Day 15: El Asesinos de las Almas

| November 16, 2011 | 1 Comment

In some faiths there is a belief that humans have spirit animals. An animal that follows them through life, it will accompany their compliment to death as well. Acting as the leader, the spirit animal takes the soul to rest. But sometimes the souls are restless and go rogue. Depending on the person, the animal could be a rabid dog, or posoinous rat, but sometimes it is bigger game.

The larger the animal, the more distorted the beast, that is when el asesinos de las almas steps in. An expert at stealth and big game hunting, this is swift reaper that will cleave the unruly monster from the world of the living.

Day 14: Casanova Hamster

| November 15, 2011 | 1 Comment

He can hear the love of his life a few cages away.

There are some issues though. He’s locked up, she’s locked up, and there are a few nasty animals he’ll have to navigate between them.

Good thing love conquers all.

Well, Casanova hopes it does.

Day 13: Naomi and Kitten

| November 15, 2011 | 1 Comment

Naomi has no idea what is going on. She is in a place and being told to fight in partnership with florescent monsters.

This is stupid.

But the damn cat is going to listen to her if it means she gets to go home.

Day 12: Jamal and Ric

| November 14, 2011 | 1 Comment

Jamal and Ric had plans. Raised on the streets together, they decided that they wouldn’t grow up like the greedy slum lords that controlled the streets.

No, they would dream bigger.

From a very young age they’ve trained to become the greatest crime lords the world would ever know. They started small, acts of larceny, petty fights, but their aim climbs higher all of the time.

They were perfectly on track to realize their malicious dreams.

And then Jamal had to go and get superpowers.

He and his flight and superstrength are drifting toward more moral goals. The same passion that Jamal had for crimefighting is now enveloped with the long strides of a superhero. Jamal always just wanted to be a catalyst for change in his neighborhood. He thought he had to do that by being the worst of them. Now? He controls his destiny.

But for Ric, being a great criminal was more than a passing diversion. It is his whole life. He will doggedly pursue his goals without pause.

Time and again the former brothers in arms will find themselves as opposing forces. There’s no way to say who will come out on top.

Day 11: Gary

| November 13, 2011 | 0 Comments

Gary doesn’t want to fire the new kid. It’s not that he’s great at making photocopies. And yeah, he never can manage to get to work on time. Hell, sometimes he misses complete shifts. He also can barely manage to come to work in one piece. He’s always exhausted or really beat up.

But the kid needs this. He’s gotta chip in at home, save for school, bring home bacon, and all of that jazz. Gary can’t be the reason he goes home penniless.

Especially since Gary knows who the kid is. He’s a superhero.

It wasn’t hard for Gary to put two and two together. He knows that the kid gets it from every side, and he doesn’t want to be a problem for him.

He can’t be the reason the city’s hero doesn’t get a nights meal.

So he spreads out his staff, picks up doubles here and there, concocts every excuse he can think of.

Gary may be overworked, but he hears that gray is debonair, so he sleeps easy.

Day 10: The King of Fairyland

| November 10, 2011 | 0 Comments

Humpty Dumpty is an egg.

This is what hatches out of that egg.

All the kings horses, and all the kings men, should have never let him fall from that wall.

Day 9: Clementine and Bob

| November 9, 2011 | 2 Comments

Guys. C’mon, Clementine knows that there are no such things as monsters. Her mom checks under her bed and in her closet every night. Only babies would buy into monsters.

Clementine is a young lady, she knows better.

She is sure that there is a perfectly reasonable explanation for what is going on here.

It definitely isn’t monsters.

Day 8: Chet and Chad

| November 8, 2011 | 1 Comment

Chet is a little afraid of her best friend. He doesn’t seem dangerous, he’s just a little overly dead for her tastes.

Chad has come back from the grave to uncover his killer. He doesn’t remember much about how he kicked, so he sought out his best childhood friend for a hand. Chet was surprised, not only because Chad’s a ghost, but because they hadn’t hung out for much of highschool. It didn’t seem to matter to Chad, and he bugs her to help him out.

Unfortunately for Chet, the circumstances that allowed Chad to come back aren’t random. There’s a force pulling supernatural strings, and the pair we’ll have to do more than get their Scooby Doo on to learn the truth.

Day 7: Yuyutsu

| November 8, 2011 | 0 Comments

Yuyutsu was the only hope of a doomed planet. Adorned in the cloth of his people, his parents wished him well as they watched their child escape the planets’ fate in a miniature rocket.

Yuyutsu is the last son of Earth.

______________

There are a couple comic stories like this, but I still wanted to put Yuyutsu’s foot forward. Since he’s human, his experience would be the opposite of Superman’s. He would lead a very sheltered life since he can’t adapt to the atmosphere and he is weaker than the native inhabitants to the planet.

For security, he still wears the emblem of his people, but that only helps identify him as an outsider. Raised as one of them, Yuyutsu is wondering if he’ll ever feel less like an alien on his adopted planet.

Day 6: Hobo Hero

| November 7, 2011 | 2 Comments

Nothing is known about this mysterious man that roams the alley ways. It is possible that he is just an insane hobo. The other possibility? That he has uncovered the most assured alter ego of any superhero.

It seems crazy, but there has been a sharp decline in crime.

Listen citizens, for this would-be champions self-bestowed theme song. If in trouble, it may be the clarion call of your hero.

Day 5: Mackenzie

| November 5, 2011 | 0 Comments

Mackenzie knows what’s best for you.

Since she was 9 Mackenzie would get persistent headaches that won’t go away until she figures out what is wrong with her. Or more accurately, what is wrong with you. Highly attuned to people around her, she knows when people need help. The pounding in her head will get more frantic and sharp the longer she ignores someone’s needs.

People might be bothered by losing a favorite toy, having to do a chore, or plotting the death of their unfaithful spouse. This has made Mackenzie’s life more interesting then she ever wanted. She hoped that maybe giving into the headaches would help them go away, but they just get stronger. And the worse the headache, the bigger the problem.

Whether you know it or not, you’re in trouble. And Mackenzie is coming to help you.

Day 4: Alvaro and Mancha

| November 4, 2011 | 0 Comments

I just wanted to draw a Cowboy.

Obviously Alvaro has a natural affinity for cows over horses. He isn’t very useful on the family ranch as his Papi hoped he’d be. Looks like he and Mancha are taking a busqueda to figure out where they belong.

They seem happy about it.

Day 3: Tecpatl

| November 3, 2011 | 1 Comment

Tecpatl means, “Flint”. She is the spark that will light the way to your demise.

A warrior of Huitzilopochtli, she is covered in the feathers of fallen warriors. She fights without pause or mercy. She knows even if she falls, she returns as a hummingbird to fight in the name of her gods again.

Because she has nothing to lose, she cannot stop.
_______________

I like Aztec mythology very much. I’m not sure where the belief started, but Aztec warriors believed that hummingbirds were the souls of fallen soldiers. Sometimes I want it to be more bad butt than that, but maybe I just need to grow an appreciation for Hummingbirds.

Day 2: Saint Rock

| November 2, 2011 | 3 Comments

Saint Rock is going to save you with his dog and the power of being superb.

________

The character pretty much is that straightforward. He wouldn’t be much like his historic counterpart, but their talents and names are shared.

As much as I’m not a religious person, I do love reading about saints. They’re basically superheroes that records assert existed. That is too cool to me. St. Rock was a man willing to treat those affected by the Black Death. Eventually succumbing to it, he retreated to the woods so he wouldn’t spread the illness. A dog found him there and licked his wounds and brought him food until he was healed.

NONE OF THAT would be in my Rock’s story, but the same themes would certainly carry over.

What is this Rock up to?

Undetermined, and that’s the most exciting part.

Day 1: Milo the Greatest Adventurer Who Ever Lived

| November 1, 2011 | 7 Comments

Meet Milo, legendary adventurer. You may not have heard of him, because he hasn’t had these adventures quite yet.

From the highest mountains, to the most dangerous beasts of the forests- Milo will leave no rock unadventured!

Well, as long as he can make it back in time for supper.

Get ready, world.
