#7 – El Gallego

| November 24, 2011 | 0 Comments

Based on a stereotypical man from Spain. This could be an artist, from a small town in the Iberian peninsula. It could also be your typical local that hangs out by the town square, enjoying talk, drink, and music, at a small family pub, or deli-like establishment. He does look “old-country” representing any of various ethnic prototypes, to be sure.

#6 – Mister Moonie

Top hat and cane, just a whimsical vision of the moon man, putting on a show.

#5 – Claude

Strange bird indeed. Claude was brought up in a traveling circus. After the circus had to go out of business, he found himself out of sorts, living in a small town. He missed his previous life so much that his predilection for that life started showing on his appearance. Obviously, he prefers the company of clowns. Hard to blend into an average lifestyle if you look like this, don’t you think?

#4 – Jetzilla

Jetzilla, otherwise known as Godzilla’s jet-setting cousin, obviously likes to travel. I bumped into him (not literally, otherwise I wouldn’t be typing this) while at the airport. I’m glad he wasn’t on my flight. And yes, he was wearing that goofy neck-pillow that’s all the rage with less fashion-conscious travelers. Who’s going to tell him it doesn’t suit him?

#3 Baron Von Schtyk

A shady character, apparently having a distinguished look about him, with an air of mystery, and high class, the Baron is not someone to mess with. Sought after for a multitude of unsolved crimes of global caliber, and other reasons not to be mentioned, numerous crime fighting agencies, as well as crime syndicates, have failed in their search. He is one difficult person to find. From the little information we have, he lives a life of seclusion, far away from the beaten path, or does he hide in plain sight?. His name, or at least the one we have so far, has been associated with war crimes, as well as critical global situations. Not even the most infamous villains in history know much at all about him. This one semblance we have has been reconstructed from deathbed descriptions from the few that have had the unfortunate fate of meeting him in person. It is said that all of today’s global crisis situations can be linked to him in one way or another, though no one has direct proof. He’s so nefarious that evil doers everywhere fear even the mention of his name. He appears to be of European descent, though no one alive can confirm this fact. If you think you’ve seen him, you’re probably wrong, though I wouldn’t go around talking about it. He does look stylish, though, doesn’t he?

(Drawn on an iPod Touch with Sketchbook Mobile and a Pogo Sketch stylus, hiding in an airplane lavatory, at considerable risk to my life).

#2 L47 – Lookout Bot

| November 6, 2011 | 0 Comments

Here’s L47, the Lookout Bot. In an alternate history where, in a sort of Steampunk universe, L47, or Larry, as his cohorts call him, watches for signs of the incoming enemy forces. It seems he’s witnessing yet another incoming sortie. Airborne forces, as expected, threaten their flanks, and it is his duty now is to inform the troops. A look of hate, but not surprise, paints an expression across his metallic features, leaving no doubt that this mechanoid can feel just like the beings that put him together. In an effort to be like his creators, he carries a telescope, more as a symbol than a useful tool. The spearheaded banner flapping in the wind yet another symbol of his alliance, will soon be fanned by the gusts of impending battle.

You can check out my creations over several places on the web. The Mad Scientist’s Art Lab, The Impulsive Sketching Journal, and a couple of other places such as Tumblr, and DeviantArt. You can find me online on Twitter, and Facebook as well.

#1 Rogelito

| November 2, 2011 | 0 Comments

Rogelito is a little loner, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t know how to have fun. Two days of the year are his favorite times to celebrate, and go “loco”. On Halloween, he can mix it up with the kids on the street, at night. Actually, he’s pretty popular that night. But his favorite time to celebrate is when the “Day of the Dead” comes. “El Dia De Los Muertos” gives him a chance to be IT! He can parade with everyone in town that night, and he gets to see all his family. Here we have him waiting patiently for nightfall, so he can step out, and party!

2011 Challenger – Jose A. Gonzalez

| October 19, 2011 | 1 Comment

Hello. My name is Jose Gonzalez, and I’ve been drawing since I was a baby, but just got more serious with it, a two or three years ago. It is not what I do for a living, but you never know. I just let my passion for drawing take over some times. I like sharing with online art communities.

Last year I missed entering the 30 Character Challenge, but played along “underground”. Learned a lot, and had an excellent educational experience. More importantly, had loads of fun, and at the other end of the journey I feel like I stepped up a level.

You can usually find me on twitter, as @gonzalexx. The Mad Scientist’s Art Laboratory, Impulsive Sketching Journal, and most of your common haunts (using gonzalexx as a handle most everwhere online)..
