#23 – Cernunnos

| November 24, 2010 | 7 Comments

Cernunnos is a little known Celtic god. All that’s known is he’s a horned god, possibly of Nature or Fertility.
In the Mythoscape, he’s a former ally of Camulus, but he got tired of all the violence and hate. Dakuwaqa set up an area on his island paradise where Cernunnos and his peace loving friends (Minona, Pax and even Ishtar) live in harmony with the land. They live by the teachings and the music of John Lennon. Imagine is a favorite, except for the part about no religion (ie. they wouldn’t exist!)

I thought he would be more centaurine. At least the representations of him that I’ve seen show him with a centaur type body.

Although, given that they ar generally able to change shape at will (when they want to), he could have a centaurine form, depending on his mood or something.

I still like this one though and its certainly different than the (seemingly) more common centaurine depiction.

Cool idea! I didn’t find much info on him let alone depictions as a centaur. Might have to use that later, it fits the gimmick I gave him.

I’ve only seen maybe two depicyoons of him, and in fact really the only two that I know about well. One is in world of warcraft where he is that nature god. May have been under a different name, but was definetly Cernunnos or heavily based on him and the Brat-Halla webcomic had him in one arc as a centaurine form as well, both had a more deer type body rather than horse I think.
