Character #30: One Shot!

| November 30, 2012 | 0 Comments

This is it- the last one. I made it across the finish line despite fighting all manner of technical issues and daily schedule obstacles. I have been able to do work on a project I had on hold. I created some more characters to go with other ideas bouncing around in my mind- all in all, this challenge has been good for me. And it has been great to see soooo many other ideas and ways of presenting them from such a range of artists and writers. Hopefully this thing only continues to get bigger each year!

Anyway, One Shot is an assassin. She carries the minimal gear her mission requires, and she is not concerned with being cute or subtle in “executing” the prime goal of her mission because she is expert at blending into different cultural groups and she knows all the tricks of dump-and-evade. Keeping a distance, from employers as well as targets, has been a strategy that has worked well for her over her career.

Black Ice- one cold villain!

| November 30, 2012 | 0 Comments

Originally, I had a fiery, crucible type of character in mind for this, but when I reversed to b & w on the eyes he seemed a colder character. The contrast of black and white, and the harsh zig-zagging on his design just seemed to work from that point on. I apologize for the scan quality- the machine at work wants to turn scans into quicktime movies, so when you open the image it can’t be saved or converted. I had to do a screen capture, move that image into Publisher, resize, and convert to jpeg. Whew! The pains I go through for my art!

Queen of the Hunt

| November 29, 2012 | 0 Comments

Not much to say- this just kinda came together and I went with the hunter-gatherer thing.

Madame Secret

| November 29, 2012 | 0 Comments

A British spy between the time of WWI and WWII. She has the ability to gather information form bugs and birds. Figuring out what information is useful and what isn’t is the challenge!

The last 4 crew members!

| November 27, 2012 | 0 Comments

Characters 23, 24, 25 and 26!

The last four monster pirates! Physto is a fire creature. He assists Soot, the blacksmith and tends to the boiler room on the ship. He doesn’t like being on deck when the seas aren’t calm. Something about water.

Gryp is a Gryffin and he is the aerial scout for the crew. Ecellent vision, decent speed, and a lot of harmless grumbling.

Gunther is a ghost. As such, he is the forward spotter in battle, unable to be hurt by conventional means. He sometimes leads the boarding parties.

The boarding party is made up of a bunch of skeletons. The bones stay in a small cargo hold on the ship. When it comes time board a ship, the bones are loaded into cannons and fired at the enemy vessel, where they put themselves together and begin taking over the ship. They can be disassembeled with a good blow, but they begin putting themselves together almost immediately.

The Wretch, Yuwrap Humup and Soot

| November 27, 2012 | 0 Comments

Characters 20, 21, and 22.

Three more crew members for Snake Luster’s monster pirates.  Wretch is the “gopher” on the crew. fetching things in his mouth or using the tentacles from his chin. Likes chewing on things, is a bit hyper, and growls and “girlie-screams” a lot!

Yuwrap Humup is a mummy who is on a quest to recover his master’s lost items, taken from the tomb. He may have a connection to the emperor’s crown, which has been sought for centuries.

Soot is big and strong and dark. he is the ship’s blacksmith. He doesn’t need to breath meaning the smoke and heat do not bother him, and he is part of the diving crew that is sent to explore the ocean floor.

Wolfram and Mons Meg

| November 27, 2012 | 0 Comments

Characters 18 and 19!

Wolfram is a werewolf. This shows him in his wolf and his human forms. Split personalities kinda like Battle Cat from Masters of the Universe.

Mons Meg is a giant three-eyed frog with refined tastes. He is capable of being a mobile cannon, firing cannonballs from his mouth. The name comes form a famous and large cannon in Scotland!

Weasel

| November 27, 2012 | 0 Comments

Weasel is the first mate to a rival crew of pirates. Not so much a monster as just an anthropomorphic creature, he is fiercely loyal and detail oriented, following orders to the letter if he has to.  Rescued from slavery, Weasel believes each person should be able to choose instead of having the choice made for him or her.

Crispy the Devil Duck!

| November 24, 2012 | 0 Comments

He just might be an addition to my Capt. Punishment universe.

?!?%&$*& Huh?!

| November 24, 2012 | 0 Comments

Not at all sure what this is. I just started drawing and let it go until it got to this point. I’m definitely adding him to the crew of Snake Luster’s Rabid Wombat!

Golem Gary

| November 24, 2012 | 0 Comments

Another crew member of the Rabid Wombat. Snake luster gives him the name Gary. He is extremely curious, and eager to please. His greatest desire to be really alive.

Hanu, the monkey price

| November 24, 2012 | 0 Comments

Based off of the monkey king of Hindu myths, I made him a prince of a land that no longer exists. Thus he finds himself to be a part of the crew of monster pirates of the Rabid Wombat. He can change size and give off power in a burst, blowing things away. He is somewhat demanding and unconcerned with the little matters of daily life.

Thunder

| November 20, 2012 | 0 Comments

This is Thunder. He’s a Tauran- a minotaur in our mythology- except his kind doesn’t eat meat. He is also a crew member of the Rabid Wombat.

Shadow Demon- just misunderstood, really!

| November 20, 2012 | 0 Comments

He’s called a shadow demon, and he is a subterranean creature but he is not a demon. Being a member of the monster pirates of the Rabid Wombat, though, he will take the name. He naturally can cast “darklight” which changes the colors of things or obscures them completely.

Shredder Mouth

Evil side-kick to Trash can Man!

Mystic Dalmatian Yeti

| November 20, 2012 | 0 Comments

Another crew member for the monster pirates of the Rabid Wombat!

Trash Can Man!

| November 20, 2012 | 0 Comments

Sorry for posting in groups like this- I’ve had computer issues and am behind in getting these up. I am at work, so doing these as the opportunity arises. Another bad-guy for Capt. Punishment to tackle!

The Dark Council- three characters at once!

| November 20, 2012 | 0 Comments

The Imperial Council, or Dark Council, as it is usually referred to by the commoners, has ruled the empire for centuries during the absence of a ruler. With the king’s crown missing, the council is happy to keep the power. The Deinosian leader on the left has authority in matters of war. The cavern elf, in the middle, rules over general affairs of state, and the shade rules over judgement. These three  will put their desire for continued control of the empire over everything else- including their own people!

Grid, the living football

| November 20, 2012 | 0 Comments

Maybe the result of a mad scientist? Who knows? Grid sure doesn’t- he is not that smart! I will probably add him to my Capt. Punishment ( and his Indestructible Yardstick of Justice!) in the future.

Bric, the stone giant

| November 20, 2012 | 0 Comments

Inspired by the Easter Island statues, Bric is part of a nearly gone race of rock giants. Content usually with just sitting and watching the world, stone giants rarely have much on their mind. Bric is a runt of his clan, standing at only 8 feet and weighing just 2,200 pounds. He is part of the Rabid Wombat’s monster pirate crew.

Veil/ Vayle

| November 20, 2012 | 0 Comments

Veil/ Vayle is a precognitive- she can predict things to come- just not always in order. She hides her face behind a veil because her appearance can vary based on who is looking at her. To some she appears absolutely terrifying, to others, she is drop-dead gorgeous. She is quiet, shy, preferring to simply be in the background of things. She is a member of the crew, the Rabid Wombat, a ship full of monster pirates captained by an X-gamer and soldier from Earth called Snake Luster.

Ancient Emperor from Snake Luster & the Monster Pirates

| November 18, 2012 | 0 Comments

First character is one who should play a marginal role in a graphic novel I am trying to develop. This is an ancient king who ruled an empire of a world a bit different than ours. The characters are searching for his crown, which has some special power to it and will give the empire a ruler again, taking control from the council which has ruled for centuries. This is late because of issues I am having with my computer.
