Day 25 | Cletus King – Rock n’ Rolling Demon Fighter

| November 25, 2012 | 0 Comments

2012 – DAY 25

All characters are created by my 5 year-old son, The Junior Partner.  He has either drawn these characters on his own and I have recreated them here, or he has sat at my elbow dictating design and conceptual ideas like a creative, but frenetic, taskmaster.

CLETUS KING

Cletus King is a rock star who is also one of the leading demon fighters of our universe.  He is forever locked in an eternal game of one-up-manship  wit a particular demon who wants to steal his music.  This demon is “super powerful but only the music can hurt him.”  Cletus King uses his affiliation with a government demon fighting agency to help his war on evil but also to help him out fo situations such as when he is locked out of his concert hall and needs to get his notebook where he keeps his lyrics and music.  Instead of saying amgic words, Cletus King sings his songs.  He also has the ability to make his tattoos become real.  he cannot make living things, but weapons, fire, water…that is right in his wheel house.  Some fo his tattoos are strategically placed for quick activation such as batarangs on his thumbs and Wolverine claws on his knuckles   He also has tattoos of shields, swords, nets, bows and arrows, etc.  he also has a guitar pick tattoo on his right forefinger so he can rock out whenever he needs to.

#25 Pierre

Pierre has seen it all, and knows that life is just a cruel joke that we all must suffer through until God has had the final laugh and we drift downward into the inky nothingness.

Don’t smoke or read Camus, kids.

#24 – Blowout (Kyle Murray)

| November 25, 2012 | 0 Comments

Kyle should not be a criminal, a fugitive, and a killer. He was a reasonable, if unremarkable student from a small, pleasant city, and if he’d applied himself in community college, could’ve gone on to higher education. He was a talented writer, and had even shown some aptitude as a long-distance runner.

Kyle was also, however, petty, vindictive, greedy and callous, always obsessed with showing his “dominance”. Over rivals, over law enforcement, over anyone who thought they had something to hold over him.

Kyle’s alleged toughness is thin, and entirely based upon his powers. Kyle discovered early in his life that he could create small little balls of energy that, when thrown, would explode. What began when he was a child as something only slightly more powerful than a small cherry bomb now can detonate with the strength of TNT, and Kyle is only learning more about his capability. He uses it, and the threat of it to lord himself over the people he surrounds himself with. He entertains himself with the fear of his victims.

Kyle has become increasingly erratic in recent years, as he has been diagnosed with a degenerative nerve disease that causes him increasing pain. As such, Kyle has become dependent on opiods to operate on a day-to-day basis, and regularly abuses the drugs. This is problematic for Kyle, as he has made a fair amount of money in recent years stealing prescription drugs for sale on the black market, only to end up using much of his ill-gotten gain.

#23 – Faraday (Thomas Peterson)

| November 25, 2012 | 0 Comments

Being a celebrity or being a hero are hobbies for Thomas Peterson. However, he prefers his uncomplicated life, running his family’s music store and being a fixture in the small, college town he has lived in all his life. Thomas considers his work as a “hero” and as a “celebrity” to be useful tools at times, and he certainly does not eschew their impact on his life entirely. But he feels a great deal more comfortable away from the paparazzi, away from the commotion, living in a community where he can focus on teaching students the piano skills he was taught by his father, and trying to have real solutions to problems.

Thomas has always been a slightly unusual hero, because he’s never really embraced the job. His profession, to him, was as a teacher and community organizer. While doing the superhero’s work was useful and important to him, he didn’t see it as having a lasting impact, that its legacy, and his, were fleeting. So he teaches, instead.

As befits a family that ran a music store, music and musicians were always part of Thomas’s life early on. His father was a session musician for several different jazz groups, and his mother had been a opera singer. The pair began Peterson music before he was born, and made themselves a major part of the community within a few short years.

To his father’s delight, Thomas showed a aptitude and love for the piano, along with an ear for musical variety. He had been at college, studying at a music conservatory for three years when his powers suddenly manifested. It didn’t take a great deal of knowledge about powers to understand his burgeoning control over electromagnetic fields could be put to use, but, committed to finishing what he started, Thomas graduated from college before taking up the mantle of a hero.

For eight years, Thomas worked as a superhero, traveling the country, fighting villains, and always trying to set things right. But he felt himself getting lost inside the insular, self-absorbed world of heroes. His life began to revolve entirely around other people with powers, their problems, and Thomas began to feel he was being pulled away from the reason he’d taken up the job in the first place.

Thomas has not quit from the world of other heroes, he has simply pulled back from it. He’s still famous, and many people still visit his family’s music shop for a chance to meet the man once known as “Faraday”. He enjoys occasionally soaking in the adulation, and keeps in touch with other friends in “the business” he’s made. Thomas still occasionally goes out out to fight the good fight, but the shop, his parents and his community are his home, his rock. A place where nothing more than knowledge and kindness is expected of him.

#24 Slayer

Not as good as I wanted it but not bad for someone who has been sick all week. 😛 She is the slayer of beasts. Sort of a berserker on the field and able to keep up with the finest warriors.

Day 25 – Enforcer

| November 25, 2012 | 0 Comments

Real name – Indrum Groark

He once was amidst the ones who “came in peace”. He came in peace too – but his task was to maintain the peace at all cost. To oppress anyone who disagrees with the peacefullness of the aliens. To insure that there is no one human who can even think of starting a war with aliens.

Day 24-Pulsate

| November 25, 2012 | 0 Comments

Pulsate uses the circuitry in the suit he designed to form a pulsing shell of energy around himself. The pulsing energy gives him protection from most weapons and blows. He can also drive it into the ground or out in front of himself to use it as an offensive attack.

#24 Ambassador Engine

| November 25, 2012 | 0 Comments

THE AMBASSADOR ENGINE is, at this very moment, bulldozing between universes to prepare the way for its highly advanced creators, equipped with the sweet poetry of the 10,000 true languages (thanks to its Myriad OS  – set to the factory default ‘consciousness’).  Shh! That’s not wind, or power lines, or your heartbeat. Listen!

Grail. We are here, showered in roses, on tank treads made of gold. Grail. The multiple in one. We come in peace. These are the immutable laws of the most high, to elevate you. Speak, once, into the fire. We come upon wings like angels. Bearing flags of peace. Flags of victory. Floating upon a lotus, as do the most wise. Hands folded in silence. Eyes wide in praise. We speak your language. We can get it for you wholesale. You shall not surely die. Oh, the places we’ll go! The things we can show you! Revelation. We are the myriad. We are the ten thousand things. We are legion, and we want to be your friend. But you can’t tell the others. We will treat you with candy, and enlighten you with secrets.Grail. The answer to the riddle is us.

A sphinx-like monstrosity, the Engine was set in motion by an impossibly advanced civilization a few universes ago — but after they vanished, the Ambassador Engine was so well-constructed that it’s kept going, using a proprietary mix of diplomacy, intimidation, gifts, disease, and mind-breaking feats of reality rewiring to ‘prepare’ beings to receive its absent masters, whatever the cost.  It is the source of countless myths and religions, seeding them into your heads to prepare you for gods and masters that will never come. No one who is aware of it has figured out how to stop its mission of mercy — so far, the only thing you can do to minimize the memetic damage is to redirect it to the poor saps over in the reality next door.

“Who knows,” you say, “Maybe they’ll like it well enough over there.”

But not in your backyard, eh? You bastard.
