#5: Mister Heart Attack

| November 5, 2011 | 0 Comments

Name: Carson White

Aliases: Mister Heart Attack, Bringer of Light, Public Enemy Number One

Height: 4’2 (in wheelchair) 6’1 (while standing)

Weight: 121 lb

Hair: White

Eyes: Red (contacts, real eye color unknown)

Bio: Little is known about Carson, other than the fact he was born in the year 1943. Exact place is unknown, though we suspect him to be from the upper west coast.

When he was 22, Carson manifested his abilities. In a decade’s time, he had formed the Union of Superior Individuals as the chairman and first member.

In 1988, Carson was crippled in a battle with Third Day. He has been confined to a wheelchair since
Before the appearance of Entropy in 2004, Carson was the most wanted man in the world. There is a standing 25 million dollar bounty on information that leads to his capture or death.

Powers:  Carson can induce cardiac arrest in anyone who he is pointing at. Although materials like lead or concrete can prevent the unseeable beam from touching his target, those who are closer to him may experience an “explosion” of his powers that will induce cardiac arrest in everyone within a certain distance (estimated to be 13-15 meters.)

He is also considered to be an excellent planner, with an IQ estimated at near-genius levels. Before the loss of his legs, Carson was also a proficient hand-to-hand combatant.

#4: Sliver

# 4 : Sliver

A mysterious and dangerous hunter, the enigmatic mercenary called Sliver.

Sliver was once a man who lost his arm in an archaeological site digging out a Medieval armory. Though lacking an arm, he managed to procure a strange gauntlet. This gauntlet, unbeknownst to him ,was one piece of a complete suit of enchanted armor  of an ancient warlord that, legend has it, possessed a mind of its own.  This gauntlet possessed the man and overtook his will to become the Hunter known as Sliver,  whose only goal is to procure the remaining pieces of his Cursed Armor so that it can be whole again. He is currently in possession of at least two known components of the Cursed Armor, the Right Gauntlet and the Helm,  which was taken from the Smitsonian and the cloak from the Field Museum.

While the Armor thefts are a concern, its the fact that whenever Sliver comes to to collect or follow a lead on a Cursed Armor piece, he leaves behind a trail of bodies in his wake, which makes Sliver a Most Wanted Superhuman in all law enforcement and federal government agencies. Sliver is also wanted as a top assassin due to his relentless pursuit of becoming complete, neither any opposition or reasoning will stop Sliver from achieving his goals.

Abilities: The Cursed Arm possesses metamorphic properties that encases its host in a metallic coating that protects the user from almost any known weapon. The hand is capable of extending its fingers into impossible lengths and are capable of transforming into various weapons, such as swords, spears, and hooks, for use in combat and defense, as pieces of the armor are capable of projecting spikes out of its exposed plating. The Cursed Helm is another addition that essential suppresses the host’s identity and becomes its own entity, while providing the main means of speech and info in his search for his missing Armor.The Helmet also possesses the same metamorphic properties as the Arm. Sliver wears a kevlar woven bodysuit and the remnants of its previous wielders cloak.

Creation Notes: This character was inspired from me looking at a book on the Art of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy at a Barnes & Noble and saw a helmet from a list of concept sketches for Sauron, and this character stems from that one picture, while taking a nod from Witchblade regarding the weapon arm. The look and style changed throughout high school and I felt it was best to showcase this character. The pose is also based off a previous drawing of Sliver as that was my favorite pose for the character.

Day 3 The American

Kapoonis and Enumclaw were brothers that wreaked havoc in the heavens. Old Father captured the boys and made them the spirits of Thunder and Lightning.

An era later Kapoonis fell to earth and became the protector of Northwestern American Indians. In the modern age Kapoonis, or The American is the most powerful being on the planet.

# 3 : Jagan, The Evil Eye

| November 3, 2011 | 2 Comments

Now, from Dinosaurs to traditional Superheroes and Supervillains, comes Jagan, the Evil Eye.

A criminal mastermind, Jagan, the Evil Eye commits crimes either for profit or to instill his brand of terror across the city of Chicago, for profit. He runs an outfit of masked henchman called the Eyes, who are regular criminals who wear special masks that not only conceal their identities, but each mask is specially coated with chemicals that disperse a memory cleansing agent upon forced removal to ensure no one reveals the Jagan’s true identity. Jagan also enforces control over his gang and with any other person via  chemical compounds that Jagan disperses based on what operation he is going for. These gases can range from sleep to hallucinogenic. Jagan dispenses these compounds via wrist-mounted devices or through grenades. He enhances the effects via psychedelic strobe lights in his helmet that display a swirling mass of vivid colors and various eye patterns to convey The Evil Eye’s state of mind. Jagan, The Evil Eye utilizes psychological warfare and fearful intimidation to incite fear and to unsettle the minds of his targets.

His secret identity is still a mystery, though some investigators suspected him to be local psychologist, Frederic Wolham, as he studied the effects of chemical compounds combined with disruptive stimuli on the human mind, yet the doctor was found murdered in his Lakeview home and his notes taken. Police have investigated all of Wolham’s assistants with no possible suspect caught.  Whoever murdered the doctor and stole his work is evidently able to use it with swift and deadly efficiency, as Jagan, The Evil Eye in his debut, once released a massive chemical hallucinogen during  Grant Park’s Lolapooloza festival, causing the entire downtown area to to break down into chaos, which the Tribune dubbed the event ” The Night of Delirium”

So far, police and the Superhuman community has yet to capture Jagan, The Evil Eye and anyone who actually captures him is usually revealed to be just one of his henchmen, wearing his outfit and dies from an airborne pathogen created once unmasked. So, we are left with a chemical wizard who elusive as well as deadly.

Jagan’s outfit initially started out as a sketch of someone’s entry into a new Batman costume, and it was interesting to me because from a departure from most costumes, this batsuit was heavy on using crazy eye patterns on the helm. This led me to create the Jagan as I remade the style and piping over his outfit while experimenting with his helmet until I got the desired eye pattern I wanted his helmet to have.  I wanted to base this villain in the vein of both Mysterio and The Scarecrow, in that I want a villain who employs chemicals and striking visuals to elicit fear, but also to mess with the minds of his victims to further his psychological torture profile. So, there you have it, beware the fearsome watch of Jagan, The Evil Eye.

#3 – Wikedpedia

| November 3, 2011 | 0 Comments

As mentioned with my first two entries, Dr. Defenso and Blackout, the first five of my characters are based on aspects of my personality. Hence, collectively, they are known as, “The Vitos.”

I am a huge trivia buff. Have been for a long time. I remember the very first Trivial Pursuit release, and I was even in a Trivial Pursuit club in high school. My wife hates playing trivia games with me, but whenever she needs some crazy factoid, she asks her “Vitopedia.” So, what if I used those “powers” for evil?

Wickedpedia is my version of the Riddler, and has a lot in common with my character, Die Twenty. Wickedpedia uses his knowledge of obscure facts to torture the Clique. The game is simple: answer his questions or someone dies.

# 2 : Rexon Tyrannus

| November 3, 2011 | 0 Comments

Every hero is only as good as their villain, and with Blazer, there comes his main enemy, Rexon Tyrannus. Tyrannus is the main antagonist to Blazer. A scientific warlord, Tyrannus has an entire mechanized army which he deploys to seize various territories from the Clan’s homeland. The reason for this is tied into his family history, for years ago, Tyrannus’s own ancestor was the first Unifier of all the Saurian tribes until they rebelled and ousted him out of power in a bloody war that led to the formation of the Clan Lands. The bloodline survived with each ancestor slowly plotting and planning a means to reclaim their lost legacy, with Tyrannus being the last known heir to the Tyrannus Bloodline and the one who enacted their revenge plot.  Tyrannus sees this as a denial of his own legacy and feels entitled to reclaim these lands for his family honor.

I depicted him seated in his command chair, showing the regalia that a leader would wear. I also tried to depict his arms as shorter in relation to his body, as the gauntlets he wears serve as a means to wield specially crafted weapons for him to fire, while hiding a personal shield and energy blade within his gauntlets. Behind Tyrannus, like Blazer where I depicted his past incarnations; here I show his impending future of becoming a cyborg with implants while wearing a more militant uniform to support a more  driven persona.

A scientific and military mastermind, Tyrannus was trained and taught the arts of combat and military strategy while indoctrinated the belief in family pride and in the history of the Tyrannus Family’s Rise and Fall.  He was given the collected knowledge and wealth of all the Tyrannus ancestors, deploying  their plans and tactics while using a number of shell and clandestine operations to finance both his research and scientific endeavors.His attacks across the Clan Lands are focused on key lands that either contain a resource, new tech, or of strategic importance to Tyrannus’s endgame; the complete and utter subjugation of the Saurian Race and the Decimation of the Clans. He rarely interacts personally unless a battle is truly important, as he is comfortable sending his machines to fulfill his ends, yet will hire or make arrangements with other Saurians if it serves his purpose.

Tyrannus isolates himself from the rest of the Saurian world due to a latent Animus ability; Psychic telepathy and telekinesis that he has little control and/or uses as a means of force or manipulation, making it hard for him to interact, yet also serving him as a lie detector when dealing with conspirators. Though his influence is vast, Tyrannus feels truly alone in his life with nothing left for him  but to reclaim his stolen family honor and fulfill the Legacy of the Unifier.

#2 – Blackout

| November 2, 2011 | 0 Comments

As mentioned with my first entry, Dr. Defenso, the first five of my characters are based on aspects of my personality. Hence, collectively, they are known as, “The Vitos.”

I suffer from migraines. Bad bad migraines that lead to temporary blindness sometimes. Basically, my eyes will let in too much light, and instead of being blind and in darkness, I can’t see because there is too much light. While this isn’t an aspect of my personality (the migraines), sensitivity is.

Blackout believes that the world is too bright. Living in Las Vegas will do that to you, where there is sunshine all day, and artificial sunshine at night. A scientist at UNLV, Blackout (aka Dan Dakken) invents a graphite bomb/EMP for the military that is so intense, it can knock a grid offline for weeks. During testing, one of the new bombs explodes in his face and leaves him blind…except in pure darkness. Armed with his blackout bombs, Blackout turns to crime, setting out to destroy Las Vegas and plunge the world into a new Dark Age.

#1 – Dr. Defenso

| November 1, 2011 | 0 Comments

Ok, first one up.

When I decided to do the Challenge again, I wanted to do something special, and originally, I was going to create 30 new characters based on 30 of my Twitter (@incogvito) followers. I feel like there is some legal red tape that would keep me from properly doing that so, I came up with a different, yet similar, theme. My first five characters…

…are all based on me.

The first five, or “The Vitos,” are all based on some aspect of my personality. The second five will be based on my wife. If someone on Twitter or Facebook gives me the ok, I’ll try to make them into one my characters, but for now, that’s probably off the table.

Dr. Defenso is based on my defensiveness. I take a lot of things personally and I wear my heart on my sleeve. The good doctor, here, is a walking shield. He is ready for any projectile, but as strong as his shields are, things always get to him.

NOTE: I’m using Hero-O-Matic (aka Fabrica De Herois) to create my characters. Give it a shot!

#30 – Ggr Fzzah, Ruler of Vermin

Ggr F’zzah is an ageless alien emperor, calling himself the “Ruler of Vermin”, with vermin being any other being except for him. Ggr F’zzah considers himself the one being entitled to ruling every planet. In his verly long life, he has conquered and worn out several hundreds of worlds, always moving on to the next planet after having had enough distraction from his everlasting boredom by watching every culture on a planet live in fear and die.
Ggr F’zzah is huge (see the human figure next to his foot for comparison) and heavily armored with thick, impenetrable scales.

With a brain to match, he has on many occasions been the last man to leave the room – alive. This gained him the nickname “One Man”. He reacts badly to Blindsight’s team interfering with his employer’s plans of taking over the underworld.

#27 A Pair of Gorths, from the novel Alien Artifacts by James S. Allen

(#25)Rok’sla has an excerpt that introduces the Gorths in James S. Allen’s novel Alien Artifacts. Here is another small excerpt from Alien Artifacts featuring the Gorths:

~~~~~
“Behind them, the tortured entry door finally yielded, a large mass of it slumping away to one side.  Two Gorth pirates leapt through the opening, sailed over the still molten metal, and landed in a crouch, prepared to deal instant death with the blasters they waved about with disturbing eagerness.  Enragingly, however, the quarry they had pursued so relentlessly to this place refused to reveal themselves and be properly blasted.  In unconscious tribute to the forces of natural selection that had shaped them from ferociously thoughtless killers to thoughtfully ferocious killers, they refrained from blasting one another.  It was a near thing.”
~~~~~

Afternote: This was supposed to be #26, but I had a power failure and lost my work so I had to start over again. Also the reason the Gorths are uncoloured as yet. No biggie, though. I hope to have a third character from Alien Artifacts ready for tomorrow.

Day#25 Rok’sla (with Author, James S. Allen)

#25 Rok'sla, by Jande Rowe for Alien Artifacts written by James.S. Allen

#25 Rok'sla, by Jande Rowe for Alien Artifacts written by James.S. Allen

“I have been specially trained.”

Note: James S. Allen has written a delightful space adventure novel, “Alien Artifacts”, about a pair of  Xenoarchaeologists from the Institute of Ancient Studies, Rowan and Stephen, embarking on their first dig on an unknown planet dubbed “Dekkar V”. They are both very excited about  this, but sooner than you would expect things go wrong and they are plunged into a fascinating world of  beauty, intrigue and living alien artifacts. James has kindly given me the excerpt from Alien Artifacts below as an introduction to his character, Rok’sla, of the Calurrian race:

~~~~~
They moved off to follow the well worn path that was indicated by the marker beacons.  It was pleasant to stretch their legs beneath the open sky, even if it was purplish black, after several weeks shipboard.  In the light gravity, they made short work of the journey.  As they approached the camp, they were greeted by a brief burst of static in their suit comms, and then an unfamiliar guttural voice.
“Welcome colleagues.  Please proceed to the airlock on the largest dome.  I’ll be waiting there to greet you.”
They cycled through the designated airlock and emerged into a large, brightly lit room that was obviously a laboratory.  The room was strewn with sealed boxes, equipment, instruments and ancient alien artifacts in many shapes and sizes.  There were also three persons in the room.  The smallest of these, an orange-skinned gnomish looking individual, moved forward to greet them.  He waited while Stephen and Rowan removed their helmets, and then addressed them in the same guttural voice that had come across the suit comm units.
“Greetings.  I am Dr. Rok’sla.  I lead the UU expedition.  These are my associates,  Assistant Researchers Kloskan and Durnel.”  He indicated the two figures that towered behind him to the left and right.
Stephen looked at them and did a double take.  The seven foot tall reptilian forms were familiar to him, and he was quite taken aback to see them standing here in lab coats.
“Yes,” continued Dr. Rok’sla drily, “they are indeed Gorth.  There is a great deal of…misinformation that circulates about the Gorth race.  Contrary to popular opinion, they are not all pirates.  Many of them choose to pursue careers in the arts and sciences.  As have these two, my able colleagues here on Dekkar V.”
The two Gorth smiled hugely at Stephen and Rowan, revealing a startling array of jagged razor sharp teeth.
“Unfortunately, however, one piece of common knowledge about the Gorth is true.  They are quite unable to master Galcom, and hence will be unable to converse with you directly.  If there is anything you wish to ask of them or convey to them, I fear I will have to translate for you.”
This piqued Rowan’s curiosity.  “That’s quite fascinating Dr. Rok’sla.  I understood the Gorth to communicate by extremely low frequency sound waves, produced and received by specially evolved organs in their tails.  Those frequencies are far below the threshold that can be created by the vocal apparatus of most species.  Are you saying the calurrian race have some sort of similar capability?”
An unreadable expression appeared briefly on the bulbous features of the rotund little being and he answered tersely.
“I have been specially trained.”  His face smoothed again into its former blandness.  “And now, perhaps, you would extend the courtesy of introducing yourselves?”
~~~~~~~

Afternote: The next Character will also be from the novel Alien Artifacts. James has definitely created some memorable ones. It has been interesting finding a balance between the ones I saw in my own minds eye when I read the novel and the ones I shape from my discourse with the author. Another completely new and satisfying process –a path to agreement– must be forged in order for the author to be happy with what emerges from my pen.

Enjoy!

This guy’s wrath can always be felt the second time around. He doesn’t even need to be in the same building to launch an attack. Usually sitting on the couch in his mother’s basement somewhere in Toronto, Instant Replay is on-call all hockey season long and is authorized to question every little move of our beloved old-timer goal judge, Red Light Rebel (see Day #21). Who will get the edge in this battle of Tech vs Old School?

His only interest is being involved and creating a legacy for himself, regardless of who comes out on top.
