Robots from the future created these new creatures in the form of the obsolete computers of the past. This one is based on the old Bread bin styled Commodore C64. Retro fitted with 2 laser light guns, was this a good move…..?

This is just an ongoing test of these Retro Computer/Robot designs. Trying to create as many as possible within the 30 day challenge.

#4 Mega D (Mega Droid)

Sega Megadrive robot. Created by sentient robots in the distant future.

Im soooo far behind in the 30d30c challenge, I’ve had no internet for the past few days, and I’m sticking with this excuse :) It’s no excuse really I’m just slow at making these robots, I have several Ideas for these characters but they are proving to be very hard to finish off, I’ll try to make as many as I can in the 30 days. Here is the latest Mega D (MegaDroid).

#3 Ghoul Boy

| November 6, 2010 | 0 Comments

Ghoul Boy is an amorphous Imp/Obnoxious Spirit that runs around annoying the other monsters, they try to shrug him off, which only makes him more determined to hang around with them, and learn their ways of Monstering. This character is based on a Halloween costume I cobbled together from a Skeleton Mask, a Black Balaclava, a cape and no, not my skinless bare muscled body, for a Halloween party when I was about 7 or 8? My original costume included a thin black jumper, and thin Black jeans. I think this re-design looks a bit more freaky or edgy, as Ghoul Boy can will his body to morph from skeleton to human-like shapes. I’ll upload the Photo if I can find it again.

#1 Victor X (Victor Vector)

| November 3, 2010 | 2 Comments

Created by the cutting edge machines of the future, as a nostalgic nod to the Computers of the past, this psychotic robot has the split personality within his retro exterior. His plastic overlay shows a happy creature. This overlay hides Victor’s darker side, Victor’s “Vector X…..!!!1!!!!!”

This was created using Inkscape the fantastic and still FREE Adobe Illustrator alternative. This is still a work in progress, the final version will be a lot crisper, he just took far too long to create.

Zed Hex Spectrum Robot

Hi, I’m atombat, I found out about the 30c in 30d challenge last year through Twitter, I think it was a retweet? It sounded like a fantastic challenge, I was really happy to finish the challenge along with some other really talented people. For most of my life I’ve created hundreds of new and exciting characters, so the 30c30d challenge sounded perfect. I currently live in England, I don’t have a fulltime job, but I try to do as much freelance work as possible, I’ll be using these 30days to brainstorm many new ideas to fill out my portfolio, and force myself into character creating Nirvana. or just drawing a lot to stop my self going mad. Last year my Zed Hex 30c30d character went on to sell 15 t-shirts and some birthday cards at Redbubble, also the design will possibley be included in a 200 page book early next year, through the “Works for Publication” group at Redbubble. I’ve had 100 Zed Hex postcards printed by a local Leeds printshop called onthewall. Also, I will be making posters and T-Shirts using the characters I create this year. Most of the links to my T-Shirts/Poster designs, plus more of my artwork can be found on my website atombat.com

Good luck to all.
