is, no one can say, or those who can won’t.

Day 27: Liam Maloney

| November 27, 2011 | 0 Comments

Liam is half human and half wind maker. His father crossed into Floom about 20 years ago, and a year or so after, fell in love with a wind maker by the name of Rudalpha. Liam is not interested in working, he would much rather spend his days lazing around in a self powered hot air balloon eating cheese and crackers.

Day 25 Part 2: Calvin White, age 19

| November 25, 2011 | 0 Comments

For the last eight years, Calvin has been learning more and more about magic, and about how little of it has anything in common with Harry Potter. In a few months, he’ll be going off to college, and a whole slew of new problems will be facing him in respect to hiding his powers.

Day 25: Calvin White

| November 25, 2011 | 1 Comment

For years Calvin has been trying to persuade his parents that he is a wizard, to no avail. On his eleventh birthday, the 31st of of July (the same as Harry’s), he had not yet received his letter from Hogwarts. His parents tried to comfort him, assuming that he had finally given up on the idea. However, even though no letter had arrived, Calvin was still convinced that he must be a wizard, and would not let them near him. He grabbed his plastic cauldron full of stuffed owls and fake potions and spell books and hid them in his closet.

After a few days of not speaking to his parents, and hearing them discuss therapy options, he decided it would be more prudent to just pretend that he did not believe in magic any more. It was about this point that he noticed that he actually did have magical abilities that were not only his imagination. Unfortunately, he is not able to tell anyone without them thinking he is making it up or mentally ill.

Day 24: Barnabus the Big

| November 24, 2011 | 0 Comments

Barnabus the Big is over 8 feet tall, which actually isn’t very large for a giant, but as he was raised by humans, his name still makes sense. Now in his early 40’s, it is Barnabus’s job to greet the new humans crossing into the land of Floom. He loves humans, but they don’t always love him, as his axe and height are a bit intimidating.

Day 23: Sheriff Donahue

| November 23, 2011 | 0 Comments

Sheriff Donahue rides his cow, Rutherford around the desert town of Barnabord daily. He has been sheriff for the past 10 years, and has no plans of retiring any time soon. Brianna is a sophomore at Ridgeville High School. She enjoys playing electric guitar and drawing fanart for Nightmare Before Christmas, and always posts it to Deviantart. Only time will tell.

Colette Franjou

| November 19, 2011 | 0 Comments

An annoyed looking girl.Colette is in the same fourth grade class as Shim and Ken. She dislikes them, as they are weird and kind of smelly. She is the leader of a group of three other girls and herself, and takes pride in her croissant-esque curls.

Day 17: The Dragon Writer

| November 17, 2011 | 4 Comments

A dragon writing on a type writer.Deep in a cavern, the Dragon Writer sits, pounding away on his typewriter and drinking scalding cappuccinos. As the stack of completed pages grows higher, paper flies in the air on his breath, and begins to burn up, now in the direct path of the smoke. Thus begins the near-eternal writing and rewriting of his novel.

Day 16: Chicken Feathers

| November 16, 2011 | 0 Comments

Chicken Feathers, Ken for short, is Shing’s brother. The first human they met called him Chicken Feathers, in reference to the hair under his ears. Like his sister, he has been forced into elementary school, however, he makes no effort to hide his antennae, preferring to just tell people they are a birth defect, a claim that few actually believe. Ken wears brightly colored clothing, usually on the formal side like his sister, as the planet they are from wore formal attire nearly all the time. Unlike his sister, Ken is happy nearly all the time, and although most of the people in his fourth grade think he is weird, he has made a few good friends.

Day 15: George Washington

| November 15, 2011 | 0 Comments

George Washington, Shing for short, came to earth 7 months ago with her brother Chicken Feathers. Needing to have an identity on earth, she latched on to the first name she heard, “George Washington.” Although on her home planet she was a fully grown adult, her size means that she and her brother can pass as third or fourth graders at most. Annoyed with the frilly pink dresses being worn by the other girls in her grade, Shing only wears the finest button down shirts and bow ties.

Shing’s antenas are not retractable, she simply ties them together every morning (a painful process, but what else is she supposed to do) to resemble a headband.

A girl with rainbow pigtails. She is wearing roller derby gear-knee pads, roller skates, and a helmet with a stripe on it, signifying she is a Pivot. She is also wearing a tutu.No 1920’s ladies today, I’m afraid. I wanted to do something fun, so I decided to draw in a manga style, which I never do. I decided to to a magic-girl sort of character, making her purposely Mary-Sueish, but she somehow got morphed into a Roller Girl.

Anyway, this is Bloody Mary Sue. Don’t let her cuteness fool you though, not only is she a great pivot, she has a knack for making people disappear when she doesn’t like them.

Two drawings of a black woman with a mohawk: in one, she is standing in a short red dress, looking annoyed. In the other, she is sitting on a bench wearing boxing gloves, a sports bra and shorts.

Shaina Laroux is an ex-boxer. Her mother, from Paris, moved to Los Angeles in the late 70s, and had Shaina in 1986. When Shaina was in her late teens, she boxed frequently.
