#30 Chris Brightstar

| November 30, 2010 | 0 Comments

Chris Brightstar is a Native American indie wrestler who currently holds the GWC heavyweight championship. He’s a bit of an anti-hero, playing the part of a face (good guy), but never getting along with other faces. He does what he wants when he wants it and so far no one has been able to stop him. He claims to be the “Bright star that wrestling needs and will turn to in the present and future.”

29.5 El The Demon

| November 29, 2010 | 0 Comments

El The Demon is an indie wrestler claimed to have come up from Lucha Libre (Mexican wrestling focused on larger than vibrant personalities with masks and high flying, fast paced wrestling). Unfortunately, he doesn’t realize that “El” and “The” mean the same thing, and the bookers don’t seem to notice or care, so he looks like and idiot. He’s a heel (bad guy to you non-wrestling fans out there), but try as he may he just can’t seem to get any heat (boos, hatred, the like). Mostly it’s just laughs…

#29 Jacob

| November 29, 2010 | 0 Comments

Jacob is the odd ball of the group. He’s not a total smark, he enjoys being a mark. He gets into the stories and loves the action. He also tends to sneak off and reenact the events with his dol… um, action figures. He also lacks some social common sense, attending wrestling shows wearing button down shirts and khakis. May be fine at bigger shows, but in little indie shows in someone’s barn in Eastern Kentucky… not so much.

#28 Dee

| November 28, 2010 | 0 Comments

Dee (short for Destine) is a casual wrestling fan who tends to criticize the absurdity of angles and storylines and so forth. But he totally marks out at times for wrestlers than none of the others can understand the appeal of.

#27 Becca

| November 27, 2010 | 0 Comments

Becca is the only girl in the group (for now), but she hangs with the boys knowledge wise. Though she does watch it largely because of the cute, muscle bound guys, she does get into the stories as well.

#26 Drew

| November 26, 2010 | 0 Comments

Drew is a HUGE John Cena fan/mark. He rallies against the norm and supports Cena, even though most grown men hate the guy. When the women and children shout for Cena, Drew is right there along with them.  He’s got a temper, this one, but in general he roots for the faces, the good guys. He’s a bit of a know-it-all too, claiming to be a bigger and more knowledgeable fan than his contemporaries.

#25 Goobley Gawker

| November 25, 2010 | 0 Comments

The Goobley Gawker is an indie wrestler saddled with one of the lamest gimmicks in wrestling history. He gobble gobbles and struts down to the ring, does the Funky Turkey, and then proceeds to bumble around the ring while his opponents usually pummel him into gravy.

===========================

Long time wrestling fans will no doubt see this for what it is, which is a parody of an old Survivor Series mascot from the late 80s or early 90s, the Goobledy Gooker. If you don’t have a clue what I’m talking about, Google it. 🙂

I wanted to do a Thanksgiving themed character for today, and this idea came to me that tied into the new thread of characters I’m doing now, starting with “yesterday’s” (quotes since I posted it just minutes before this one) “Joey” character.

So there you have it, a wrestling turkey… now there’s an oxymoron, right, right? lol

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

#24 Joey

| November 25, 2010 | 0 Comments

Joey is a wrestling fan, a smark (smart mark), and he usually roots for the indie guys or heels. He and his buddies get together after every televised wrestling show and dish on the previous night’s events.

========================

This is from a new idea about a bunch of wrestling fan buddies that talk about, well, wrestling, in comedic fashion. Some spoofage, some hi-jinks, and some good old fashioned strip humor.

The tentative name for this was “Smarks”, but I discovered that name is already in use for something similar. So it’s no an unnamed idea that I will explore further on down the line. 🙂

#23 Brock

| November 23, 2010 | 0 Comments

Brock is, well, the jock of the group. He loves sports, and he likes to throw it around that he’s better at them than anybody. He messes with Cory all the time, though Monty shows him up sometimes. He’s a bit of a bully, but in a lovable way.

#22 Amy

| November 22, 2010 | 0 Comments

Amy is a little older than the rest of the gang, but she and Lena are really close. She’s smart and fun, but sometimes she does feel like she should be with older kids.

#21 Lena

| November 21, 2010 | 0 Comments

Lena is a sweet and beautiful girl, and Cory crushes on her a bit. She’s talented and friendly, but when she gets mad you know about it too.

#20 Rooster

| November 20, 2010 | 0 Comments

Rooster is Cory’s little brother. He’s an exuberant little guy with an unfortunate haircut, resulting in the nickname he’s been given. Nobody knows his real name, and Cory and Rooster aren’t talking. The two brothers are inseparable, but as different as night and day. Rooster is outgoing, energetic, and a little cooler than his big bro. But he still looks up to Cory.

#19 Monty

| November 19, 2010 | 1 Comment

Monty is Cory’s best friend, though the two are different in many respects. Still, they do enjoy a lot of the same things and have fun playing video games, football, kool-aid (kind of like hide ‘n’ seek, but everyone has a color that the “it” person has to call out to catch them). Monty is into sports, but also likes comics, games and toys too. He’s much more outgoing than Cory, which leads to an interesting friendship.

==========================

For those following my posts, I fell behind, but post-dated the last three, so just click on my name to see the latest.

#18 Kimmie

| November 18, 2010 | 0 Comments

Kimmie is one of Cory’s friends and has a little crush on Cory. He doesn’t seem interested, but she is persistent. Cory actually has a crush on Lena, but that doesn’t stop Kimmie from trying. A sweet girl who loves girlie things, but can hang with the boys. She’s sometimes shy and sometimes SO not, just depends on her mood. She’s a bird of a different feather, which is why she fits in perfectly in Cory’s Story.

#17 Cory

| November 17, 2010 | 0 Comments

Cory is an average kid for the most part. A little on the quiet side, likes action figures, comics and cartoons, and food. But he has a wild imagination, which leads him and his friends on some crazy adventures. This is Cory’s Story, come along for the ride!

============================

Changing gears once again, an idea hit me, so the next few characters will be characters in Cory’s Story, which will someday be another webcomic project of mine. These are just rough sketches, but you get the gist. I was going for something akin to Charlie Brown and South Park in design.

#16 Topshot

| November 16, 2010 | 0 Comments

Topshot is the only girl offered a spot in The Elite. She was an expert markswoman for the US Army, and is even moreso now with the ability to shoot pulse blasts from her fist. She brandishes a bulls eye tattoo over her belly button, as well as bulls eye symbols on her gloves and hat. She is a tomboy, but all woman, and she is a match for any of her contemporaries.

#15 Anchor

| November 15, 2010 | 2 Comments

Anchor is a former Naval officer and is the power of The Elite. It’s uncertain, or unrevealed, whether he is stronger than Boonie or not when Boonie is in a trasmorphed state, but Anchor is as strong as they come. He holds up the rear and plays back-up to the rest of the squad. Anchor is also an MMA fan, hence the gloves, and he is well versed in MMA fighting styles.

#14 Fire

| November 14, 2010 | 0 Comments

Fire is one half of a dynamic duo, both former US Air Force pilots recruited to The Elite. He and his partner are mirror opposites. One brings the flames, the other brings the sonics. Not much is known about them, save that the two are opposite as can be. One is very talkative and humorous, the other very reserved and stoic.

#13 Jet

| November 13, 2010 | 0 Comments

#12 Boonie

| November 13, 2010 | 0 Comments

Boonie is a former First Sergeant for the US Marine Corps, brought into the same government experiment that Crosswire was. The difference is that Boonie knows the true purpose of The Elite, and he helps keep the secret. He rules the team with a firm hand, despite his rather flacid appearance.

Boonie has control over water, becoming one with it at will, but his powers don’t stop there. True to his chosen branch, he is a dominant force on land, sea and air. His body has transmutable properties allowing him to change his density as well as his form.

===============================

So I’m now officially referring to this as a twisted G.I. Joe with super powers. lol

#11 Crosswire

| November 12, 2010 | 2 Comments

Crosswire, aka Kevin Suitor is a former paratrooper turned superhero. Harnessing the power of electricity manipulation, Crosswire can create wires of pure electricity and use electricity to safely dive through the sky and land unscathed.

Suitor was a good soldier in good standing that partook in a special government experiment to join an elite sect for special operations. Through the process he gained these powers and became on of the elite. He just didn’t know what he was getting himself into, and still plays the good little soldier, taking orders, unwittingly carrying out acts of treason at the command of the United States government.

================================

A little late with this one, busy day yesterday.

As you can see, I moved on from Gonzogoose strip characters and just created something off the top of my head. Now it gets exciting as I have no idea what each day will hold from here on out. Hopefully I’ll get #12 in by midnight this time!

#10 Trixie

| November 10, 2010 | 1 Comment

Trixie is Otto’s wife, and is a lovely person. Smart, sweet and a tad bit shy. Trixie also likes to dress up whenever she can, be it formal or in costume. And she loves hanging out with friends and loved ones.

==============================

Short and sweet tonight, and a pretty rough sketch, even more than usual as I’m short on time.

I think I may be done with Gonzogoose strip characters for a while, though. Maybe one or two, maybe not. Might be time to move on to something else…

#9 Simon

| November 9, 2010 | 0 Comments

Simon says he loves cheese! Yep, a cat that loves cheese, who’d a thunk it? But he not only loves cheese, he’s addicted to the stuff. He’s gotta have it if it’s anywhere in the vicinity.

Simon is a photographer, always seen with his trusty camera in tow.  Simon’s a friendly and fun guy, but he gets pouty if he doesn’t get his cheese.

===============================

It’s late and deadlines loom, so that’s all I got tonight sadly. Cheese and cameras. Sorry, I’ll try better next time. lol

#8 Lilu

| November 8, 2010 | 0 Comments

Lilu (pronounced lee-loo) is an artist. A friendly, caring and talented artist, and a good friend. Lilu is very knowledgeable of many things, and she is very talkative about those things, always wanting to share with her friends.

Lilu is never seen without a pencil and pad in her hands, always drawing, getting better and better with every stroke of lead or ink laid on the page.

Lilu is friends with Otto and his wife, the three of them a pack that never travel without one another.

=============================

Ran short on time this evening, so I skimped a little on the bio here. As for the missing tail… it’s just out of view. Yeah, that’s the ticket! lol But look, feet! Sure, non-detailed, kind of sketchy feet, but feet nonetheless!

#7 Mr. Cuddle

| November 7, 2010 | 0 Comments

Mr. Cuddle is Gonzo’s landlord, but don’t let the name fool you! He’s certainly not cuddly in the least, though he is cordial… most of the time.

Cuddle is a self-made man. He worked hard his entire life and amassed a certain level of wealth that requires a certain level of lifestyle, and he doesn’t like anything upsetting that lifestyle. So when Gonzo’s late or short on the rent, Mr. Cuddle is right at his doorstep like clockwork. His passive aggressiveness only lasts for so long, then you understand why his surname is a misnomer.

A good man at heart, Cuddle is generous and understanding… to a point, but he expects those around him to be more like him, and when they aren’t, well, they ought to learn to be.

#6 Mimi

| November 6, 2010 | 0 Comments

Everyone has that dream girl or guy, and Mimi is Gonzo’s personified. Unattainable, out of his league, beautiful and strong, Mimi is the girl of Gonzo’s dreams.

Mimi is a strong, independent woman, assertive and in control, but with a softer, sensitive side, compassionate and thoughtful, but not everybody sees that side of her.

She has the voice of an angel and, at times, the temperament of a demon! But her heart is gold.

Mimi and Gonzo are friends, but she keeps him at a distance. Gonzo pines over her, but never pursues her, loving her from afar.

=============================

There are a couple of things I realized when drawing this particular character. One is that I don’t like her beak, and it needs some work. haha Two, is I really need to simplify and refine my style for this strip. So, as I said on the onset, these are rough sketches and not necessarily finals. But I like to think that at the very least I am capturing the essence of the characters, both in their bios and in their form.

#5 Java

| November 5, 2010 | 0 Comments

Java, also known as Java Jack, is another of Gonzo’s best friends and partners. He’s a squirrely little guy, hyper as they come and addicted to coffee, hence the nickname bestowed upon him by his friends.

Java is also a tech guru, always up on the latest advances and products, and is never seen without some mobile device in hand, be it his uPhone or uPad.

A real go-getter, Java runs circles around everyone else around him, and constantly has their heads spinning. Java is also a bit on the goofy side and gladly provides fodder for his friends to tease him with, and loves every second of it. He embraces his quirkiness, which is why he and Gonzo get along so well.

#4 Otto

| November 4, 2010 | 1 Comment

Otto is another of Gonzo’s best friends and partners, though the two don’t get to hang out very often. Otto is married, you see, and very busy all the time working on this or that, making moves and whatnot. Plus he lives a ways away from Gonzo. But the two have fun when they do get together, even if Otto is a bit repetitive, and admittedly so.

Otto is an odd Lemur with a witty sense of humor. He is also the master of the straight-faced pun, and you can never tell whether he’s serious or not until he let’s you know. Well, his friends usually know, but not even them always.

Otto is an intelligent fellow well versed in pop culture and technological. A good guy with a big heart, who always wears sunglasses, but swears up and down they are prescription. We believe you, Otto, we do!

Otto and his fellow Ringtails are always buzzing about, never sitting still, always on the move and making things happen.

#3 Mama Goose

| November 3, 2010 | 0 Comments

Mama Goose

Mama Goose is the mother of Gonzo and Zeb. A single parent, she was tough on the kids playing both mother and father. Oddly she played more of the father role with Gonzo and more of the mother role with Zeb, which could account for their differences. Regardless, Mama loves her kids with all her heart, even if they get on her last fraying nerve!

The boys respect and love their mama, but the three don’t always see eye-to-eye, and sometimes that causes… friction. But it’s all good, love conquers all… right?

Mama, in her earlier days, was a model, a dancer, a singer and an artist. She was popular and never wanting for a date. Sweet, ladylike, but strong and outspoken, Mama is a force to be reckoned with and a woman you want on your side. Compassionate and giving to a fault, Mama’s a good person, and both Gonzo and Zeb, as much as they hate to admit it and strongly deny it, are both Mama’s boys.

#2 Jono

| November 2, 2010 | 0 Comments

Jono

Jono (said like Bono) is a highly intellectual fellow (or at least he fakes it real good). Often mistaken for a Gorilla-la-la, Jono is actually a Chimpanzee with a glandular problem. But shhh, he’s sensitive about it.

Jono is one of Gonzogoose’s best friends and one of his partners. The stoic and wise Jono presents solutions to many of Gonzo’s problems, though most of that sage advice consists of Jono calling Gonzo on his crap and telling him to stop thinking and do!

Fun loving and caring, Jono is there for his fellow man, but he won’t hesitate to tell you like it is, but he does so in a lovable way that you can’t possibly refute.

Jono is a teacher, and a good one at that (send the check to Gonzogoose Productions, Jono), but in his spare time, Jono can be found cruising the internet, watching Dr. What, or playing a widely popular internet and mobile game about plant life fighting the undead!

#1 Zeb G. Goose

| November 2, 2010 | 0 Comments

Zeb G. Goose

Zeb is the little brother of the famous and fabled Gonzogoose! Gonzogoose helped raise the little tyke after Zeb’s father died when he was a kid. The two were very close… until Zeb hit puberty.

Now, Zeb is the bane of Gonzo’s existence! The two couldn’t be more different if they tried. Zeb is the everlasting conundrum that Gonzo can’t for the life of him figure out. But they’re brothers and they love each other and support one another. Well, Gonzo supports. Zeb games.

That’s right, Zeb is a gamer. Online MMORPGs mostly, from Worlds of Warfare to Dingos and Dragons, Zeb spends almost all of his time glued to the computer screen amassing gold or fighting bosses. The rest of the time is used for sleeping and eating and watching Anime.

Zeb has tried to be in bands and tried to be a skateboarder, but games won out over all that useless active crap. It’s much more rewarding getting the precious Sword of Izic, or some other nonsense like that.

Zeb’s close friends call him Zeeby, a name Gonzo is not allowed to utter lest he get popped upside the head with a Dr. Piper soda can, the drink Zeb is most addicted to and downs a dozen of a day. For, like, energy of course, to keep gaming!

Zeb also believes the world will end, not by fire or flood, but by zombie apocalypse. “Oh, it’s gonna happen.”

=======================

This is the first supporting character for my (eventual) webcomic strip, aptly titled “Gonzogoose”. It’s a character and name I’m known for across the internet, and the strip will be a humor strip loosely based on my life. This particular character is truly based off my little brother, so it makes perfect sense he’d be the first supporting character I create!

Eventually, the Gonzogoose strip will appear at the retooled www.gonzogoose.com. Currently, the site serves as my lettering and logo design portfolio, but it will be divided into three parts: Gonzogoose Productions, Gonzogoose Design and the Gonzogoose webcomic.

So there you have it, a little extra background on the inspiration of this character and more to come! HONK!

P.S. While I’m here, be sure to check out www.wannabezcomic.com. Updates every Tuesday and Friday! 🙂
