I’m a PhD student in Chemical Engineering, but always loved drawing. Not sure how to make a drawing seem like a professional polished piece of work though, but trying to find time to learn.

Not enough time! I had preliminary sketches for about 6 more, but are too far behind. I thought I’d put up the remaining sketches up even though not put into the computer:

moonman penguinknight reynold chiara ce  timetraveller tortoise

10. Is a heat/fire emitting fox.

11. Chiara is a female gondelea(?) in Venice of which there are only two, she is also a P.I. using her connections and ease of travel.

12. Is a nomadic engineer who incorporates earthly solutions.

13. Is a time traveler, she is a medic and biochemist who travels through time to find cures in tough terrain throughout time.

That’s all I’ve managed in my first year – I’ll try next year, and will probably work on all these characters beyond! 🙂

monkey

I was just doodling in the software and this is what happened. I think it came out like a monkey version of the rabbit in Alice in Wonderland. Maybe the clock is to remind me that this is a 30 day challenge and I’ve got to work more on it!

He has a neck made of elastic!

This is my version of a green man. If I was to spend more time on it, I would check the leaves are correct and make him seasonal.

This is getting hard – I’ve fallen so far behind!

#4 Number 8

sheep1

This is Number 8. Called because that is how the sheep is branded. It is the only way to tell this one from all the others in the field. As a talking sheep, people come from all over the country side to ask its advice, but mainly it likes to talk about the weather. And grass, it likes grass.

(the sheep is based on a black nose sheep)

#3 John Horatio Smith

number3

This is John Horatio Smith. People like him being around as he has “An old fashioned face” and he looks like he could handle himself in a fight. No one has found out if that is true. Considering how people react to his look, he changed his middle name so they wouldn’t be disappointed by his common name. No one has noticed that he doesn’t actually age.

#2 Cheese Puff

cheesepuff1

This is Cheese Puff, named after one of my old flat mate’s hamster. He has the ability to stand on his hind legs and can understand humans. He isn’t that bright though as he doesn’t realise there is no advantage to standing on his hind legs. He is loyal and helps out where he can, but there is something troubling about his vacant stare.

#1 Val.

val3

This is Val. She is a Valravn of Nordic legend. A young girl caught up in a senseless war was killed and a raven ate her heart. The raven is transformed as the girl’s soul takes over, they become one and she becomes a knight dedicated to helping those caught up in war and violence all over the world. In raven form she travels. In human form she wears a hooded cape with army boots.

I have a blog here http://verbthis.blogspot.co.uk/

And will be trying out http://www.madewithmischief.com/ and http://manga.smithmicro.com/ to the work. No idea how I’m going to come up with 30!
