Day #20 – Bill the Bohemian Candy maker

| November 24, 2011 | 0 Comments

Bill is a travelling purveyor of exquisitly hand made confectionary delights. He usually doesn’t leave the fine continent of Northern America. But, on occasion he has been offered, and indeed acted upon, the educational and recreational opportunity of travel abroad. He has visited the wonderfully sunny beaches of South America where he learned the fine art of confectionary creation with sweet rice milk. He also was able to experience the orient in all of its wonderful majesty, whereupon he was bestowed with the ancient knowledge of distilling the sweet flavors from the fine flora that we know as Mint, Ginger and Menthol. Bill has never married and has no children, but he does enjoy getting them all wound up on his exquisitly hand made confectionary delights.

Day 16-19

| November 19, 2011 | 0 Comments

Whew, Finally caught up.

I’ve got an uptight apartment superintendant that is upset about someone leaving their lint in the drier. For some reason he still wears platform shoes, I think he secretly idolizes Fred from ScoobyDoo

Following him is a snobby brewer sniffing the beer to see if he added enough hops. His large nose has made him ideal for his passion.

Third is a Dorky tool booth worker

and the last one is an angry wrestler.

Day15- Jimmy “Buckwheat” Franconie

| November 17, 2011 | 0 Comments

Buckwheat Franconie was a Mob boss in the early 30’s that controlled a large portion of the upper east side. In the five family feud of ’37 Buckwheat was taken hostage by the Cascaronie family. Before the families could come to an agreement, he was murdered in a way intended to prolong agony and death. It later became know as “The Buckwheat.” The Cascaronie family and this technique inspired Christopher Walken’s character in “Things to do in Denver When You’re Dead.”

| November 16, 2011 | 0 Comments

This is Greg the Grumpy Hipster. He works at the one local bookstore that wasn’t forced out of business by the big box stores. They are in trouble though, Greg’s impatient, and grumpy attitude is turning away customers. His horrendous body odor adds to his offensiveness.

Day 12-Marcus the Monocle Wearing Priest

| November 16, 2011 | 0 Comments

I was having a hard time coming up with ideas. So I used some stuff from “Drawing Words and Writing Pictures” by Matt Madden and Jessica Abel  to help me get some ideas going. They’ve got this little section that had just a bunch of different things you mix together to make characters, so that’s what I used. This is also my first go inking anything in illustrator. I think I like it more than photoshop for inking, just need to figure out where everything is.

This is Marcus the Monocle wearing priest. He is a bit flaky at times.

Day 11 – Poopy Pants Paul

He doesn’t look like much, but do not be fooled by his calm demeanor. Grandpa Ernest is a true blue, died in the wool crime fighter. He thwarts criminal activity by taking forever to count out exact change, blocking the exit while he remembers where he parked and driving slow in the fast lane.

Day 4&5 Uncle V and the Ninja Chicken

| November 6, 2011 | 0 Comments

So we celebrated my father-in-law’s birthday last night. We were all sitting around the fire pit outside when my brother-in-law Victor asked my 6 year old son if he knew any jokes. After thinking a second my son said:
“Why did the chicken cross the road?”
Father-in-law- “Idunno, why?”
“To get Uncle Victor!!!”
Uncle Victor-“Oh Yeah?! Well I would eat that chicken!”
My son-“Nuh uhh!! It’s a ninja chicken!”

So this is my artistic interpretation of Uncle V vs. The Ninja Chicken. Let the martial arts combat begin.

Day 03- Goblin Freud

| November 4, 2011 | 0 Comments

This is Goblin Freud. He was arrested by the good fairies long ago for picking up field mice and smashing their skulls with his huge hammer. After he was arrested the good fairies wanted to remind others not to hurt small rodents. They clearly couldn’t use the story of Goblin Freud as an example because it was dreadfully gory and would frighten the children. Instead they changed his name up a bit, pretended he was a bunny, and as a result we now have the song we all know “Little Bunny Freu Freu.”
