#7 – Dorian Zenthhfyr

| November 7, 2011 | 0 Comments

Dorian is Bromella’s husband and Kendric’s father. He is also the youngest child out of his siblings, and so knows about the trouble with Jyorn and Gregor, their oldest brother. He is very mild-tempered, as he must be with a wife as energetic as Bromella, and as many children as they have had over the years. He is a cook amongst the Himmerd fleet, though he makes a point to work where he can keep an eye on his wife and children. Though his wife and several of his children have the aviator’s marks, he has never bothered to get one himself, despite spending a good chunk of his life aloft.

#7 DanBoy

| November 7, 2011 | 0 Comments

When SuperDan was feeling down, he got out his favourite crayons and created DanBoy! His faithful sidekick who thought he was the greatest superhero ever, in times of great need and stress SuperDan will take out the piece of paper with DanBoy drawn on it (which he keeps on his person at all times) and think to himself  ‘What would he want me to do’. Recently however in light of a great tragedy in SuperDan’s personal life DanBoy sometimes appears to come to life on the page to give SuperDan the aid he needs… he is however not the faithful young ward SuperDan imagined, instead bitter about being poorly drawn he often insults SuperDan into action or is no help at all because of all the crayon whiskey he drinks mid-mission

Jack Steele is The Adventurer. He is your classic barrel chested, square jawed pulp style hero. If you need an object found or person helped The Adventurer is the man to call. He doesn’t do it for profit or reward, he does it for The Adventure.

#7 Thanatos

| November 7, 2011 | 0 Comments

Again just a quick drawing with quick added colors at the computer so that you can get at least an idea of my character’s appeareance

It’s another inhabitant of the netherworld, Thanatos, the oldest of the children of Nyx. He represents the death, the peacefull death, to be exact. With his twinbrother Hypnos, the god of sleep he collect the souls of those who did not die in a battle, because those belong to his sister Ker. Thanatos is described as a stone-hearted, duteos god with black wings and a “killing glance”, wearing black, a belt and a sword, which he uses to cut off a curl from the dieing ones. He seems to be always in a bad mood, being angry about the humans and the gods.  But on the other hand his touch is very gentle and he takes the souls of dead as butterflys to the netherworld.

Since  Thanatos is described as the “black one” (Hypnos as the “white one”) I’ve given him a mostly black rope and wings of a bat. He is also a bit of a crossover of my characters of the last year Hemera and Ker, both younger sisters of Thanatos. I thougt a sword would be hardly handy, so I gave him bladefingers, similar to the claws of Ker. His green belt represents the hope to be deliverd from pain after a long suffering, and like his sister Hemera he is wearing a flower as brooch,  a poppy to be exact, because sometimes Thanatos and Hypnos carry poppies to send people asleep. I added some white to his rope to refer to his twinbrother, being dressed in white. The face of my Thanatos is hidden in the shadows, because it depends on the dieing person how exactly he looks.

Sketch did look better, I’ll try to color Thanatos properly soon.

#7 Word

Word

Jasmine Leroi is one of the most powerful psychics in the world. According to records in the Department for Investigation and Control of the Enhanced (D.I.C.E.), the young woman known as Word has class 5 telekinesis, pyrokinesis, teleportation, and telepathy. She activates her power only through speaking, usually whispering or singing, and invoking obscure words like “blink” and “slide” that activate various abilities. Word wears her powers like a second skin and activates them like breathing. She has little interest in globe-hopping adventures, but uses her talents to keep herself, and her urban community, safe.

#8 – Farewell to an old friend

| November 7, 2011 | 3 Comments

“It has been a while,” he whispered casually. In the cold vacuum of space, the sound was inaudible, and yet there, hovering in the darkness before him, was a presence, just beyond the barrier of nearly indestructible diamond and corundum that he had called many things- tomb, womb, refuge, prison- but was really one thing. Home.

From the void, a whisper that should not have been heard responded.

He sighed to hear even an echo of another being’s thoughts, this close, for it had been an eternity since anyone had spoken to him directly- oh, his dreams were freeing, his travels of the mind were limitless and far, far from the dying star that now swallowed the rest of his homeworld piece by piece. That would swallow him, eventually. He had lived in it’s welcoming glow for most of it’s life. To outlive one’s children is a sad fate. To outlive one’s people is a curse. But to outlive one’s race? One’s sun?

Why, only the visitor knew of such a sense of loss, in all of his vast experience, he had never known another with the same memory.

What they spoke of, there in the last aeons of that doomed place, were secrets and truths that are beyond our ken. But ultimately, it was a somber countenance from the visitor, who with his own powers would leave the inescapable gravity well, but only after asking, just once.

Just one moment of …mercy? … weakness? Or just compassion?

Smiling deep within his inpregnable, unassailable and doomed fortress, he sighed, and smiled.” No, old friend, I have seen and done all I wished to in this wrealm. It is time for me to depart. I am sorry for you, to be alone at the end of All Things. Perhaps we shall meet again…”

The light that should not have been seen from deep within the diamond colossus faded to azure, to twilight, to darkness.

And the visitor faded away as well.

Just wanted to add a tip of the hat to rdouek- his excellent image the Warden moved me to make my own cosmic imagery.

# 9 – D-VNM-06 “Chameleon”

FEDGOV – VNM PROJECT – ULTRA-CLASSIFIED – EYES ONLY – HIGHEST PRIORITY

SUBJECT D-VNM-06 (DAEDALUS – VARIFORM NANITE MATRIX – 06)

CODENAME: CHAMELEON

1920840822—92939 -29nmitigated disaster of the latest round of Corporate Wars, FedGov has seized all assets and facilities of Daedalus corp – the Chinese government has ensured us they have done the same with the outstanding assets of XDC Corporation. Rebuilding effort is underway, but the ‘scorched earth’ policy in effect during the later stages of the war means its going to be a while till things get back to normal.

I found a series of files on Daedalus’ elite VNM Nano-soldier line. Scary stuff – I’ve never seen such specialized matrixes. The files were tough to crack, lost a lot of info including test subject names and current whereabouts. I know they’re not among the operatives we have in custody – not sure we could even take them into custody if we had to. I have a feeling they’re out there… and I’m not sure if there’s anything we can do to deal with them. Things are fragile now – we’re stretched thin. If they start causing trouble, they could push us into another war… hell, they could probably set up their own little kingdoms if they wanted to.

The one saving grace was the latest file, D-VNM-06. Codename Chameleon – late model, never got deployed in the war. Amazing capabilities- apparently it was intended as a support unit for the rest of the D-VNMs… it’s got some sort of adaptive technology that can mimic and combine the different attributes of the other D-VNM series nanites. This might be our ace-in-the-hole. If we can find a suitable test-subject, we could have the weapon we need to hunt the others down and put them away. I’m compiling my report to the Joint Chiefs now – praying we get the green light on this, even if it’s just for a chance to see it work. Will keep you posted as things develop on my end.

Day # 7 – Terrance Tsui

| November 7, 2011 | 0 Comments

Terrance Tsui, professional athlete, and pyrokinetic. Not entirely separate parts of his life either. The newest trend since the rise of the “superhumans” is MMA inspired matches where combatants beat on each other until the judges declare a winner, and they are of course allowed any means nessisary. Not every affect “superhuman” needs participate in fact it’s discouraged. Only those who have the pedigree of professional athletes, as well as the durability of a tank. It’s not a sport for the faint of heart, although superhuman healers are definitly it’s biggest asset. Terrance is obviously a firestarter, and one of the top contenders. He enjoys the sport for the sports sake unconcerned about the dangerous political undertones. He’s actually quite a composed guy, very neutral in regards to the brewing revolution. Though it won’t be long until he’s forced to take a side.

#8 – D-VNM-05 “Toad”

| November 7, 2011 | 0 Comments

DAEDALUS CORPORATION – VNM PROJECT – CLASSIFIED – EYES ONLY

SUBJECT D-VNM-05 (DAEDALUS – VARIFORM NANITE MATRIX – 05)

CODENAME: TOAD

0101001011949191 – –3-9 .feberb.,ever expected them to go nuclear, but here we are. We need a VNM that can operate in the most extreme conditions, and Toad should do well. Field tests should confirm, but recent advances in crystalline ablative formations have us projecting that Toad should be able to withstand a direct strike from orbit, not to speak of anything a VNM ground soldier could carry.

Recent reports have given me the feeling we’re done messing around. We need something that can walk right into the heart of the warzone and just smash XDC’s Board of Directors into pancake, taking everything they can throw at it on the way in. No time to field test, we’re gonna have to deploy as soon as our test subject is ready for the final integration.

Tech boys are reporting a possible flaw, minute, but significant. No time to worry about it now, we’ll have time to QC it when Toad gets back home.

#7- D-VNM-04 “Lizard”

| November 7, 2011 | 0 Comments

DAEDALUS CORPORATION – VNM PROJECT – CLASSIFIED – EYES ONLY

SUBJECT D-VNM-01 (DAEDALUS – VARIFORM NANITE MATRIX – 01)

CODENAME: CENTIPEDE

0128482228405-299 think we’ve hit upon the ultimate infiltration unit here. Lizard does stealth like no other – microbarbs let the wearer cling to nearly any surface – we’ve got light-bending camo that makes it virtually invisible when it’s staying still. Haven’t integrated long-range arsenal yet, but will be worth looking into sniper gear – Lizard can get into positions no other VNM can.

We had to sacrifice a bit on durability – Lizard’s not going toe-to-toe with the heavier enemy models – but it will shine in harassment and infiltration roles. Recommend we consider field testing against XDC, or even a FedGov holdout facility. If there’s a security protocol out there that Lizard can’t deal with, I’ve yet to see it.

#6- D-VNM-03 “Scorpion”

| November 7, 2011 | 0 Comments

DAEDALUS CORPORATION – VNM PROJECT – CLASSIFIED – EYES ONLY

SUBJECT D-VNM-03 (DAEDALUS – VARIFORM NANITE MATRIX – 03)

CODENAME: SCORPION

01010010ABX#92030300/boys in tac-ops keep asking for a multi-target model that can take some more punishment than previous models. I think we’ve cracked the ablative issue – the Scorpion matrix is at least 200% more durable than previous models – should be able to withstand a direct hit from heavy ordinance. Claws are designed to shear through titanium plating – though they can be retracted as needed should operative need use of hands. Tail weapon is in prototype stage, but promising. Independent, multi-track targeting – variable power settings – can deliver anything from an incapacitating stun to a superheated blast of plasma. Combined with thermal imaging, Scorpion should be able to acquire and eliminate targets through solid walls.

Test subject has some aggression issues. I know it comes with the territory, but not sure how this guy got through the psych screen. Will be glad to send him off to field testing, won’t be my problem anymore.

#5 – D-VNM-02 “Snake”

| November 7, 2011 | 0 Comments

DAEDALUS CORPORATION – VNM PROJECT – CLASSIFIED – EYES ONLY

SUBJECT D-VNM-02 (DAEDALUS – VARIFORM NANITE MATRIX – 02)

CODENAME: SNAKE

0102e100101ewc2e – –3-9 .., continued to modify nanite matrix, selecting for stealth and quick, deadly strikes. Test subject well-versed in several sword forms, added subroutine to create mono-edge blade as needed. For the offhand, developing a whip-like weapon, can be used to grapple, trip opponents, or go rigid for precision stabbing. Snake will be excellent for mid- to short- range assassinations/assorted wetwork. Will likely be more suited for single targets rather than groups. Bio team is working on developing an injectable paralytic poison, but early tests are running into complications.

Snake should be ready for deployment towards years end – if we can keep Xiang-Dao-Chrysler off balance until then, Snake should be able to strike the deathblow.

#4 – D-VNM-01 “CENTIPEDE”

| November 7, 2011 | 0 Comments

DAEDALUS CORPORATION – VNM PROJECT – CLASSIFIED – EYES ONLY

SUBJECT D-VNM-01 (DAEDALUS – VARIFORM NANITE MATRIX – 01)

CODENAME: CENTIPEDE

0101001011949191 – –3-9 .., rst of a new breed of nanite-equipped operatives. In addition to standard abilities, such as battle-armor formation, VNM-01 is capable of turbo-charging subjects nervous system, allowing for split-second reactions and lightning fast hand-to-hand strikes. Early tests indicate we can push the acceleration even further – with a well-trained host body, it may even be possible for the suit to exceed our early expectations – with a reaction speed like we are predicting, it will be like fighting an opponent with 100 limbs – impossible for even !#IFnoivh- [irretrievable] – to deal with. Recommend immediate field testing with espionage division, wetwork sub-div.

#6 Mosh

| November 7, 2011 | 3 Comments

A level 3 Porter, Mosh is quite a bitch. Years of being able to be anywhere at any time has twisted her somewhat; being an international assassin for hire for the last 5 years has made her quite the target for nearly every country. Her only out: joining the other circus freaks on the team…

Day 3: Nic’norid

| November 7, 2011 | 0 Comments

Nic’norid (nic-noh-RID) is a rather strange creature from a strange place.  His species doesn’t really have a name, though some are convinced that they are quite advanced compared to others.  Their mouths now only function to take in needed nutrients are often hidden since they are pretty unsightly.  Instead of physically speaking, they use a type of telepathy using the gems on their foreheads while the sort of “antennae” receive messages which is also useful in taking in information from other cultures so they can learn the language rather quickly.  However, Nic’norid is too young to speak to other creatures, he can only take the information so he can understand what’s going on, which makes communication difficult for him with other species.  He’s 127 (29 in human years), and most of his kind learn to “speak” with other species at age 250.

“Nic”, here, is actually rather high-ranking in his society.  He’s practically a noble (the darker clothing indicates high status, but actual royalty are born with black skin and white eyes in his culture).  He gets himself stuck with humans when a bandit finds him injured in the desert and takes him to some friends.  There, he starts learning about human culture and eventually befriends the bandit and her friends, in a way asking them to take over his mission of why he was in the desert in the first place.  And, because his people are native to more mountainous areas with lush forests, who better to take his place than someone more accustomed to the hot, dry desert?

Nic’norid is still a work in progress design-wise, but I like what’s here so far and now it just needs tweaking.

Because I’ve fallen…several days behind, expect more sketches and please excuse the messiness.  Playing catch-up is never easy!  I plan to get two more characters up today.

Sciven understands the need for allies, though. The rumors circulating from other worlds of the burning ones, has reachedher ears as well…of the conquerors. They ARE coming.

Trizzt will not cower. Trizzt will not bow. Trizzt will fight back. Sciven knows this.

#7 Red Raptor

| November 7, 2011 | 0 Comments

Francis Velazco served his country as a loyal soldier.  Upon returning home, he decided to serve his city but in the guise of the crimefighter “Red Raptor”.  Taking the name from a hero of the 1940s, Francis–with the help of friends in key areas–created a suit that gives him maximum protection from bladed weapons and small arms fire.  That doesn’t mean he can be stupid and charge right into danger, though.

Combined with his military training and dedication to protecting others, Francis, as the Red Raptor, deals out his own particular brand of justice: he never kills.  The guns he uses are special weapons that fire “electro-shock” bullets–basically they are mini-tazers that can put even a big brawler down for a few hours.  As a soldier, Francis saw enough killing, enough death…and he doesn’t want to inflict that on anyone else, even criminals.

The Red Raptor–along with Windwalker and Astral–formed a trio of heroes that went up against Mitchell Baranovich’s criminal network.  Their efforts would inspire new heroes to take on the challenge of opposing Baranovich and his super-powered enforcer team.
